These are NOT the original Dr. Scholl's "exercise" sandal with wood base and firm foot support. The entire sandal flexes, and the bed has no toe grip. The base of the shoe is essentially some form of hardened plastic. Very disappointed, since I wanted the original wood sandal that I have happily worn for many years.
That said, the leather snakeskin strap on this sandal is attractive and seems to be of good quality. But if you are looking for firm support in your sandal, this is not the one for you.

I used to love Dr Scholl's exercise sandals. Bought them for years. Now, the "original" hardwood model doesn't fit like it did; and even these "classic" are apparently made more and more cheaply. The sole on the classic I just received from Zappos is so flimsy and squishy that the shoe feels unwearable to me. I bought a pair of "classic" (manmade sole)perhaps a year and a half ago, and they're great. Yet the ones I just received are complete pieces of junk-- for 50 bucks...? I just don't get it. Herr Doctor, you've made a product well for years. Why cheapen it down to an unwearable mess and alienate loyal customers? What a bummer-- used to love your excersise sandals so much!

Expectations - Reality = Disappointment
I had these in every color years ago and wanted a new pair for summer this year. The heel is NOT real wood anymore. For those unfamiliar, these were once constructed with real wood from actual trees back in the olden times when I was in middle school in 2004.
I understand some people may not find wood comfortable, but wasn't the point that they were supposed to be for "exercise" or something? People can wear crocs if they want to walk in comfort on plastic foam. And by the way, I never found the wooden ones to be uncomfortable at all, nor did anyone else I knew that wore these.
They look (and are) cheap and synthetic. The quality of the "faux" leather strap also seems lesser than it was before. The strap material looks like something Barbie would have a purse made out of (i.e. not for adult women). The fake wood combined with the sorry pleather strap really pulls together the "$10 footwear" look. ??
And, if you care about the oceans and our environment, you can also be saddened by one more thing being made of plastic rather than natural, biodegradable material.
I am returning them. This is sad. Would love to hear the rationale from Dr. Scholl's for destroying this classic and replacing it with this garbage.
All of this this being said, I bought "Dr. Scholl's Womens Frazzle - Original Collection Black Neoprene" and LOVE them. Two for two was too much to ask I suppose, but perhaps there's hope for Dr. Scholl's yet!

These looked nice but when they came they were extremely cheap looking. I think they were plastic and if you had to move the strap they were marred. Terribly uncomfortable too. Going back.

These are beyond awful. The material is so rough I scraped my foot trying to put it on. Very disappointed. The material looks very cheap.
