I want so much to love these boots. I've had them for years now and barely wear them for two reasons: they are heavy, so heavy that is tiring to have them on my feet on a day with a lot of walking; and because it is hard to get my foot in them. I once nearly missed a train because I couldn't get my boots on quickly enough. And they are not comfortable enough while they're on me to make either of these problems worth dealing with. It's a shame because they're very attractive boots. I see they have so many great reviews, it almost makes me want to try wearing these boots again, like maybe I'm doing something wrong!

Like many other customers have stated, these boots run large. I am normally a perfect 8.5 in nearly every shoe I wear and my foot width is very normal, but after reading other customers' reviews, I decided to order down a half size and get an 8. The boot is very stiff, although I'd imagine it will break in nicely after a lot of wear, but these are just too big for me to wear comfortably. Although they are stiff and slightly tight around the toe and across the the front of the foot, the heel is very loose and my foot slips up and down easily when I walk, and they seem about 1/2 inch too long for my foot. I think if I ordered down to a 7.5, the toe and mid-foot areas would be too cramped based on the way these fit me. I really wanted these to be my fall/winter go-to shoes, but am returning them and will continue my quest. This is my first time reviewing shoes here, and I realize now that the more we all review our purchases, the better our online shopping experience will be. So, thanks!

Larger than expected. I am a solid size 8 and these are huge. Also, I have a small frame and they are huge around my leg. Great for a big boned gal, but not for me.

Well, I have to say, I am not happy. One of the boots is a little too small. I even went a to a retail store afterwards and tried on another pair similar style that is hard to find which is why I mail ordered and found indeed the boot is possibly made wrong. I have been waiting to see if it will stretch and break in but concerned as to comfortable fit. If I had gone retail I would have noticed this right away. Now the trouble of contacting company, returning, traveling a lot currently and have no way of getting this accomplished easily. Maybe customer service can contact me as to possible way to easily replace the boot as I do love them if they fit. This is a very well made shoe. I would not recommend it if you wear a lot of boot cut jeans. I am very picky and do not like to see the boot line on the outside of my jeans. I refuse to tuck my jeans into the boots. My socks slip off in these as well. They are comfortable but not for a long period of time. This is an extremely sturdy boot, but if I could have designed these myself I would have made the opening of the boot smaller(tighter to the leg). I would have returned them but I have worn them several times.

I wear a 9 in all of my Frye boots and I have many but sized down to 8.5 after reading reviews and they’re still too big. Slip on heal even with thick socks and they’re very heavy and clunky so don’t see these being comfortable at all. I have very skinny ankles and calves and the opening was large. They are very cute tho which is tempting to try next size down but due to the weight of these alone I don’t think I’d be comfortable walking around in them. Unless I really needed a leg workout I suppose. I’ll keep looking....

The mid-calf height of the boot is what I was looking for & this one was perfect. A little heavy but it could be because I ordered a 5.5 and received a 6.5. If Frye made a boot just like this one but with some other strap that isn't so "harness" looking it would be a hit. They did have a similar one mid calf but the quality was so cheap...no lining, no pull on tabs...worst Frye I've ever seen. Perfect that one & you've got a winner for me. I was shipped the wrong size, 6.5 instead of 5.5, so I can't really comment.
