There was so much to love about this sandal, but it was also so disappointing. I found the footbed very comfortable, with great cushion and some arch support (mine are very high, so I rarely feel anything). The footbed on the Madalyn (if you're comparing -- I was) was not as squishy of comfy as the Helen. The leather strap was perfectly comfortable, unlike on the Madalyn. I tried the plain leather -- I suspect that the leather with a pattern or texture (which I tried in the Madalyn) is just rougher/stiffer and just more uncomfortable, so beware. I would also prefer the faux buckle (that has velcro underneath) like the Madalyn. This just has a regular, adjustable buckle. My biggest complaint is the width of the shoe. My foot is slightly wider than average, but I NEVER have to buy wide width shoes. However, my foot obviously was too wide for the Helen. Of course, there is the Helen Plus. Perfect, right? Well, if you want to be relegated to the ugly section -- not a cute colored shoe in sight -- 2 in black and 2 in brown to choose from. Really? Boo.

Ok. Hurts bridge of foot. My foot is narrow. Obscene prices for Mephisto now. $300 is ludicrous. They used to last for years. No longer. Plastic buckles ? Stop price gouging Mephisto. Decades I’ve loved you all.. moving on for now.

The Mephisto Helen is a very comfortable shoe. My foot is on the wider end of a medium width so I had to return them :(

Have really helped my plantar fasciitis. I have them in a few colors so I can alternate and wear them daily. Wish the style was cuter, but can't have everything !

I have a few pairs of this particular Mephisto style and wear them practically every day to avoid foot pain. They are not very attractive which is why I gave them four stars, but definitely recommend for people with foot pain. They also have a variety of colors!

These are cute in sage. They run small so go up. I’m a 9 and went to a 10. Comfortable

I have worn this style of the Mephisto for several years. This particular shoe did not fit quite as well as the others. I'm keeping the shoes and hoping they will get a little more comfortable.

Love the shoe but size up. I’m an 8.5 or 9 and will have to exchange for a 10. Bought the safe green. Great color.

I usually receive a size 40 for a 9. The toe separator is too small for me. My feet turned red and hurt between the toes.

Nice sandal, just did not fit well (too loose).

I have same model with different leather, and it fits like a glove. This pair has VERY STIFF leather. It will take a while to break them in. A bigger size would end up too loose. I love the color and will have to be patient breaking them in.

The toe piece dug into my skin. They hurt like crazy. I’ve had 5 other pairs and none of them were like this. I’m so disappointed.

I was disappointed that the advertised picture was different than the sandal that I received. the advertised picture looked like soft non shiny leather, with a dark footbed. the sandal that I received feels like stiff man made material, is shiny, with a medium brown footbed. I am keeping them because they are very cute, the texture of the strap material is accurate, and im they will soften with time. However, I would not have ordered them if the advertised picture was more accurate.

I decided to try sizes 36 and 37 of the Mephisto Helen. I wear a 6.5 B in shoes and thought the 37 had too much room in front and back of shoe. When I tried the 36, my big toe would go over the edge when walking. So it's worth listening to the reviews of others who said you have tome up at least 1/2 size for shoe to fit properly. Great shoe and very comfortable.

Love these shoes. I have wide feets and usually wear size 8. But it runs small. So I order size 9 fits prefect. Very comfortable.

Sadly, I had to return these because my toe-span was slightly wider than the footbed by about 1/4." I had been debating between these and similar Birkenstocks and opted for the Mephisto because the Birkenstocks are a bit wider than I like for my foot. The toe thong and foot bed on these Mephistos are very comfortable. They are nicely designed but just didn't work for me.

I wear a size 9 or Euro 40. The shoes are on the verge of being too small, but size 40 was not an available option. And going up a full size would be too much. I am on the last hole in the strap. Otherwise they feel good. I will try again tonight and decide if I will be able to wear them for an extended period of time.

I wanted to love these. The footbed was out of this world comfortable and supportive. Unfortunately they rubbed against my second toe on one foot. As a Floridian I have spent most of my life in flip flops but now realize the damage they have done. I no longer where thong style but thought these might work. They are super cute and the orange color is lovely. I am a really hard fit. I am so sad

The one shoe’s river under the buckle was rubbing a bit so I put a small bandaid over it and it felt a lot better. Very stylish and picks up the color you wear

Sadly, just like Birkenstocks, this shoe runs short and did not fit my long, narrow foot. A 43 should have given me plenty of room but I needed a few extra mm between my big toe and the tip of the shoe for this to work.

Stiff leather between toes. Painful to walk. Had to return.

If my foot was any wider than normal range I would have to go to the wide version of this shoe. I needed a sandal with toe strap security in the fore foot. My birkenstocks had become a tripping hazard, but these are more secure and actually more comfortable. I got the light blue because of a hefty markdown, and they are a nice summer color, not too far off from faded denim.

Fit was great, I usually take a 7.5. Only returned because I wanted a different color, the gold was a little too shiny in person for my taste.

These were super nice and it made me sad to send them back, but I have multiple toe issues and I think they'd have to work too hard with these.
