I have owned this shoe but in the purple. I ordered this color to change it up, but the grey is super shiny. I didn't love the color to start, but the shininess of the grey across the toe was too much for me. They're going back for looks alone.

This is the best running shoe I've ever ran in. I'm a pretty big guy that needs a little bit of support, but I don't like max cushioned shoes. The midsole on the Escalantes is soft and bouncy, while the shoe itself is extremely light and comfortable. I felt like I was lighter and faster and thoroughly enjoy running up to 13 miles in these shoes. I don't know if they could handle a full marathon, but they were great for my recent half marathon in San Diego.

Love these - took me a long time to get to these and was very fortunate that Zappos was patient enough with me. I am going to be hiking in southern Spain and needed lightweight, comfort, stability, cushion and a little funk and believe I have found it. With both hip and knees issues I couldn't afford to compromise on this trip. Thank you for putting up with me.

Fit great. Hiked 7 miles up a 13000' peak right out of the box.

Definitely a departure from the wide toe box by Altra. Sad because I wanted this as an everyday shoe. I’ve worn Altra’s exclusively for 6-7 years now.

As a loyal altra customer, I was not disappointed by this latest release. My last two pairs of trail shoes were the lone peak 2.5s (I bought a second pair shortly after the first because I liked them so much). The biggest upgrade from the lone peak is the increased cushioning- my runs felt like they had more flow, and I was less aware of every little rock and root under my feet. As for sizing, I wear a 12 in most brands but have consistently worn 12.5 in altras. I ordered a 12.5 of timps and when I first put these on, they felt quite loose. The asymmetrical lacing may have something to do with this. I started my first run fully expecting them to be sloppy, loose, and destined for a return. I was pleasantly surprised- half a mile in and I forgot I was wearing them. Two months later, my timps are still going strong. No signs of abnormal wear or damage. I have had issues with the durability of altra road shoes, but in my experience their trail shoes have been significantly more durable and longer lasting. Overall I am very pleased with this shoe and would highly recommend it.

I bought these Lone Peak 3 Mid Neoshells for a trip to Iceland. They turned out to be more comfortable than the other Altra shoes I recently bought. I have osteoarthritis so I need the extra room in the toe box and have only just discovered Altra. We were wet a lot from rain, wind, and the spray from countless waterfalls. It was hard to avoid getting parts of me wet, but in these Lone Peaks at least my feet were dry and comfy. I didn't do a lot of hiking, but I spent long days in these high-tops with no complaints. My feet didn't give me any grief at the end of the day, and that's saying a lot. I usually wear a size 6 or 6.5 but after my prior experience with Altra sizing I tried size 7 and that fit great. They were roomy enough for nice thick warm socks. I even wore 2 pair of thin socks with no trouble.

Deceiving looks. Nice shoe, but not comfy at all. The front part is not an issue. It's wide and generous. The back of the shoe is horrible. Too hard and keeps rubbing against the upper part of the heel. This is especially bad when driving due to the angle of the foot and ankle. I kept them, instead of returning them, hoping that a bit of break-in period would do the trick. Big mistake. Now, I can't return them any more since it would be impossible to clean them well enough, inside and out, to look like new. They'll end up in a closet or trash. Also, note that they are much smaller than stated size. I had to exchange them for 12.5 in order to fit. Compared to several of my old 11.5, the 12.5 is the same size. So this 11.5 is nowhere near real 11.5. The sizing is totally off. I'd say this "11.5" is probably somewhere between 10.5 and 11. Every foot is different, so I'm not surprised that some customers had very favorable impression. Not for me. 100 bucks down the drain.

I needed shoes with no bumps on the bottom for weight class I am taking. Normally I wear Lone Peaks 2.5 in a mens 8.5. These are perfect- but I had to order a full size larger to get them to fix correctly. I have very flat feet and these are awesome! Thanks so much Zappos for your continuing patience!!

This was the second pair of this shoe I've returned as defective. Both pair, size 14, developed a bunching of foam and fabric in the right heel cup that became uncomfortable with chaffing and blisters. I wore this pair for about a month before it occurred, the other pair took about a week. After a month of walking and light hiking this pair also showed signs of wear and tear in the fabric upper that makes me question the shoe's long term durability. Will not be trying these shoes again.

These shoes give blisters to my daughter all the time even after 6 months of use, they still hurt her feet. I love Altra and she has other Altra but these spikes are not good yet.

I love Altera shoes- but the 'guard rail' in these hurts the inside of my arch on both feet. Incredibly painful! My feet are very flat. Otherwise these are great shoes. Returning them for a different style. Thanks Zappos!

They fit great but the soles were incredibly squeaky! Got a different pair of Altras that I kept that were quiet..... Also with Altras, my foot is an 8.5 narrow and I wear a 9.5 in Altras

Fell behind its predecessor 3.0 Too short in length. Not as comfortable as the 3.0 version.

Got a size bigger than I had expected. Zappos refunded me no problem. Great looking shoes. I tried to make the later size work but it didn't. Seemed to bother my feet w the zero drop. Will be donating shoes. Thanks for the seamless refund Zappos.

The shape of the heel pushes the foot forward, making my toe hit the end of the shoe. I wore a 10 in the Altra Torin 2.5, but this shoe was too small in the same size. I believe that it would have fit if the heel did not slant forward. I will have to return the shoes.

This shoe has terrible craftsmanship. Less than 2 months old and it's falling apart after light wear. I'll never buy again.

I'm a walker and need a good stability shoe because of over pronation. I've worn them all from Nike, Adidas, Merrill, etc. Then I found Altra. Walking about 30 to 40 miles a week it took a little over a year when I realized I'd worn them down. Just ordered my second pair of the Provision 3. Such a great shoe! Comfort, cool, great fit. Why don't all shoes have a "toe box"? Turn to Altra, you won't be disappointed.

Cute and adorable well cushioned, but unfortunately short. My other Altras are 9.5 and sure perfect. Theses see 9.5 and my big toe hits the front of fhe tie box, while the rest of the sneezers us a bit too roomy. Unfortunately they are going back. Unfortunately they are going back
