Comfortable enough for every day, yet fits with the suit. Great shoe that lasts. I am on my second pair. They have lasted well over 1 1/2 years. I wear them every day. I used to wear a black (Reebok) athletic walking shoe, but they lasted 6 to 8 months max. Ecco still looks great after a year. The insole and support do not collapse either. I am looking at buying my next pair soon. I recommend them to everyone.

Best pair of casual shoes ever - These shoes appear narrow; however, I normally wear a 4E in New Balance shoes and I can wear these shoes in there standard D size. I had the same experience others have had concerning the soles. I purchased an earlier model which had major sole issues. The soles disintegrated quickly, even with limited use. Apparently the new version has a dark sole and appears to be able to last longer. I definitely recommend these shoes for those with flat wide feet.

One More Try - I had the same experience others have had here. I purchased an earlier model which had major sole issues. The soles disintegrated quickly, even with limited use. Other than that, they are good looking and comfortable. I'm going to give them one more chance.

This shoe was a size smaller than advertised. It seems that for sizes larger than 12 you need to go one size larger than you normally wear. The arch is very high, so if you have low arches this shoe will not feel comfortable. Overall the shoe is decent but not as comfortable as expected.

"CROSS COMFORT" The Ecco Cross has proven to be a most comfortable and supportive shoe. I work in a 27,000 sq. ft. store and need a great shoe to get me through the day. Combine that with Zappos quick shipping and handling I always feel good about my purchase.

Arch rival - I typically wear size 15 shoes. I first tried the size 49 Ecco Cross, but it was much too tight. I then up-sized to a 50 (thanks, Zappos, for your awesome exchange and return policy!!!). The 49 Ecco was about 3/4 inch smaller than my 2-yr old, size 15 Rockport World Tours (sole to sole comparison). The 50 Ecco was a shade smaller than the Rockports. The size of the Ecco 50 was OK on my foot, but the arch support was just too much (like standing on a 4-inch dowel, rocking back and forth). Fit well otherwise -- perhaps a bit narrow. I ended up sending them both back. Seemed like at good shoe, though.

Ecco Cross - Initially was uncomfortable in the upper heal, but this resolved quickly. Now very comfortable. Increased arch support would help.

Ecco Cross - Excellent shoe for the price. But the real joy is Zappos.com: the service, product, price, and faster than fast shipping forces me to shop here first and then compare.

SUPERB COMFORT--WILL IT LAST?? Great comfort, but cannot store too long and soles will eventually split by the logo, often prematurely. Have owned 10+ pairs. Some last well worth the price; some don't--it's a risk!!

Outstanding shoe... but... Great shoe, and would highly recommend. I have owned more than 6 pairs of Ecco’s over the years, but after hearing all of the "Mephisto" talk- I decided to give them a go. Bottom line- they are markedly superior in EVERY aspect. Unsurpassed quality and comfort. These are wonderful shoes... but I assure you- Mephisto’s are worth the extra $.

Pricey but worth it- These are shoes that are for people on their feet all day long, and I mean all day! I work in a retail drug store and with very few exceptions, am on my feet constantly. These shoes are not only stylish and fashionable; they provide arch support and all day foot comfort.

Look good, feel good, but... Good Fitting Shoe - Poor Durability - These shoes look and feel great, but like another reviewer the soles worn out and cracked in less than a year...they have to change the soles to more durable rubber like some other shoe brands of similar price

Perfectable - THis was my second pair of Crosses (and my 6th pair of Eccos). THe first lasted me 4 years of wear at least a few times per week, then the sole shredded. They had become favorites quickly, but I had forgotten that I had to customize them a bit. THe arch support on these shoes is aggressive. I solved the problem but cutting up a Scholl's foam insert and placing it before and behind the arch, softening the impact on my feet. With that, I can wear these shoes all day and feel great, and they are great shoes to walk in. The new pair was made in a different country than the first pair, and the quality seems to be a bit lower, but not where it's visible or detracts from the experience. I like the look, too. A nice mix of casual and sport. Sturdy and low maintenance.

Good shoe - I have had three pairs of Ecco Cross before and I would have to say this is the first pair where the fit seemed a bit smaller than the others that I have had.

Extremely Comfortable Shoe - This is one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes that I have had the pleasure of wearing. The styling makes it adaptable to both casual and dress occasions. It comes out of the box with a non-glossy appearance, however if you desire a more glossy look, just polish and buff with ordinary black dress shoe polish.

Ecco Cross sent back for refurbish - I loved the shoes; the fit, the comfort, the style, but when they wore out (too fast) I sent them back to Ecco to be refurbished and they came back a different shoe, uglier and less comfortable and the refurbish job lasted far less than the original. They either have to lower the proce or make them to last longer. I'm trying Clark's next.

Lightweight, agile shoe - I had not heard of the Ecco brand before purchasing this shoe. I wanted a comfortable shoe that offered plenty of support yet still maintained a slender appearance. I have heard the soles of these shoes do not last long, but I will reserve judgement until I have owned mine for a longer period time. I routinely travel (business-casual) and only take with my the Cross. It has performed well. The mocassin style tends to wrap tightly around my little toe. This reduces the comfort and overall scores to 4 stars. Otherwise, the shoes offer great support.

Best shoe ever worn! This is by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned! Just wish two things to make it perfect: 1) Wish the midsole arch didn't wear down before the sole or shoe did (saw lots of reviews about the sole...mine still are great except for the arch has flattened inside the shoe) and 2) wish it was a bit more dress casual. Otherwise, the PERFECT shoe...great comfort, good looks, and long lasting (I've had mine over 4 years and wear them at least 3 days a week, the toe leather on the upper is wearing a bit now...more polish/leather conditioner would have resulted in longer wear...my bad).

Jim's review - I wish the shoes were available in a extra wide size. They are comfortable when broken in, but would fit better in an extra wide size

Pluses and minuses for the Ecco Cross Shoe - For the price of them I felt they should wear longer then they do. My first pair, the sole wore out too soon. On the second pair the threads or stitching came undone across the toe area. They have, however, been the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I would like them to be just one step up to be more dress-casual. H. Barlow

Ecco Cross is The most Comfortable Shoe I Own - Great feel, support and look. Only problem is the outer sole is very soft and wears through prematurely. (I've been told that the shoe can be sent back to ECCO for resoling--but I've just kept replacing them--comfortable shoes is one of life's great pleasures!

Wicked Good Shoe - This is my third pair, they are great. The new ones have a black sole, unlike the clear plastic-looking soles on the older ones. If you are on your feel a lot and need comfort, style and looks then this is one true shoe. I had one pair and wore them six days a week for two years with avarage wear.

Disintegrating sole - After three years prepare for the bottom of the shoe to fall apart. Twice I have thrown perfectly good shoes out because chunks of sole came off after walking across sea shells.
