I usually wear a size mens 9 in any other shoes but I went ahead and ordered a size 8 mens after seeing reviews saying that these boots run a full size larger. I'm glad I did because the size 8 fits perfect. The only problem I have with these boots is that they chewed the back on my heels up today while walking in them. They gave me blisters on both my back heels and pinky toes. I'll be putting on thicker socks next time when i wear these boots. Overall I'm happy with the boots and would recommend. A+ for Zappos fast shipping time and excellent customer service. I ordered on Sunday and received them today Tuesday the 10th of May.

First-time buyer of a desert boot and I'm sold. Great shoe and so comfortable! I wear them every; casual and semi-formal with a blazer. I have a mid-to-high arch but I don't really notice the lack of arch support and I feel like I could wear these walking all day. I thought the shoe would fit very loosely but was surprised. I wear an 11.5 in running shoes (Mizuno &a Saucony) and an 11 in dress shoes (Boston) and an 11 in this desert fits perfectly. The reason for only 4 stars overall: My only criticism is that the sole gets nasty dirty. And also, I recommend buying some sort of spray to protect the suede because it will get dirty.

First off, this is a great looking boot. I have the beeswax leather and it looks great with jeans or khakis. However it is a bit uncomfortable. I am tempted to return them, but they look so nice I am going to put up with it and hope they break in nicely. And as the reviewers say...order a half a size or maybe even a full size down, as these run large.

Overall, a great addition to any shoe lineup. Not the most comfortable, but comfortable enough. I walk a few miles through NYC every day with these no problem. Sizing is larger than normal. I usually buy 11 sneakers (Puma, Adidas, Asics) and had to get a 10 in these. Quality wise, not as great as more expensive desert boots, but fine for the price. After a year of wearing these 4-5 times a week, the nubuck upper has started to become unglued from the welt (still held down by stitching, though). Warning about the sole - crepe soles are great, but after a month of wear the traction decreases. This is fine in general, but when it rains it makes any semi-smooth surface seem like you're walking on ice. This is particularly tricky here where the sidewalk surface changes every 100 feet or so.

This is a great shoe, and my first pair. As for style, you will get many compliments. However, they could be a bit more comfortable. I had to buy four different sizes before I could match with a Clarks. I'm a 9 1/2' and had to go down to a 7 1/2'. The heel rubs in the shoes, and I get blisters. This goes away with breaking them in, or buying heel grips. Nonetheless, this is a great shoe. If it didn't fit right then it probably is because I have weird sized feet or thin ankles or something. I recommend everyone to try a pair.

Very comfortable, very classic. Would have preferred a darker brown though.

A little bit disappointed at the way the boots look as compared with the side view on the internet. the way the front of the shoe is rounded looks like "old people" shoes and knocks the style down to 3 for me. the teak destroyed model really does look like you've walked through a construction site and have oil or something spilled on them. not what i was expecting, but they still look good. they are heavy, but feel good and are comfortable.

These desert boots are nothing special, but they are a good shoe, fit, and were sent on time. They are also very reasonably priced. What makes them special to me, though, is the fact that I found my size! With size 6-1/2 (man's) feet I can almost never find shoes in my size in a store. I usually find something I don't like in size 7, but that's the best I can do. There are very few of those, even. These boots are not as comfortable at my old lined, Italian desert boots (20 years old, stained, resoled about 4 times) but these look much better and will do nicely.

First of all, I'm female, so this review is particularly for other women who love the looks of this boot. Clarks Desert Boots have always run large, so I knew to order down in size. In women's sizes I wear a 10-1/2. In men's shoes I wear an 8 [except for Keen's which typically run a 1/2 size small]. I also have narrow feet. These fit beautifully. The length and width feel almost custom made for my feet. I do have two minor issues: the first is no arch support...but since I don't have a high instep, they are still fairly comfortable. Secondly, there is no firm shank in these to support the mid-sole area...so while the shoes feel great on carpeting, the soles are not very supportive on sidewalks and your feet will tire fairly quickly. Still, they're fine for going out to eat, to a movie, or for a short stroll. All in all, I love these boots even though I cannot give them 5 stars. Indoors, they are as comfortable as slippers, and they look very sharp in jeans or chinos. Hope this review is helpful.

They look great, good with jeans and khakis. I had to send them back because they were too big, for me they ran at least a 1/2 size too big. I usually were a 9 or 9 1/2, I ordered these in a 9 and they were much too large in length, the width felt true to size. I'm waiting for Zappos to get an 8 1/2 in stock and Ill try them again and hope they fit. I really like the way they look. I had no problem returning them, Zappos is great with returns.

Got them today and they look nothing like the picture. They appear as a mottled yellowish color and don't seem like the leather in the picture. I'm just blown away with the discrepancy between the picture and what came.

In an effort to diversify my shoe selection in the event of inclement weather such as rain or temperatures colder than 70 degrees, I picked up these boots. Despite the fact that I live in LA where it hardly ever rains and is never cold, I still try to find an appropriate occasion to rock the chukkas. I saw similar shoes at a retailer, but they were twice the price, so I looked to Zappos for a solution and was not let down. The shoes aren't the most comfortable in the world (I prefer my boat shoes) but they get the job done in terms of versatility as I can wear them out at night and not look too casual but also not look like I think it's cool to wear my wing tip dress shoes with jeans. The laces are super thin. They almost feel like they were made for other shoes. I got a small little know on one of the laces and now it's impossible to undo. Just some advice, I put gel insoles in mine and sprayed them with water/stain repellent and might need to get new laces in the future. Also, the soles start off that nice honeycomb color and turn black after the first wear on any surface less clean than an operating table.

Had my eye on these for a while. They look great, but the sizing, as has been mentioned before is a little weird. I am usually a size 13, and these were way too big. I will be returning them, but if you get the size figured out I think that they\'ll be really nice. Nothing but good things to say about Zappos so far. Shipping was fast, and on a subsequent order I got bumped up to overnight shipping for free.

These are good shoes. I wanted something that was functional, but stylish. Comfort is always an issue for me too, so I am always wary when buying new shoes. \r\n\r\nThese took about a week to break in, but were never terrible. The worst it got was actually a function of inserts I had bought. I tossed them and since then they\'ve been a dream.\r\n\r\nLook great with jeans and khakis. Seem "rugged" but can be worn in business casual setting.\r\n\r\nComfortable for normal wearing. Arch support is a little lacking, but not terribly so.\r\n

Clarks's Desert Boot - Very roomy in the heel, and the lace-up seems very weak & flimsy compared with other "boots" I'm used to, but it may well prove to be perfectly adequate. However, the most important qualities to me are that they're well-made, very soft and cool for walking, and they look great. I'm pleased overall.

Watch your size!! Love desert boots and bless you zappos for having them available. If you've not owned these guys before watch your size. I wear US 11 1/2 - 12 but wear a 10 1/2 desert boot. They stretch out with wear so a bit tight to start but then they ease in just right. Perfect for all your modern action needs.

Blast from the Past... I had worn Clark's Wallabees while working overseas in the '80s and loved the fit and comfort. As a kid I had worn 'chukka' boots with jeans in the '60s. So when I spied the desert boots from Clarks I naturally decided to take the plunge. Unfortunately, either my memory or my feet have changed considerably over time. These are well made (as all Clarks are) shoes with the classic look that goes with jeans or kakhi pants. But the comfort is not the reason to buy them. The gum sole is in fact the only saving grace - as it provides some measure of spring in your step but not much. In this day of high-tech, track-shoe insoles, Clarks needs to seriously consider revamping (no pun intended) the insides to give better support and comfort. Other than this, the shoe is true to the boots I remember!

Feels a little cramped compared to other 10 1/2 sizes but it's okay. I love the shoe and get comments all the time.

Wear them loosely - Great looking boot, but the first few times I wore them, the top of my foot got sore. This is because the laces only cross once, meaning only one point of contact with the foot. The also don't lace up very high. However, if you wear them very loosely... presto! Very comfortable. Takes a little getting used to, but worth the effort.

Big Pimpin in this smart Desert Boot - Laurence of Arabia move over, there is something meaner. You will be keeping your pimp hand strong in these stylish and practical suede chukkas. From a weekend in the country, to a night in the city, this shoe does it all. Give this shoe a few wearings to break in. You will note some slight stiffness/rubbing in the top our your foot the first time you try them on.

Hot Diggity Dog - Wore them all through High School 405 years ago. Still feel the same. Very comfortable but be careful on slippery surfaces. Great look and wonderful feel all over. Feels larger than marked size but I remembered to order 1/2 size down from what I usually wear.

A timeless classic - This boot was worn by British troops in the North African desert campaigns of WW 2. I remember wearing out a few pairs during my high school days in the 70's. (I think Steve McQueen was partial to these boots.) It's a decent boot for use in dry weather . Needs a liitle breaking in though to be truly comfortable.

Chuka Boot - These are the most comfortable shoes money can buy. Hard to find, but worth the wait. The only draw-back is these shoes only come in Medium width. However, if you've ever owned a pair of original Clark's desert boots, you know that they stretch over time. I am so glad I found these shoes after more than 30 years.

Good Guy Boots - Comfort is very important, I gave them 4 stars because they dont come for wider feet and If you are in this category you will feel some discomfort until they expand. Then there's a little problem with the sole. I'll be honest with you, I really dont know what is made of, but it looks and feel like a rubber band so they dont have any traction. Maybe thats why they call them desert boots. Made for warm weathers. In summary you have to be a pasive and easygoing guy to wear this shoes because they are not meant for trouble makers. They will look great with boot cuts or rodeo jeans. Very fashionable. I love mines.
