Unfortunately this shoe is only available in medium width. The fit on my left foot is okay but it is too narrow for my other foot. I will return them.

I'd also recommend: maybe try New Balance

This is a great shoe in many ways. First, I have a wide foot and normally need a 4E, which still restricts my toes because most running shoes have such a pointy toe. The Altra toe shape is very roomy and even though they are marked D width, they are wide enough for me. The cushion level is very good and I would strongly disagree with Altra because they mark these as "moderate cushion." This puts them in the same category as the Instinct 1.5, which I wore before. These have much, much more cushion than the Instinct. The shoe laces are very good; they stay tied very well. I had trouble keeping the laces tied on my old Instincts. The area all around the ankle is plush and comfortable, a nice feature. I've only found one drawback with this shoe and it's very small. The tongue seems a little short. If you're tying the shoes in low light (early morning run), it's possible to get the top laces off the tongue and directly on your ankle. The laces never come off the tongue while running, though, so this is almost not worth mentioning.

Just received these shoes yesterday. When I first put them on, I was slightly worried about the fit not being correct. After reading up on Altra's website about different lacing styles, I got these shoes to fit very comfortably. Basically, I was worried about my heel fit being slightly too loose. Got to try these guys out on the trails this morning and they were just amazing. I was running confidently fast over terrain where in other shoes I would definitely take my time. Pros: - Extremely comfortable - Very breathable - Large toebox - 0 drop - Good fit - width (my width size is about a C). Cons (rather, ever so slight annoyances) - not the most stylish shoe - need to focus on lacing properly (at least for me) - perhaps Altra could have reduced the material in the upper. I feel that the excess material could possibly cause an issue where a B foot width (or less) might not be able to get the shoe tight enough. Bottom line, this shoe is wonderful. It's aggressive, yet super comfortable for long runs. I've previously ran in the Kinvara 4's (size 12.5). Bought the same size in Altra and it's working out great.

I'd also recommend: Saucony Kinvara, Merrell Trail Glove

Trail Trainer or ultra racer. A bit heavy, but nice wide toebox and zero drop. Good traction. Nice protection for rocky trails.

I'd also recommend: INOV-8
