I have had these for almost four years now and I still love them. I still have my first pair of Doc Martins from 12 years ago and still wear those too. I love my Docs!

Love them - I needed steel toe for my new job, and everyone warned me that I would have a hard time finding something that won't hurt my feet. These were comfortable straight out of the box, and stayed comfortable even during 12+ hour shifts. The service for Zappos is great. I live in Hawaii, and I was surprised how quickly the shoes arrived.

Dr. Marten's got me covered at work - Bought these boots to freshen up my professional look as my old Docs were not as black after 3+ years of dust, dirt and serious mileage. I'm really not that pleased with the toe shape, my others were boxier looking and these are arrow shaped. Just as comfortable none-the-less.

Standing all day - Occupation, Welder...These are the most comfortable shoe for tedious, long, on my feet all day, boot! I could buy anyone's brand, as my employer compensates for purchase, these Doc Martens are the best...I use an insert, but they really don't need one. Third pair, I've owned.

Very comfortable - These are the most comfortable work boots I've ever owned. I work a 12hr rotating shift and I'm walking or standing on concrete the entire time. Didn’t even have to break them in.

Great work boots!!! These boots are very comfortable after I removed the insoles and put some arch supporting ones in. Now they are great! This is my second pair and they have outlasted any other brand I have tried. I am on concrete floors all day 6 days a week and my feet very seldom hurt at all. Overall great boots.

Very comfortable boots - I am very pleased with these boots this is probable the 3rd or 4th time that I have ordered them through Zappos. I work in a manufacturing facility and having to stand on a cement floor during my shift, but with the soft soles it makes it a lot more comfortable, and they are also a nice looking boot for motorcycle riding.

Follow up. I wrote a review about these boots before. I loved them when I got them in Nov. '06 and still love them today! No boots have ever compared to these. I wore them everyday for at least 10hrs! Highest quality boots I've ever worn. Now in Mar '08 the soles are a worn down but are still in working order. At my job I dropped a 400+lb pallet on my toe, no damage to me or the boot. The leather is ripped on the toe from over a year of kicking just about everything. After I got them broken in there were knots on either side where the boots fasten to the sole at the toe. I got insoles for that, but, now the insoles are not needed. My only real problem with these now is that the lining at the heal/ankle(back) is ripped and makes it kind of hard to get off. Otherwise, going on 2 years and still fantastic.

GREAT BOOT - Great boot...so far. I've only had them a few days. I'm still breaking them in...I haven't worn boots in a long time. They felt great out of the box, it took a day or so before I started to feel the discomfort of hot spots on the back of my heels. But this is to be expected. Having read all of the other reviews I bought insoles for them immediately (I like Sof-Sole Athletic)and with the new insoles (I didn't even try them with the original ones...they were quite insubstantial) they feel as good as my running shoes, even walking all day on a hard concrete warehouse floor. Overall, I feel like I got what I paid for, which is all I really want. As for the service, Zappos is OUTSTANDING. Zappos is where I shop for shoes, period. I tell all my friends about you guys, many of whom are equally impressed. Thank you!

I LOVE THIS BOOT!!! I work as a Correctional Officer and am on my feet all day long, sometimes 16 hours a day. This boot is simply fantastic! Not only is it comfortable, but it's lightweight and waterproof to boot! I wear them every single day, and expect them to last a good 5 years.

Great Buy - I shopped quite sometime on the Zappos site for the right boot. I ended up purchasing 2 pairs of Dr. Martens. I am a contractor in Iraq and these boots are the BEST. I work 12 hour days and I walk everywhere we go here pretty much. From day 1 these boots wore well and have great ankle support. We walk on paved and a lot of gravel surfaces here. The gravel surfaces can cause twisted ankles easily. These 8855s are great. The comfort and also the steel toe for added protection are GREAT! The look is GOOD... the thick sole adds to the comfort and look of the boot. I have to mention, I had to have these boots shipped APO, and they arrived in 3 days... That is GREAT!!! ZAPPOS is right on time, APO can be as long as 2 weeks...

Very nice boot, this about my 6th pair of Doc's and these might be the best yet. Like everyone else has said, change the insole!!! I wear these at work so the steel toe is a must, I wish they came in the same style without the steel toe so I can wear them all the time, kinda heavy.

The shoes - I love the shoes! It's the most comfortable pair of Dr. Martens I have ever had.

Chef's shoe - This is the third pair of these Doc Marten's work boots that I have purchased for my boyfriend, who is a hard-working sous chef. They stand up to all of the grease and grime involved in his job and stay tough for about a year. He says that they are comfortable and he is on his feet for 12-16 hours a day. Be warned, though, that they do take a day or two to break in and he was very sorry, on this last pair, that he decided to do that at work rather than around the house for the first couple of wearings. I will definitely buy these for him again. He likes the look of them better than clogs and they also tend to last longer and smell better than clogs.

Awesome boot for work! These docs are extremely comfortable and look great! These are the work boots that I swear by.

Standing in perfection... I recently bought this boot as an anniversary gift for my husband. The fit was perfect, the shoe is splendidly made, and they are rugged as well as stylish. My husband told me they were perfect and it was the best gift I had ever bought him. We plan on ordering another pair in a few weeks just so he'll have another pair for five or so years down the road in case the style changes. I asked him what he thought about waiting for a new style and he said, "But honey, I'm already standing in perfection." And I got a weekend in a cabin for my present. I thank Dr. Marten for that.

Industrial "Docs" These are my first pair of "Docs", I instantly fell in love when I tried them on. I didn't buy them at Zappos but a local store. They are the most comfortable things I've ever worn on my feet (however the factory insoles do need to be replaced), nice & heavy, yet soft. I especially like the industrial width. The soles move with your feet, as if you're barefoot. They take some breaking in though, but after the blisters went away they are PERFECT! Most boots only last me a few months, I got these in November '06 and they're still going strong. The laces could be a lot shorter and the "D" rings make 'em not quite as tight as I'd like. But, I wear 'em everyday, everywhere, no matter what (even right now!) I walk everywhere and I'm always on my feet, it’s literally like walking on air. It almost brings tear to my eye just taking them off to sleep! They've protected my toes countless times at work & the extra thick soles have protected me from nail penetration. I'd suggest them to anyone who needs/wants tough durable work boots. I love these to every extent of the word. Finally I've found boots tough enough for what I put 'em through. I've bought some very expensive boots, all of them only lasted 2-4 months. Thank God for Dr. Martens! These are a must have! I'll never wear any other brand of boots EVER!

Quality - Very happy with the purchase of this boot. Fits great, feels great and I really feel Dr. Martens quality standard is way above the rest.

Love Them! I work in a kitchen (and have back issues). These are just great! I wore them from day one and zero break in time. I did replace the factory insole for something with better arch support. I needed a shoe/boot, where my feet didn't kill at the end of the day, and I wasn't going to roll my foot off of the work mats. This accomplished both.

Doc Martin 8855 Grizzly - I purchased these boots for my son 2 years ago and he just wore them out last month. I had to purchase a pair today for his birthday. He loves the fit and comfort and will not wear any other boot. Thank you Zappos.com.

Dr. Martens 8855 Series Rock - Very comfy... wear them to work just about every day. The steel toes is good... you won't notice them or bother like in some cheaper brands.

Rock on 8855 - I drive a semi for McDonalds! Im on my feet for long periods of time. These boots are the best Ive had! They blow away there lame competition...wolverines...are a joke. They are comfortable and very durable. From day one they feel like Ive worn them for a year. No break in period... Would advise everyone to buy a pair!

I bought these for my husband to work in and he really loves them. He is really hard on stuff generally and needs the steel toe for his job. Looks like they'll stand up to the abuse. He bought an insert however because he has high arches and the one that came with it wasn't enough support.

I wear 'em everywhere!! Got mine at Zappos 1 year ago for work. But I wear 'em 24/7 just about. Sorta heavy at first but I got used to them in a few days and now I even mow the lawn in 'em. For real!! They do run wide though, but I just double up the socks or put in an insole and it’s all good. I put a toe cap on mine as I work on my knees alot and could see I would wear the toe out way before I ever do the rest of the boot; they're made so darn well. And they're OSHA approved, too. Coolness!!
