Scarpa Reviews
These shoes were terrible. Tried to just wear them around the house to break them in and my feet felt like the circulation was being cut. Now even after having them off for 15 minutes my feet still hurt. Probably a great show for narrow feet. I guess I am just use to the wider cut shoes.
I absolutely love these shoes! They are comfortable out of the box, sturdy, durable, eye-catching. I did have to exchange my original order for half a size smaller. The parrot color is not quite as red as I expected, but it is still a great color. They are great as urban shoes and awesome on trails that do not necessitate full on hiking boots.
I love these shoes! I bought them for hiking and scrambling. I thought they would be too stiff when I first put them on, but as I walked around I felt comfortable and supported. I went on a short hike a week ago and did some light climbing. The shoes performed well and I was confident in them. I am going on a two day backpacking trip soon and I am confident that these shoes will be great!
I've been wearing these shoes for a couple weeks now and I love them. I bought a pair of high-end Scarpa hiking boots because I liked these shoes so much and those are fantastic as well. These are nice enough looking for me to wear to work (business casual workplace) but are equally great for walking the dog or regular day to day use.
I bought these boots for the upcoming wildland fire season, after recommendations from my boss. I ordered a full size larger than I normally wear (I ordered 10.5 and I usually wear 9.5) as was advised by other reviewers. That ended up being the perfect decision. I was very pleased with the fast shipping and with the boots themselves. They are far tougher boots than I thought they would be. the leather is very thick and the boots are very stiff and supportive. I wore them off and on for about 2 weeks and they broke in nicely and have become quite comfortable, but haven't lost the support. My fire season is just beginning, so I haven't field tested them, other than a few hikes. Thus far I am extremely pleased.
Love these shoes! I bought them to support the aching joints in my feet...the long laces give me a great fit, better than normal running shoes. The red-orange color (looks like paprika) is very stylish...great with blue jeans. They felt comfortable right out of the box. Next time I'm in the market for shoes I'll definitely consider another pair of Scarpas.
Very supportive boot. Feels narrow to start, but stretches to become more comfortable while breaking in. Very light and stiff for such a large boot. Overall I am very satisfied.
I absolutely love these boots. So much that my girlfriend is sick of hearing me express my feelings about how amazing they are. It did take about a month to break them in, probably hiked about 30 miles before they really started to feel like slippers. There's been a few times my footing has shifted on rocks and these boots saved my ankle. They're not too heavy and they are holding up great. I've put about 150 miles on them so far and have no complaints! They are true to size, but if you're going to wear heavy padded socks and liners maybe go a 1/2 size bigger. They're probably not built for people with wide feet, but I am in love with how these boots hug my feet without the hot spots. I'm blown away by the quality of these boots. Terrific job on these Scarpa!
Great shoes for hiking, stylish with non-traditional colors. Little longer than standard US size 10, which was good for me. Also, narrower which was good too as I usually have to order narrow shoes. Did give blisters after full day hikes, but probably due to combo of orthotics and narrow heels. Great buy!
Trekking Machu Picchu the end of May and decided, at last minute, that I needed new hiking boots. Not much time for breaking in so I was nervous about fit. Took these out of the box and did a quick 6 miles on varied terrain - these boots are fabulous! Not a rub anywhere and they feel like I've worn them for a year. They have great ankle support and are light enough that I didn't feel like I was lugging my boots up the hills. I have a narrow heel but wide forefoot and these fit perfectly by sizing up a half size. Highly recommend these boots.
Just rec'd my new Sparks. Tried 'em on and they fit pretty true to size, maybe a tad big (room at the toes, take a 9 and order 42.5). Have not run in 'em yet, but walked the trails close to home and they are comfy and fell really light. Should be a good alternative day shoe to my North Face Single Tracks. Glad to see Scarpa in the trail running game.
These are without a doubt the most comfortable, well built hiking boots that I've ever put on my feet. I wear a size 12 so that's what I ordered. At first I thought they would work fine but after walking up and down the steps in my house a few times it was clear that they were a touch too small. This is where Zappos is great. I ordered a pair in 12 1/2 and they showed up the next day. The fit was absolutely perfect and returning the 12's was a breeze thanks to Zappos' great system.
I've been looking for years for a low-volume shoe/boot that fits my slightly narrow, flat feet. Someone suggested Scarpa as it features more of a European fit. I fell in love with these the moment I tried them on. Unlike others I have worn, I can feel every part of my foot in contact with the shoe. While the shoe fits my foot like the proverbial glove, I can see how the toe box would be too narrow for others. If the rest of the line fits like this, I will be selling my Asolos.
Scarpa has always made great footwear. I have bought their shoes and tele-boots for over 20 years. The new Crux shoe is a real loser. The last fits fine, but the comfort level is very poor. This is not a shoe to wear for a trail hike, nor an approach. They are very uncomfortable and "unfortunately" various "outdoor" magazines give it high ratings. Hmm...this is very misleading and these shoes should be recalled - you would have a better time walking barefoot, compared to wearing these. Imagine cardboard boxes on your feet, with sticky rubber as a sole. No Stars deserved for this product. Beware!
These are very good quality hiking shoes. For me, they were a little bit tight at first, but then they stretched and fit well now. I love these shoes.
My double socked foot for hiking: 280mm long, 111mm wide, Euro size 44. Boot: US 10.5, Euro 44. Length okay, just a little too narrow across my forefoot. Probably okay with one thin sock. One size chart said my foot was an E width, boot is a D. Probably a nice roomy boot for a D width foot. Toe box felt cramped; like suddenly narrowed right after wide part for fore foot. Foot bed very hard, like tile, under big toes & balls of feet. Shape of foot bed felt good. Nice metal rollers for lacing system over top of foot makes it easy to snug without overdoing it.
This is my second pair of shoes with the boa lacing system. Due to a stroke, the lacing system fit my need to have shoes for different needs. I use this one for fitness. It meet my needs, contemporary style, easy to take out or in.
I came across this boot while looking for a new boot for search and rescue work. We are often carrying a 35-40 lb pack of personal gear plus any system gear we might need. The Kinesis Pro looked like a good compromise between a light weight hiker and a heavier mountaineering boot. These boots are extremely comfortable right out of the box. I've done one training day in them consisting of rappelling, raising and lowering, and some minor class 3/4 climbing and a quick 6 mile / 1200 ft hike. No hot spots or blisters so I'm pretty pleased. As far as fit, I wear a 41.5-42 in well fitting dress shoe and went with a 43.5 boot with mountaineering socks (a 43 probably would have been okay).
I got these shoes last week and have been out on the trail since. I have been looking for a shoe that will be good for backpacking on the Northville Lake Placid Trail. It needs to be light but offer protection from rocks, dry quickly, and provide decent traction in mud. I have been running in VFFs for the last few years so low drop was important and all the big trail tanks (mountain masochist) felt huge and overbuilt. I wear a 45.5 in VFF and the Spark fits well in the same size. Traction and feel is great on firm trails as well as slippery conditions. Deep mud (ankle deep) reduces traction considerably but the shoe sheds the mud fast. It also dries quickly. I've worn two different socks and that seems to be more important in determining how quick my feet dry since the shoe was dry. The rock plate is great. I wore them yesterday with a 25lb pack and rocks and roots weren't a problem. I really love this shoe and feel it will withstand any trail I hike or run.
