Deerskin lining- Gentle Souls´ shoes uses supple and breathable deerskin-lined insoles providing softness and comfort while conforming to the shape of your foot. It is durable and will not stretch or crack when wet. Deerskin is normally found on gloves, jackets or shoe uppers. The deerskin-lined insole is unique to Gentle Souls shoes and sandals!
Flaxseed Memory Pillows- Flaxseed pillows are embedded in the footbed of Gentle Souls shoes to mold to the shape of your foot and provide cushioned support. The flaxseed ¨memory pillows¨ are somewhat similar to beanbags as they redistribute and adjust to the shape of your foot with every step.
Padding- Under the deerskin lining there is a memory foam developed by NASA; Poron®. This foam does not break down and maintains its shape over time.
Granulated Cork- This layer located under the Poron® helps with shock absorption when walking on hard surfaces.
Rubberized Outsole- Sometimes fused with leather, rubberized outsoles are flexible and great for traction on hard surfaces.

These are beautiful well made shoes that have a little zip and pop for a flat. I will buy them in the other color way. As I live in a hot climate, I often wear shoes without nylons or opaque knee highs. However, I will wear these with opaque knee highs. One reviewer stated the top of the shoes rubs a bit against the top side of the big toe. I anticipated this before purchasing; but that can be solved with the stocking. All-in-all very comfortable right out of the box and EXCELLENT quality.
I'd also recommend: Munro American, Merrell, Mephisto

These are truly handsome shoes...well-made, stylish, and unusual. They look very sleek and yet they are supportive, and I like the Gentle Souls soft inner cushion. There are all sorts of flattering little touches on these, and they can be dressy up or casual. All that said, I am very disappointed to be returning them. That low cut is cute, but the band cuts into my big toe. (The fault is with my foot; I think they would be comfortable for pretty much anybody but me.) Anyway, I'm going to try something else.

Really cute and comfortable on my size11 foot. In order to fit my orthotics in it, though, I need a wide, which they don't make, and I can't justify this price for a shoe I can only wear for really short times. (Why don't 'comfort' shoe makers make wide sizes?)

I have been shopping for flats for years; found nothing comfortable. These shoes are so comfortable from the get-go. I love them! I think they might be slightly large as normally when I have ordered flats my feet just do not fit. These were perfect. They are highly recommend!
