This looks great with anything, really. It has a nice stylish flair that separates if from the other Doc Martens out there and that's why I got them. However, the comfort is something else: the part where the leather tongue starts is very painful that it's difficult to walk in them and I can't stop thinking about how it's squeezing my feet. I'm hoping it will loosen up the more I use it because it is definitely true to size and I love them already! I'm thinking of maybe purchasing one of those wooden shoe stretchers that I saw at Clarks stores to hasten the break-in process but other than that part, I recommend these beautiful pair! Good luck & happy shoe shopping!

I absolutely love these boots and wear them nearly every day. I have pretty large calves - about 17 inches - and these fit. Usually when people say boots fit their large calves, they don't fit mine. The straps widen to allow more room and don't look goofy. I hope these last as long as my other Docs did!

LOVE these boots! Unlike a lot of the Dr. Martens boots being made now, these boots are so soft and comfortable!

I got these for my teen for Christmas. She loves them and they look really cute on. She is very petite and has sticks for legs. We took them to the shoe shop to add extra holes in the buckles. Maybe some day she'll grow into them.

Brilliant boots! Not the classic full grain leather, soft and pliable out of the box, with wear they will become slouchy and more casual looking. Wore them three days straight after getting them for Christmas and have no complaints.

Just an "almost" for me. Didn't fit my big calves! These were still about a half size big in the foot, even with sizing down a half size, but they wouldn't close up over my short stubby legs with big calves. I'm typically a 7-1/2 with 18" calves (ordered the UK5). I really thought these might fit, and while I could zip them up and buckle them, there was still a 1/2 "gap" at the tongue (which is not attached on the left side) at the top two buckles. It's too bad, because they did look pretty cool had I been able to buckle/zip them correctly.

I love these boots. My concern was that they were going to be heavy and stiff. They are so soft not heavy and there was no break in time at all. On the sizing perhaps a half a size larger than what I needed in a little bit wider but then again I have very narrow feet the greatest teacher is essentially the three strips of leather that will go up your leg and then there are these adjustable bands that go around your leg so that you can get a good fit whether your calf is slender or athletic. I am always worried that I am going for fashion without comfort since I was in a car accident that has really affected my feet but I can honestly say I can wear these all day long. Lots of compliments; you can get a biker look goth look or just look coo in these boots.

I have a very high instep, a high arch, and higher than average width. US Size 8 (9.25" long). Ankle 9". Calf 14". Heel to bend of knee 16". These boots are super comfy. They felt like slippers with stiff soles. It makes them pleasant feeling, but also not very durable. They are fashion boots, very thin, not structural or functional. This is hard to tell from the picture which indicates that they can stand on their own. They absolutely can't. Try standing your pants up on their own - same results. I was looking for an everyday, multi-functional boot that fit really well and to meet all my needs as I travel abroad. I was surprised at how well they fit my feet, but still didn't fit the bill. 1) Another user mentioned they are a gray color. Since I only saw one review point this out, I thought it was a nice dark charcoal gray, which would have been cool, like the picture. It is NOT dark gray. It is light gray, almost pale blue/green. I would call these boots 30 other colors before I called them black, so I feel mislead; they look black in the photos. 2) They are too big. I have well-defined calves, so I thought all the reviews that said these boots were actually big enough would be a good thing. That was a mistake. Take the 17.5" circumference calf into account. Unless you're very large, these won't work since the material is so supple. They kind of fall down and just don't look right. If they were stiff, I think they would look okay, but, especially in gray, they just look bleh, not nearly as sexy as the picture. 3) I thought I would be able to compensate for the larger calf by using the buckles (I wanted them to make a custom fit, after all). But unless your calf is actually 17.5" (16-19") I would say just skip them. Some people mentioned creating new holes, which I thought I would do, but upon inspection of the boot I realized this wouldn't look right. The tongue is very large and an important part of the boot (very cool), but it is sewn to the outer side of the main shaft. This point is fixed. If you were to try bringing it in for a 14" calf, the shaft would fold over on itself (it looked really bad when I mocked it up). So I considered cutting it down, but the shaft extends onto the instep and there is no good way to taper it down, or trim it down asymetrically (it would be really obvious) or symetrically (it is sewn down on one side). So even if I wanted to have the buckles shortened, recreating the sweet decorative tips, the shaft would look bad tightened. Other details about the boot that were much less important than the above, but I'll mention for your benefit in case you want gray boots and have a larger calf: A) The pull tab for taking them off is totally unnecessary since there are zippers AND buckles AND the material is soft, and doesn't tuck in. These are the easiest on/off boots I've ever tried. B) The purple plaid material on the inside calf area kind of shows on the top and side edges (use a sharpie to black out the white part of the pattern on the edges so it doesn't stand out so much). 3) These will scuff up super fast, and won't take polish (especially because of color), so prepare for a weathered look, fast. 4) Buckles mean you jingle when you walk :) 5) The buckle design is awesome looking, Doc Marten style. 6) Insole is pretty firm/flat, not cushiony compared to how soft the boot leather is. 7) Shaft didn't go to my knee like I expected - maybe they measure outside height instead of inside? Deal breaker: So many people said that they looked great in these boots, and the boots themselves looked like exactly what I wanted, but because of the too-large calf that wasn't adjustable after all, they just looked like fancy rain boots (wide opening at the top) and weren't at all what I needed, even though the feet felt great. Boots should be made with different shaft sizes, just like shoes have different sizes! Now just I hope to find a good custom boot maker in my travels before I wear out my paratrooper boots, or maybe Dr. Martens 1B60 W will work out.

Love the look of these boots! I'm normally a size 10, so I selected the size 8 men. Way too big in the foot, perfect in the calves! Super disappointed, but since Zappos offers free shipping and returns (thanks Z!) I've just ordered the size 7. I will let you know how they fit!

They are comfy and stylish. Every time I wear them, I'm given the side eye by other women who then tell me how much they like my boots. I'm very happy with them. This is my second pair of Dr. Martens. I purchased my first pair in my early twenties but my mom threw them away! I am fifty now and so this is kind of cathartic and a proper homage to my love for British punk.

What's going on with the sizing? I bought my normal shoe size and these were too small in several places. My toes were smashed together because the boots are too narrow and it feels like there isn't any arch support. The color is definitely gray and not black. I was just disappointed in every way by these boots. I returned these and bought Demonia boots.

I love Dr Martens shoes. They fit well and last forever it seems. These boots are a great look and are adjustable for larger calves. There are others that I have hard time fitting and I really don't think my calves are huge, not a large person just most boots just enough too tight to be comfortable. They just at times be a pain with the tongue being loose in there so they can be adjustable I have them on last hole on buckle and still loose in ankle area but worth the money and fit and feel great.

I was so happy when I got the boots but got extremely sad and disappointed when I saw them. :'( They are not Black. They are more like a grayish color (I hate gray), kinda like a faded black. They are cute and fitted me very nicely but I wanted BLACK boots, I don't like how gray looks on me. I would have kept them if they were truly black but since they are not I will be sending them back, sorry Dr. Martens. :(

I have ordered and returned about 10 pair of boots trying to find that perfect one. Guess what? I found it. Edgy, sexy, and cool to the max. Comfy right out of the box. I did have to put a full foot insert in them for comfort and to take up the extra room (narrow feet), but I did not care. Nikita has nothing on me in these boots. Yeah!!!

These boots are so funky! I absolutely love these! They look amazing with jeans and an over sized coat and hobo bag, perfection! I normally wear and 8.5, but in Dr. Martens, I always need to size down. So I had to get an 8 in these or 6 (UK). It's nice because the buckles are adjustable so depending on the size of your lower leg, you can just them for the entire length of your leg!

Absolutely no ankle support. Absolutely no arch support. Runs TRUE TO SIZE, not small as other reviewers claim. Found the quality if the leather to be inferior for the price. A big disappointment for Docs.

I am very disappointed that I have to return these boots. I bought them in a US8 & US9. The 8 was too short, but fit everywhere else. The 9 was way too big in the foot area. It was obvious when looking at them that they are too big. I really like the boot and was looking forward to wearing them. I feel that if they were available in 1/2 sizes, they would have worked. Even thick socks did not help.

I just got these & wore them today for the first time. I totally adore them. I wear a women's size 10 in all my shoes. I purchased the UK8/US10 & it fit perfectly. If I had gone down a size (as others suggest) I would not even be able to get this on. It's snug with socks (and they are not even thick socks.) My calf is about 18.5" so I was worried these may not work, but was hopeful as I read elsewhere that they'd fit up to about a 19" calf. They absolutely DO FIT! The leather is so soft & pliable, that they have just enough stretch to fit comfortably. I am also on the 2nd to last hole on the buckle, so I could loosen them up a bit more if I needed to. Perhaps over jeans they may need a bit more space, but I was able to fit my entire hand down between the shaft & my leg, so I know this leather has a lot of give to it. And since it's such lovely leather, i think they will loosen up a bit more with regular wear. One thought I had, if they didn't quite fit, was looking into leather buckle/strap extenders (they sell these for men's kilts, for example), to give just a tad bit more room (like 1/2" maybe.) Not sure how that would look, but i would have considered it since I LOVE the way these books look!! When i was first putting these on, I unzipped it & undid all the buckles & then tried to fasten them around my calf. This did not work so well & I thought for sure the boots would not even buckle around my calf - it just seemed like the straps were not long enough. The second boot i left buckled & just used the zipper - they zipped right up fine. So, if you are having some issues getting the buckles to fasten, I'd suggest fastening them in the last hole or 2nd to last hole before you even put them on. The leather stretches enough to let you zip them right up. They do pucker a bit around the ankle, sort of like the leather is slouching down. But i think that's kind of how they are supposed to be. These aren't really for that smooth, sleek look. They just have a more rugged, kick-some-teeth-in look :) All in all, for the price I am pleased. They are way more comfortable & roomy than most other boots of similar cost. And they don't look or feel like cheap crappy leather, like most of the other $200 boots I've tried do. They rub a bit on the heel, and feel a little tight across the top of the foot, but this will all break-in in time & they will probably be one of my favorite pairs of boots.

They are awesome. I am a runner so I have pretty wide calves and the buckles are adjustable so that they can go over jeans easily, or be cinched to stay up with just leggings or stockings. I used band-aids to prevent blisters for the first day, but I don't think I actually needed them. They have a roomy toe box and good arch support (I have pretty flat feet). And they're fun!

Love this great looking and comfortable boot! Never had a pair of Doc Martens before. I wear orthotics and these are able to accommodate them, which is a huge plus! I just removed the insert that came with and put in my own. Looks great with skirts or jeans. Arch support is between none and slight.
