Brutally honest - After I found out my regular steel toe boots were discontinued, I went looking for a new favorite. Well, these are not it! I read a lot of reviews and thought I found the perfect boot. These boots are not comfortable for concrete walking. I even went and purchased some gel inserts to put in them and they still hurt my feet. I am going out today to try on some more and put these away for an “in case of emergency” pair.

Switched to China, now I'm going to switch to another brand! I've had 3 pair of 8835 boots and 4 pair of 8855. They used to be great. I've got flat feet and they hurt all the time until I got Docs. The last two pairs of 8855 I got were made in China. The first was ok, but ate socks. The last pair are now sitting in the entry not getting worn. I went back to an old pair of 8835 made in England. I saved the last 8835 as they weren't worn out yet before I started getting 8855s. Now I guess I'll go to Redwings as they are US made.

Dr. Martens 8855 Series Work Boot - This is the most comfortable work boot I've ever had. I'm a crane operator, so I don't put a lot of wear and tear on them. But I had 3 pairs and the sole split on all 3 pairs. I wish they didn't because, like I said, they're the most comfortable boots ever.

Dr.Marten is better than this - Good exterior construction, yet very poor interior. The pad is paper thin and keeps sliding and the boot weight is average for steel toe. It keeps rubbing holes in toes of socks (average for any steel toes I guess). Overall I'm very disappointed, I have owned many pairs of Docs, from dress to work. I am not satisfied at all with this boot.
