This boot is awesome! But, because of the insulation you may want to go up one size.

They are not undersized! Do not believe the those idiot reviewers who say you need to buy bigger than usual size. They don't know how to measure a fit. I usually wear 9-10 so I ordered size 11 because of those reviewers. Too big! So I had to return them and then I ordered 10. I thought that ought to do it. NOT! Still too big. So I had to return those as well and I finally ordered what my actual size, 9. Perfect fit! These boots have thick padding but it's not like it's solid! (If you're planning to wear multiple layers of socks then what's the point of buying these boots?!) You need to break it in. And to measure the fit correctly, you need to push your heel all the way back so it touches the back of the boot and then feel where your big toe is.
Anyway, the boots feel great. Very sturdy and comfortable. Durability is the only thing I have to wait and see. There is a lot of glueing of the soles, which makes me think it's going to start peeling off after a while.

I purchased these boots for myself, as I don't like the colors in the woman's Chilkat's. They are warm, and I live in them from fall to spring. They run really small. I wear a woman's 8.5 and ordered a men's 7.5 (thinking I would have extra room for thick socks) but they were too small. I returned them and purchased a men's size 8.5 and they fit well with thick socks.

Go to an actual store and try these on. I usually wear a 12 in everything and when I slipped on a size 12 at the store it felt like my foot was in a vice. A size 13 was getting better but a 14 felt right. I know these have a ton of insulation so really one full size up would probably be perfect once broken in.

I haven't worn them out yet. But they are so very comfortable. I went up 1 whole size from 9.5 to 10.5, based on the reviews I read and they were still to tight. Had to go up to an 11.5 But The customer service at Zappos is 2nd to none, the next day'd the replacement. Can't wait to wear them in the cold.

I ordered these boots October 2014 for deer season in northern Wisconsin. We got 2 feet of snow 3 days before opening day. Hunted hard 6 out of 9 days. Feet were warm & dry sunup to sunset every day. Get 'em.

Based on the reviews of the other shoppers I purchased a size 9.5 shoe for my son who regularly wears a 8.5. Although the boot is a little roomy it's still a comfortable fit for him. I think a half size up would have suited him better but overall it's still a good boot. Insulated very well and very durable for kids that like to walk in all of the snow, slush and water.

These boots are well made and very durable well they are The North Face and they better be for this price. I will probably get a good 10 years out of them. They are going to take some time to break in, though. The day they came to my doorstep I tried them on and they felt snug, I guess that is just the padding inside that keep your feet really warm. I ordered the biggest size available which was 14. I think it is just the padding inside that makes them feel snug they just take time to break in that is all. Order about two sizes bigger than what you usually wear. These winter warriors will help me battle the usual polar vortexes of Chicago. I would definitely recommend these to a friend! Thanks, North Face and Zappos!

Just imagine, I ordered on the mobile app on a holiday (Columbus Day) at about 4pm saying to myself I will give it a few days for processing and arrival. To my amazement the very next day I had my boots delivered. Wow!

I bought these boots for my boyfriend. He usually wears shoes in sizes 7.5-8. I ordered a whole size up (9) based on the reviews. At first my boyfriend felt that they were too big but after ordering another boot in a size 8.5, he realized that the 9 was better. So my advice would be to go a whole size up. Zappos was great at sending the additional boot for comparison so if sizing is one of your worries, rest assured that you can have the next size within two days.

Bought these in a size 11.5 for my husband who normally wears size 9.5 to 10 in mens shoes. They were snug and needed to be returned.

I bought these for the winter in North Dakota and Steamboat Springs, CO. I love these boots, they were well thought out when they were made. I have used them for around town, snowshoeing, and for apres ski. This is my second pair of Chilkats. What I especially like about them is they are easy to slip on and off.

The boots are a little hard and uncomfortable in the sole of the inside. I usually wear a 9 1/2 to 10 size and ended up needing an 11 in these boots. They do feel warm and hopefully are durable.

These boots are very comfortable and not bulky. They do run small, however. I wear an 11 shoe size and purchased 13's. Overall, great designed product and the red laces are a great style point. Perfect for Minnesota winters.

These feature good construction. They need an insert if you require good arch support. They runs a little small, order large and adjust with thicker socks if needed. They seems very warm, but with all that rubber, the breatheability is questionable.

I had to go up 2 sizes for myself and my husband. These boots are definitely warm and very great quality. However, they are very bulky from having to go up 2 sizes. We went with the Sorel boots instead for the warmth and quality.
I'd also recommend:
Sorel

My son is a size 13, and both the 13 and 14 were too small. Heed the reviews...this boot runs more than 2 sizes too small!
I'd also recommend:
Sorel or LL Bean!

I purchased a very similar pair of The North Face boots 8 years ago and they were spectacular--warm, durable, and useful for everyday wear, as well as hardcore snowshoeing. And I was wearing a 10.5, so naturally I purchased a pair of 10.5 this time. Unfortunately, with the 10.5 my toes were crammed into the tip of the shoe touching the toe through the constricting padding. So I went up to an 11 and still was uncomfortable. I finally tried an 11.5 (I've never worn an 11.5 shoe). The fit of the shoe was perfect at 11.5, but then around the ankle was too loose, and the shoes could not be tightened enough to give me any ankle support--which was awkward enough just to walk in, but a recipe for disaster if I also tried snowshoeing. Sent them back and purchased Keens instead.
I'd also recommend:
Keens

I purchased The North Face (mens) Chilkat II specifically for winter snowshoeing. Based on the North Face's brand name and reputation I had hoped these boots would be the ticket. They weren't. The boots were narrow for being D. It seems all shoes and boots I've ordered lately that were made in China some this way. Hard to find a product labeled Made in the USA or Canada. Zappos return policy is super. If the company is looking for a customer suggestion, mine would be prominently label where a product is manufactured.
I'd also recommend:
Keen brand. They don't run narrow

The lining in this shoe is so thick that I could barely get my foot in the shoe even with a very thin sock.

Grossly under-sized! I wear a 10.5 and ordered a 12 based on other reviews. I can hardly even get my foot into the 12. Not sure I want to order a 12.5 b/c the exterior of the boot is already really huge. Wanted to love them, but back they go.

There is so much insulation that it's impossible to get this boot on in my normal size. Have owned North Face before and these are ridiculously tight because of the padding.
