Best supportive sandal – I have been wearing Mephistos Elka for five years now and they are the most comfortable and best supportive sandal for me feet and back I have ever experienced. The fit is superb and the look is very stylish. I just ordered another pair because I don’t want to give up the comfort. Also, they are very durable... I wore them for five years almost every day! I highly recommend them.

GREAT FLATTERING SHOE! Love this shoe! Great support all around and a perfect heel height. The diagonal straps are very flattering, even when your feet are puffy after a day of walking. I have the black patent and receive a compliment every time I wear them. Very comfortable footbed. If you haven't worn a quality supportive shoe for a while, this may take a time or two to get used to. Your foot is completely supported and because of the adjustable straps, there is very little movement side-to-side to cause discomfort. My only comment - - the front of the shoe does narrow considerably and if your toes are more "squared", you may initially feel a little rubbing at the small toe, but this does go away as the shoe "customizes" to your foot. Terrific shoe - wish they made this in some fun Nubuck colors!

Mephisto Elka- I’ve worn the above shoe before-I’ve had it for the past 6 years. I love the fit and comfort. I have a very difficult time finding shoes that I truly love. The Elka is awesome!! It can be hard to find. Zappos had it and I ordered from them for the first time and was very pleased.

If you are stranded on an island and you can only take one pair of shoes...this is it! In the past 5 years, I have had two sprained ankles and a broken foot and I could not have made it without Elka! If you are currently in one of those "boots", this shoe has the perfect height to wear along with it. And after you are out of the "boots", the width can be adjusted to accommodate any residual swelling. Of course later you adjust the width back to your normal size. So that is just one reason why I think you should buy this. The other reasons are listed below! I have had Elka in various colors over the past 10 years but the black one is the one I have resoled two times already due to frequent wear. When you start wearing your pair and you notice how it molds to your feet completely, you will understand why you can never let an old pair go.

Comfort plus - I have worn the Elka for probably the past 10 years. It is the most comfortable shoe/sandal I have ever worn. The quality and workmanship is superior. Don't ever quit making it!!!

Great shoe - You need to wear this shoe for a day before it is comfortable, it needs to form to your feet. I have a very narrow foot AAAA and this shoe fit great. Shoes with straps can be taken to a shoe repair shop and have extra holes put in. This is a great shoe and very comfortable. I really love it.

Elka Review - I've had difficulty finding a comfortable, attractive sandal with a lot of arch support. This sandal is the one!!!

I LOVE MEPHISTOS! This is my 3rd pair of Mephisto sandals and my first pair of Elka's and although they are "pricier" comfort sandals, they are WELL worth the money! I have worn all my Mephisto's year-round and until they are literally falling apart after a year or two or almost daily wear (and I am TOUGH on my shoes, on my feet all day with preschoolers, outside on the playground, running, etc.)...my only "complaint" is that once you start wearing them, your feet seem to get into "correct" alignment and spread into what their "normal" spread should be and, thus, all other brands of closed toe and dress shoes feel uncomfortable and too tight!! I always end up having to go back to either athletic shoes or my Mephisto's for comfort and proper foot support! And to those worried about them starting out a little "narrow" and "tight"---they really do loosen and stretch to fit and conform to your foot pretty quickly and have adjustable hardware to loosen them at first, and then tighten over the years as you wear them and they loosen. I simply cannot recommend them highly enough---that are fabulous!

Best shoe ever - I purchased these for a trip to Europe 5 summers ago--I am still wearing them today, and can't believe how wonderful they still are. All others complained about their feet hurting after miles of tours--not me! Best money ever spent on shoes.

Love Mephisto but Elka is 1 size too small - I was surprised that my toes hung over with this style (size 11 doesn't seem to correlate with the specific European sizing). Even though they were too small I can't wait for the correct size to arrive as you can feel that terrific Mephisto comfort just trying them on. I've worn a pair of Mephisto Helen's for so many years that the cork is finally starting to disintegrate. Even though he's not crazy about the Helen style, my husband keeps bugging me to just get a new pair of Helen's; that I've certainly got my money's worth but I won't part with my old pair even though they look pretty sad. That's how much we love our Mephisto's! Please rush Elka, I can't wait to wear a new Mephisto style.

Mephisto Elka - I really do love this sandal. It looks good with almost anything and is very comfortable. I do wish that Mephisto would make it in more colors.

I have 4 pairs of your shoes but this the style that fits best. I have very narrow feet, flat and double jointed feet so it is very hard, to say the least, to find shoes that are stylish and stay on my feet. I also have to be able to put removal arch supports in these shoes. I used to work at "The Goodfeet Stores" in Raleigh, NC and when I sold the arch supports to women showed them how your shoes could be adapted to wear the supports in them. I have worn this particular shoe for about 4 or 5 years and it is very thing I want, plus God only knows comfort. I have no fat on my feet so the uppers must be soft and these are. I also have 2 pairs of the shoes with velcro on the straps and had to take them to have buckles put on in order for them to stay on my feet.

Best walking sandals ever & attractive, too - 6 years of walking in my beautiful coral Elkas and they are still in good shape, and they are still the most comfortable.

My comfort for nine years - I discoved Mephisto Elka nine years ago and I have never worn another shoe since. I had been plagued with a bad back and sore feet for years and walking shoes were terrible looking. When I first bought Elka,my walking problems disappeared. I have bought them in every color available and wear nothing else. The black patent works very well for formal occasions. The styling is chic for a walking shoe. I am very warm-blooded and enjoy the coolness of Elka all year long and in every climate, including Alaska and Greece. As a senior citizen, I needed a shoe I could walk in comfortably anywhere at anytime. One word of warning; if you decide to have both black and blue pairs, be sure to dress in the light as they look alike in the dark; I wore a "pair" to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California and as we entered my date commented that "I'll bet you have a pair exactly like THAT at home". No one else seemed to notice but us, and it afforded us a good laugh.

Favorite shoes - I was happy to find this style again since I'd worn out my first pair. I have very narrow/slim feet and these adjust well for that. I had foot surgery last year and both prior to and since Elka's have been the shoes I go to first (other than tennis shoes and hiking boots). I like that they look great with pants, shorts, skirts and dresses and feel good all the time.

A Mephisto classic. This is a marvelous sandal. It has good looks and great comfort. The leather is initially stiff and unwelcoming, but in time it becomes friendly. It is also adjustable to fit a narrow foot.

Review of Elke - This is my third pair of Elke's. I have fractured my foot in the past and also have a neuroma on my left foot. The Elke's are the most comfortable shoes I own. They are also attractive enough to wear with jeans or skirts and some dresses. I plan to but them in every color.

Mephisto Elka - I LOVE this shoe! Found it in a shoe store in Destin, FL. I dislike that "Mephisto" is on the side, on my white sandals. Other than that complaint, I'm ready to order another pair from Zappos.com!!!

Comfort - My friend has these shoes and told me about how comfortable they were, so I decided to try them for myself and have been wearing them everyday for the past month! I love them! The best purchase I have made all summer.

Great for walking! I have owned several pairs of Elkas after they were suggested to me by my oncology physician group while going thru cancer treatment.I travel worldwide for business and they have gone everywhere. They are wonderful on cobblestones, beaches, in airports, in malls...everywhere. I dread when it is winter where I must travel when they can't go along with me.

My favorite sandal ! It was great to find my favorite sandal on your website...it's not available at the store I've bought them from in the past...kudos for zappos.com

The most comfortable shoe that can go anywhere - I was looking for shoes that would pretty much go anywhere. And, as I travel quite a bit, the Mephisto Elka was the one. These shoes have been to Cuba, Ireland, and recently to New Zealand, and Australia. I ordered another pair awhile ago, and am just as pleased. I've tried other well-known brands, but the Mephisto Elka was the most suitable.
