I ordered on Sunday at 10:00 PM and received on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. That was amazing, Zappos! Just when I think you cannot possibly ship faster! And, based on initial fit and impression, I will not need to worry about any returns either. The fit right out of the box was fantastic! Another reviewer stated having some difficulty adjusting the buckle across the instep and thought it was more for aesthetics. I did not have a problem even with the strap leather being stiff. I just gently pushed down on the leather upper and made the needed adjustments. My last pair of Fryes were handed down in great shape after 10 years. I have only worn these extensively for one day but I can tell already that I am going to love owning these boots. Meaning, no hand-me downs this time, honey. Buy your own!

Love these! They are big and clunky, which is what I wanted. A little on the heavy side (to be expected), but very comfy. They broke in quickly, but are well-made and look like they'll last a long time.

I LOVE these boots and really want to keep them. They have a nice, wide toe box, which is perfect for my very wide feet, and they feel nice and cushioned with the interior padding and the Vibram soles. I have many, many feet issues stemming from medical issues and desperately want to keep them. However, the shafts are very stiff and I don't think I will be able to endure the break-in period.

These boots are great! From the first day I put them on I have received so many compliments. Wonderful construction and you can feel the craftsmanship. With that being said, it is a heavier boot and so it does take some time getting used to the weight. Also I do have slightly wider feet so it is a bit snug, but I'm sure the leather will stretch out. This is a solid boot that I KNOW will last me for years to come. I just regret not buying them sooner!!

Really comfortable and very stylish. They are a little hard to put on at first, but once they are on, they feel like gloves. The rubber sole is soft, cushioned, and provides great grip.

I love this cute boot! This, and the Frye Harness boot are quickly becoming my 'go tos' for this fall and winter, and I suspect for a long time to come. Lately, they are pairing up beautifully with jeans and leggings. They are well made, supportive on the feet, and these were comfortable with only minimal break in time. I like that they make my feet look smaller! They have a lot of style and I do not think anyone would be disappointed in these.

I coveted these for awhile before I took the plunge and picked up a pair. I wear a 9.5-10, and I was worried they would look too long and masculine, but they're actually very flattering on my feet and don't make them look like giant boats! The leather is very, very sturdy - there's a hurricane going on right now and if I was dumb enough to go outside, my feet would be safe if I wore these boots. The soles are seemingly resistant to anything, and are very sturdy with nice traction. I wasn't sure what size to pick up, as I had heard from some people that Frye's sizing is crazy, but I decided to go for the 9.5. You'll absolutely need to break these in! I didn't have any trouble at all getting my feet inside them, and they actually feel about a half size larger. (Though I do have very narrow feet.) My heel moves around a bit, and I have room in the toe box, but since I'll be wearing these with thick socks, that's perfectly fine with me. The foot-bed is padded a bit and feels very comfortable. As I said before the leather is sturdy - I do have some aches in my ankles and my calves where the top of the boots hit. Comfort will come with break-in, I'm sure! These look great with skinny jeans and leggings, they are adaptable to a lot of styles. I have them in black, and the leather is matte, almost a rubbery look to the finish. The buckles are great and can be adjusted to help customize your fit, I have smaller calves, so I was able to cinch them up with the top buckle. Overall I am so very happy I purchased these - they are amazingly constructed, have garnered me some compliments already, and I know they'll be the trusted friends of my boot collection when they're broken in!

Love! All my other boots have lost out to these ones since they arrived. Have replaced my Uggs for casual daily wear, since I am 30 something it was about time! Was worried they would need a lot of wearing in as my Frye Veronica slouches gave me a ton of blisters but these were great from the first moment I put them on. That being said after a full day of shopping, chasing the little guy walking the dog and so on my feet are a little sore but I think only runners would solve that and these look a lot better than runners.

The great boot hunt is finally over! As a fan of the original Doc Marten (U.K. version) I like a good, sturdy, rugged boot. But as I've gotten older, I wanted to get away from the Doc tell-tale yellow stitching as it doesn't really work in dressier settings. In the meantime, I received Uggs as a gift which are not sturdy, or rugged, but are super comfortable and ridiculously easy to put on. I tried the Frye Veronica Shortie and they were cute, but not well made at all and didn't feel like they would last. I decided to try the Engineer simply because they are made in the USA. And let me tell you, they are truly the best of both worlds in terms of rugged/sturdy and comfort. They fit perfectly right out of the box. No break-in period, though I am used to sturdy boots, so someone who has been wearing softer shoes might need a short break in. Highly recommended. Go for it!

I love these boots! And I can tell they are just going to get better as they get worn. I am usually a size 7 but I like thick socks in boots and the 7-1/2 fits perfectly. These boots are very well made with strong, thick leather and they have a surprisingly comfortable footbed (and the heel is just right). They look great under my bootcut jeans as well as with leggings and tunics. I'm glad I got the 8R which reaches to 4 inches above my ankle (the 12R hits awkwardly at mid calf). These will be my favorite boots for the rest of my life as they will probably outlast me!

I have a number of different Frye boots and shoes and love this new boot just as much as my others. The quality is excellent as usual. I tend to run between a 7 and 7.5 but in Frye I'm definitely a 7. The leather always loosens up and the twice I opted for the half size bigger I found the size a little too big after the shoe was broken in. This happened with a slip on shoe and my Carson shortie. As for you gals who couldn't get the boot on....stick with it. My husband got me the Shirley riding boot for Christmas last year. I was in tears when I couldn't get my foot into it. I ran to the computer to order the next size up but couldn't find it in the color I wanted. After reading more reviews I learned a great trick-wrap your foot in a plastic bag and it will slip right it. After a short 'break in' period the bag will no longer be needed. I had to do the same thing for these boots and the Harness but I know they will fit wonderfully in a few weeks just like my others. I hope that helps you other wide footed ladies!! As for style, I got the black and it goes with everything-skinny jeans, leggings, short dresses and Maxi skirts. They don't feel too tough and I suspect that they will age nicely.

I had been dying to get these for years and I'm thrilled to say they are worth it. My feet are on the wide side of normal and I usually wear an 8 or 8.5. I ordered the 8.5 and they fit fine. The right one went on a little easier than the left, but they were pretty comfy right away and I wear them all the time. I can't wait until it gets cold again so I can really get more use out of them. I might even get another pair.

Love this boot's style and durability. I am a full size B (if not a little wider), so it's taking a little time to get comfortable on the width, but it's almost there. Love the color and it is true to size.

Super cute and extremely sturdy - felt like I could walk miles in these boots. The quality of the boot is top notch and the style, while tough, is classic and will serve for many years.

I am still trying to decide between the size 8.5 and the 9. The 8.5 feels slightly snug, but the 9 feels and looks a bit heavy and clunky. Any feedback/advice from people who have had them for a while would be helpful.

Great boot! Just what I was looking for and made in USA. I ordered a different style of Fryes and they were cheaper leather. Very thin leather and made in Mexico! Sent those back and love these!

I received my Frye Engineer 8R W boots about a month ago and they've not left my feet. Although slightly snug out of the box, they slipped on easily and required minimal breaking in. I can put these on and know that my feet will be comfortable all day. I find that they run true to size, but a little roomy in the heel/toe. But the durable leather is already waterproofed, but you may want to treat it with mink oil (or Frye conditioning cream) so they'll last longer. Gaucho is a great color that goes with everything and it improves with wear! With the proper care, these boots can last for a long time. They're definitely worth every penny. Ordering from Zappos was a great experience. The boots were ordered on a Wednesday (with an expected shipping of 2-3 days) and arrived on Thursday! I'm definitely ordering again.

I absolutely love these boots. Like some of the other reviewers, I lusted after these a long time before taking the plunge. I think that these days people are not used to full leather shoes and boots since so many products these days include synthetic materials. While these did feel snug initially, I did not send them back. I knew the leather would give to my feet. These are not the kind of boots that you are going to put on and have perfect immediately. These need breaking in, and are meant to, over time, conform to your feet and become old friends that you never want to part with. I gave them four stars for this fact, but frankly once they are broken in, they are five stars all the way. I love my Fryes.

I have only had the boots for a few days. They fit perfect. The only downside is that they are really stiff. I'm sure once I wear them for awhile they will be amazing. I will update my review in a few months.

The only complaint is that the shoes are super tight on my arches but they've softened a bit. Love them otherwise!!! Wear them everywhere. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I bought these around six months ago. They're super cute with all outfits from dresses to jeans. The only negative thing is that they take awhile to break in, in fact even though I've worn them several times, if I wear them for more than a few hours, they start to hurt. Maybe it's because I have a wider foot? I have gotten several compliments on them :) The leather is really great quality, something that you expect from Frye boots. It's my third pair of Fryes

Love these boots I wear them everyday in all weather conditions and they've held up well. My only complaint is that the arches are really tight even though I have narrow feet but they have stretched out a little with wear

Beautiful shoes but I should have an order at least a half size if not a full size up. I didn't think my feet were that wide but I ended up having to buy a shoe stretcher to make wearing them bearable. I am an 8 in other boots and prob should have ordered 8.5 to 9. I've had them for a few weeks though and they are finally starting to break in a bit.

Perhaps if I'd given them time to break in, they'd have been fine, however right out of the box they were brutal on my high (but not super high) instep-- wearing them for just a few minutes left big red marks on the tops of my feet. Combined with that, they were clunkier than I'd expected on my size 10 feet, so I ended up returning and getting a pair of Jenna engineers instead, which came with much more supple leather though a much less industrial sole. They were tough to get into (because of the high instep) but otherwise true to size.
