These are excellent shoes, made for the natural position of the foot with the wide toe box for normal toe splay and the zero drop. The material is very comfortable, almost like a sock. Requires no break-in. They are very padded on the bottom which I am not a huge fan of, but I got them for extended pavement running where it would be useful to lessen the impact of the hard unnatural ground on my body. This is the standard for natural foot position distance running on hard surfaces shoes.

Love the shoe. The toe box is roomy and comfortable. The shoe seems to run small. I ordered a 9 1/2, my normal shoe size but it was cramped. I contacted customer service and arranged to get a half size larger and it was perfect. Arrived the next day! Can't ask for anything better than that.

Fit great. Some really amazing semi-maximallist shoes for running or even just walking. Could even be good gym shoes. I tried the Altra Duos first, and had to immediately return them due to the very poorly designed material on their uppers, but the fit was good. I switched to these Paradigm 4's instead since they were listed as pretty equivalent. I have not been disappointed. The uppers are made of a high quality durable and slightly elastic cloth that feels like it does a decent job wicking any sweat away. The front of the upper has holes punched thru the material that actually allows real breathing, unlike most sneakers where the "holes" seem to be more for appearance than anything else. The laces are a much more durable flat-lock style than I've ever seen before, and the tongue is much thinner than most shoes, reducing pressure on the top of the foot. The soles are nice and thick, with good padding that feels sturdy but supportive. Unlike some old Nike Zoom 3's I owned, the padding under the forefoot actually feels like it will hold up long term. The rest of the padding in the shoe is slightly stiffer, which gives support for heel strikes as well as side-to-side agility. Noted on the bottom of the shoe are a couple colored edge pieces on the outside edges of each shoe where the sole meets the ground. They're very solid and seem to connect to an internal support structure within the sole itself. They have a small printed name on them "Stabilipod", and they really do help with stability. Other maximalist shoes have problems with edge support, making them largely unreliable for agility or even cornering. The Stabilipods are perfectly placed to provide edge stability when you push off the outside edge of your forefoot. Internally the fit is on the wider side of normal. The interior sole though has a slight dip into the center to keep your foot from sliding around. Being on the wider side, it also means your feet won't reach the edges of the insole even when your feet expand while running/walking and you won't get the resulting hot-spots.

Simply put, I love these shoes. I just bought a second pair. I wear them all the time. I have osteoarthritis in my big toe joint (like having a bunion), so comfortable shoes aren’t easy to find. I like the toe box and shape of this shoe. I feel more stable with a shoe that keeps my foot low to the ground. I tried a number of the Altra shoes. They all fit differently and these were the best for me..

I am a 64 year old femal. I wear a size 6.5/7 and/or 27 EU size shoe. I wear a size 5 in this boys shoe. I am an avidAltra shoe zero drop wide toe bed gal for complete comfort. I HIGHLY recommend these shoes. Great arch support, not wide at the heel and that nice wide toe box. I bought a pair on every color except black.

As recommended, I bought these half a size up of what I use to buy, and they fit perfectly. Like all Altras, these are zero drop; if you are not used to it, take your time to transition - your Achilles will thank you. Also, they have minimal cushioning, so proper running form is absolutely required. With that out of the way... These shoes are awesome. Light, fast, comfortable. I'm completely in love with them. I'm an avid runner who burned through several pairs of Altras, and these are by far the ones I like the most.

I love these shoes, they are the first shoes I've found that keep my ankle from turning outward (supinating or underpronating) so I've been able to walk longer distances again. I wish they had a thicker sole like the Olympus though. I will say that Altra seems to be shrinking the width of their shoes, I had to buy mens to get a wider fit, the women shoes are just to narrow and I'm still trying to decide if I need to buy a 1/2 size larger in the mens version.

I got these for dog walking, dog jogging, and the occasional hill sprint and they are doing the job. I hate shoes in general so i rarely wear them but when i have to my choices are limited to those with wide toe boxes. These WTB shoes are more often than not hideous, i’m talking about you Keens, or clown-like like Birkenstocks. Somebody at Altra is making an effort to make shoes that look “normal.” My only complaint so far is the logos and branding on the shoes but since i got the black ones, that’s toned down a bit.

I ordered a full size above what I usually do due to the reviews saying it was too small and turned out for me to be a full size too big

I sooo wanted to like these - I've worn Hokas for years, but wanted something less bulky. Altra are a reputable brand and I was looking for a light weigh zero drop shoe which would be suitable for hiking and trail running. Unfortunately these didn't work for me. The toe box was extremely wide and there was no lateral support. As soon as I got on a trail, my foot was sliding side to side, and this caused the laces to rub on the front of my foot. They also ran really small, my toes were hitting the front of the shoe on the downhill. I figured I would just them for cross training in the gym instead, since they weren't suitable for the trial. Unfortunately the shoe would cause my foot to move around so much that they were not comfortable or stable. Thanks to Zappos amazing customer service, they are being returned and I'll be sticking with my usual Hokas.

Like other reviewers, I found these narrower than other Altras. I have two pairs of Altra sneakers that fit my unusually wide forefoot well. These were too narrow, and as others noted, oddly tight in the mid foot. I think part of the issue is that the lacing doesn’t go far enough toward the toes, if that makes sense. However, these were also narrower at the toe. For reference, my foot is basically a triangle with the wide part at the front. I usually buy the widest women’s shoes I can find or I switch to men’s wides for things like hiking boots. Altras are about the only shoes I’ve ever found that I can comfortably wear the standard width in— but not this pair. If your feet are not ridiculous like mine though, the material felt great and I bet they would be very comfortable.

I love this shoe. Had to add an insert but that’s ok. I walk miles in these shoes. Unfortunately Altra changed the new 3.5 style. No where near as comfortable as these.

The Altra Paradigm 4 is much improved over the previous version of the shoe. The heel fit is better, the cushion of the insole is better though still not as "solid or firm" as older versions, laces up well, like the new knit fabric (surprisingly) though I do wish the front of the shoe was a solid knit rather than the open weave design. Still wearing my standard size with Altra. I am a long time Zappos customer and the service has always been awesome but... In the past year or so (with current Altra Paradigm and previous version), it has been challenging to always find my size available. I was hoping this availability and ease of purchasing would improve but it has not. When the new Paradigm version came out in July I ordered three pairs. My size quickly sold out and has not yet been restocked. I am open to second or third color choices but all, at this writing, are sold out. I even signed up for in stock notifications. I hope I can depend on Zappos to have my shoe size available and in stock in the future. Altra is the only brand I wear due to unique foot needs.

I was a fan of the original Escalante and find the 1.5 to be a slight improvement. Biggest difference is a bit more cushion in the sole, otherwise feel, fit, and performance are similar. For me, this is the best Altra shoe since the Torin 2.0

The toe box in these is absolutely massive. The size was also a bit big. Re-ordering in a half size down to see if that helps. Ordered in my usual running shoe size and feels like I’m walking in clown shoes.

Great shoe, Altra really heard customers complaints about the LPs 3.5 running a bit more narrow than its predecessors, so I feel that they went back and adjusted that issue in later productions of this same model. I think these should be called 3.5-2. First pair I got of LP’s 3.5 was way narrower than this fresh pair!

Love these. Best ever! I typically wear a size 6.5, but after running in Altra’s which allows my feet to spread about and support me like they’re supposed to, my feet now feel closer to a 7 which is the size I now have. Zappos customer service is fantastic too!

I work as a nurse and would absolutely recommend these for long days on your feet. I just ordered my 2nd pair and did go up a size because I also wore to run a half marathon. My feet slid forward slightly during running and one of my toes hit the end. I have a bunion and these shoes are wide enough in the regular width to not put pressure on it. I have owned numerous brands of running and work shoes and these rank right at the top for comfort.

I'm still testing these out. Took a 14 mile single track out-and-back two days ago running Wisconsin's Ice Age National Scenic Trail (IAT). I bought the shoes specifically to run remote northern segments of the IAT with a young woman running right now trying to set the Fastest Known Time (FKT) running the full 1,200 miles of the IAT. So far so good in the comfort and fitting zone. My only disappointment is that as I sit here trying to buy a spare pair, I see my size is not available. I run with this record setting attempt this Saturday, and wanted a spare pair of the Lone Peak 4.0. Disappointed to say the least. I have three (3) 50K Ultra races within 22 days after running segments of this record setting attempt, and was really hoping to have a second pair.

This shoe is perfect for me. Exactly what I had been looking for. I wanted a zero-drop shoe with some cushioning. I have been transitioning to mid-foot striking and had experimented with zero-drop shoes with virtually no cushioning at all. That approach did not work for me - various issues/injuries resulted. This shoe is the perfect balance. Will be buying more.

If you are a size 14 than order a 13. The 13 fit great.
