These run a tad bit small, but I was able to use them, and am I happy I did. Very comfortable and nice looking with skirts, pans or some dresses. Nice padding and great feeling!

Cushioned good looks - This sandal has wonderful cushioning that makes it a joy to walk in. It does not have the defined arch support that some Mephistos, such as the Balea, have so I was reluctant to purchase it. But with all that cushioning and very light weight it is a remarkably comfortable sandal that looks good too.

Having owned a pair of these brown leather sandals before, I was thrilled to see them online. I had my previous pair for about 8 years and gave them up reluctantly when they were worn out. the new pair is the same quality and style, but the size is a bit too short and narrow in the front. I am going to keep them and hope they stretch out some, but for now I have to wear them only a couple hours before I change into another pair of sandals.

These are very supportive, good workmanship, cute, but the toe strap stitching felt irritating across my toes. I was looking for supportive comfortable walking sandals and ended up going with Finn Comfort Gomeras partly because friends told me their Mephisto sandals stretched out and became too loose, which is especially a problem given that these only have one adjustable strap (buckle on the ankle strap) whereas the Gomeras have three adjustable straps.

They squeak! Has anyone else had this problem with the Mephisto Altina? Should I bother getting a different pair or just learn to live with (significant noise when I walk? Have only tried them indoors.

Mephisto Altina - I was disappointed with the fit of the Mephisto Altina I recently bought. I have worn this same shoe style for at least 4 years. The new Altina is obviously smaller than the previous ones. I will not buy this shoe again.

This sandal runs small, so I had to order a size up. Larger size was comfortable, but the sandals squeak loudly on hard floors...pretty annoying for an expensive shoe. Disappointing. They went back to Zappos.

I just received these yesterday in the black nubuck and put them on immediately. I promptly forgot about them as they were that comfortable (not a common occurrence!). The leather is really beautiful and more suede-like than nubuck usually is. The slight wedge (although still very much a flat) dresses them up and the position of the straps cover all the cranky parts. This sandal could easily be worn with anything (skirts, capris etc.) except for the dressiest of outfits. I do plan to spray them for extra protection. Perfection!

I purchased a pair of Mephisto Altinos several years ago and have loved the shoe. I was excited to find that the manufacturer still made them and that Zappos carried them. I delightedly purchased them, looking forward to several years of comfort and good looks. However, the shoe has changed. The sole is now made of a stiffer, cheaper material which is not as comfortable and SQUEAKS! Also, the shoe has a strong chemical smell -- like someone spilled paint thinner. I will be returning them.
