I've owned a pair of waterprood Merrell Moabs Mids for the past three years. These are a very comfortable, lightweight pair of hiking boots that do not require any break in. While the waterproof membrane will keep your feet from getting wet, be aware that the mesh material of the boot will soak up water. This boot is not meant to be a winter boot and it will wear out quickly if you hike regularly on rough trails or off trail conditions. If you are looking for a lightweight hiking boot, these are a good pair to add to your hiking gear. If you need a boot that provides more foot and ankle protection, this is not the boot for you. Merrells run small so buy a half size larger than your regular size.

Nice boot for light to moderate hiking. They felt good from the start. No break in required. Hiked in Costa Rica with them and they performed well. Didn't get them wet, so I can't speak to their waterproof-ness.

I love these shoes but I have to tell you I am a perfect size 9 and had to return my initial order for a half size up. With that being said -- great tread, comfortable and lightweight for the kind of boot you are getting. I must also say that Zappos is the best place to order from! When I called to figure out how to return they were very nice and accommodating. They even sent me my new pair free shipping and I received them the very next day! So impressed! Love you Zappos and Merrell!

Amazing! Didn't need to be broke in. The most comfortable shoe I think I've ever owned. I have the blue ones. Normally a 6.5, bought a 7. Amazing fit!

Incredible boots. I live in Colorado and hike often. However, I hate boots that are tight and constricting. These are not them. They are light, flexible and I climbed a 14-er straight out of the box.

I bought these two serve two purposes: the first to protect my feet and ankles when riding my motorcycle; the second to have a good pair of shoes for walking to and from classes. They fit both requirements to a T. When I first received them and put them on, I swore these are among the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. For riding, I do not worry about hurting my ankles at all, and they are grippy enough to hang on to the pavement when stopping and idling. For walking, they are fantastic. They actually make me want to get outdoors and be more active than I tend to. I am looking at a men's pair for my spouse as well.

I'm always happy with Merrells and these did not disappoint. Based on the other reviews (suggesting they ran small), I ordered both a 7.5 and 8. I'm a pretty solid 7.5 and they fit perfectly. I wore them with thicker socks and was happy with the fit. Comfort was great! I didn't break them in and wore them hiking for 3 hours with no issues. I wore them again just to walk around and they were very comfortable. I haven't tested them out in extreme cold/wet conditions yet but I was pleased how they performed in moderate conditions.

Fabulous hiker and incredibly comfortable and good looking boot. I wear 8.5/9 and it's tough to get a great fit; some are a little too small and 9's can be too big. Got this in a 9 and it fit good, but could be a little bigger. Zappos didn't have this in a 9.5 so I am debating if I should keep it or return it. Love it so much, it's a tough call.

Absolutely fabulous boot! I needed a comfortable, waterproof boot for hiking and walking in Acadia National Park. It was pouring rain the whole time and my feet stayed dry with these. The trip had a mix of hard surface carriage roads along with muddy, rocky, and slippery mountain trails. This boot had the right mix of springy sneaker-like comfort, just enough ankle support (low enough to avoid chafing), and grip to handle a lot of miles on any surface. I have flat feet and am heavy on shoes and these were perfect. They are also attractive enough that I can wear them for long walks in the city back home. Highly recommended!

This is the best hiking boot. I had only a couple of days to "break-in" this boot before I went on an 11 day walking/hiking tour in France. They were so comfortable and provided great ankle support. My feet felt great the whole time I was on tour. I have 3 other pair of Merrells that I love. I highly recommend these! Thanks Zappos!!

I ordered this boot in a full size larger hoping to solve this problem but it didn't. Lacing does not effectively keep heel back in shoe. When in a down-hill position my foot slides forward and my toe hits the front of the shoe.

Have always liked Merrells, but these are definitely a cut above in style and fit. I normally wear a size 10 in Merrells and these were true to size; fit perfectly. Look great! Wish they had just a little more arch support, but I can definitely live with them! Also love the name (Moab) as I am originally from western Colorado and have spent a lot of time in the Moab, UT area; they personify that area and lifestyle. Love them!

These leak - big time! Took 2 days to dry them out after walking in wet slushy field. Not waterproof!

Great shoes! However I buy Merrell and only Merrell shoes because of my plantar fasciitis. So I own several pairs of Merrells. But these are the only Merrells that I had to buy a half size bigger.

Don't waste your time with these shoes! The inserts were cheap without any support or cushion. They are narrower in the toes and that caused rubbing and blisters on my little toes. I bought high quality inserts and my feet would hurt by the end of the day. I took the inserts and put them in my old Merrell hiking boots and now wear them at work.

I love these boots. They are sturdy yet light. I usually wear a 8-8 1/2 shoe but my podiatrist suggested wearing a 9 so my toes don't bump into the front of my shoes when walking. My orthotic fits in as well. The color is great; they don't show the dirt. I think the price is very fair for a shoe of this caliber/quality.

Love, love, love this hiking boot! This is my first pair of Merrells, and I don't think I'd buy another brand now. These have to be the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever worn. They're roomy in the toe box, well-supported in the ankle and arches, and are incredibly light. I could hike for days in these. These have stood up to the Alaskan wilderness, mud, slippery rocks, climbing up mountains (the reasonable kind), etc. pretty well so far, so I think they'll be great for any kind of hiking.
