Love these sandals. The cork insoles are so supportive and cushion your feet when you walk. A friend told me about these two years ago but I resisted because I don't usually spend a lot for sandals, but was in need of some comfortable walking sandals for this year. I am so glad I bought these. Wish I had done so 2 years ago. I have a wide foot and high instep so 'rounded up' to the size 38 and they are great.

I received the above order this evening and have determined that I need a size 40, instead of the 39, so would like to return these and have you ship me the size 40, in the same sandal.

This shoe will feel snug at first and mold to your foot after a few days of wear. I love this shoe so much, this is my second pair.

These shoes rock! You don't need to break them in...just put them on and instant comfort - can't beat it or the service at Zappos - they make online shopping so simple.

My 3rd Mephisto Helen in 14 years. I love this shoe. They last a long time. I can't bear to be without a pair! Although I have no foot problems, the arch support still makes them so comfortable for walking and especially standing. Instant comfort - no breaking in required, although the patent leather was a little stiffer than the regular leather for the first hour of wearing.

What a comfortable shoe. Only problem for me, I have bunions and the strap irritates that area. Will try another style. Thanks Zappos - excellent customer service!

Let me just add: I have this in Grey Etna (which I love, it is a shiny, textured dark grey) and I recently ordered it in the desert buffalo leather. The desert color was darker than what I expected...a dark brown with a bit of tan undertone. It's beautiful and soft and all good, but I wanted a lighter color.

I can't add much to the glowing reviews here but to say I absolutely love these shoes. But, I did have to order three pairs of this color (gray etna) to find pairs whose leather matched properly, and, though I usually wear a 35.5 or 36, the 35 fits perfectly. Love them!

These (Mephisto Helen) are amazing. I have had 3 pairs and will keep getting them. They are better than barefoot. On my very first pair, I had had them for a week and walked all the way from the Natural History Museum in NYC to the Brooklyn Bridge. This is about 75 blocks, give or take. They were awesome. One thing I like about them is that they are not snug but not loose/floppy either (which I find Birkenstocks.) They also have enough heel so they don't feel too flat/negative heel-like, but also no strain. I have tried many, may brands of comfort sandals and these are the best.

I recently had a bout with plantar fasciitis and knew that I needed to get a better sandal with good arch support. I had heard of Mephisto years ago, but didn't bother because of high prices. After reading all the 5 star reviews of the "Helen" I figured to give it a shot and waited anxiously for the arrival of the Fedex truck with my delivery. Needless to say, I tried the Helen on and immediately fell in love with the perfect fit, comfort and beautiful look of this sandal! I love the glam of the sand cobra! I wear a 9 1/2 shoe and the size 9 Helen fit me perfectly, so I would go a half-size down. Want another color right away, the sandals are beautiful and fit is great!

This item was not small as suggested in the product information. I ordered up a size and it was too large. It is true to size, not small at all.

Oh my God! I have so many shoes and sandals, sometimes I find a pair in my closet that I have totally forgotten that I own. Why have I not found these sandals sooner? They are simply amazingly comfortable. I just received them and put them on, I do not want to take them off. I have a wide foot and they fit perfectly. I didn't expect them to look so stylish, I will be ordering them in white and black ASAP. Thank you Zappos for offering this amazing sandal. Buy with confidence!

Having been raised in a Birkenstock household, I felt bad purchasing these initially. They are so, so comfortable. The footbed is very soft, and has a wonderful support. Sizing was close to needing to go up half a size you may find. I'm very happy with these.

I absolutely love my Mephisto Helen sandals! I usually wear a size 8, but because there was a suggestion to go up a size I did, and the 9 is a good fit. Actually, if there was a half size an 8 1/2 would probably be perfect. I have recommended them and definitely will purchase others. My only wish is that when there are reduced prices that I could find them in my size...that seems to never happen. Buy them! You can't go wrong!

Most comfortable and supportive sandal ever. I discovered this sandal when I was suffering with plantar fasciitus.I've purchased 5 pairs. Just wish I could wear them all year long but winters in Illinois don't work with sandals. The first couple of times I wear them I loosen to the next hole till the footbed forms to my foot then return to the original hole. I recommend using the cork sealer to protect from water damage.

Cannot add anything to the stellar reviews of this model except to add that I have been a fan for a long time. Did, however, want to add a comment regarding 'break in' time based on recent purchase. I have always ordered the 'waxy leather' finish and was able to put them on my feet and off I went. This time I ordered glossy (and am not sure if there is any difference between glossy and patent leather) and did actually need some break in time probably because the leather is a bit stiffer. So those of you who are used to putting them on and going or for first time buyers just consider that there may be a need to go easy the first few times you wear the glossy and probably the patent leather. Nothing worse than putting on a sandal for an all day wear that you know to be comfortable and finding out it may not immediately be so because of the finish of the leather. BTW, the glossy is gorgeous!

Wonderful shoes...much more comfortable than Birkenstocks. The color looks like a beautifully varied pewter and is even prettier in person. Zappos is amazing, always a great place to shop.

I ordered both the brown and the blue ones and am enjoying them both. The footbed is very comfortable and cool to the foot. I ordered my regular European size and it just barely fits (so be aware if you order these sandals that your size may change a bit). I went to a local store that handles Mephistos, tried on a couple of sizes, making sure the footbeds were the same as these, and then ordered the shoes. Overall, I am very happy with Mephistos and Zappos, too. The free return shipping made my sizing quandary a non-issue as I originally ordered the wrong size.

Great shoes. Will definitely buy from Zappos again. I ordered two pairs of shoes in two different colors. There was some variation in size since one pair fit and the other was a little snug. It was very easy to send back the other pair and no return shipping charge!

4th pair! Can't beat these for comfort. Especially when walking in the heat of summer. Comfy and cool.

These are the first Mephistos I have purchased and I love them! They are extremely comfortable and do not slip on my feet. I have own several pairs of Birks and did not think I would find that I liked these as much but I actually like them better as they seem to have more cushion and support. I highly recommend them.

Very nice fit, looks good, overall perfect, a little rough around toe strap after walking for about 7 hours but not enough to rub sores. I recommend.

Amazing sandal. They are my 3rd pair in 5-6 years. It'll be hard to wear them out if you wear them every day. I had one pair that lasted 2 years. They are comfortable, fashionable, well made. Fantastic overall.

Awesome shoe. It is so comfortable and good looking. I can walk in this for days. This is the first Mephisto I have tried and will definitely get more. Zappos has the best customer service.

Most comfortable sandal ever. Wish they came in half sizes but that is the only teeny little complaint. These sandals are truly fantastic and dress up any outfit.
