Wow!! I've been using the Escalante since the beginning of version 2. I was highly disappointed with the changes made to version 3 and thought I'd never find a comparable shoe. But I must say I am once again a fan!! Altra listened and got it right with version 4!!! I cannot tell you how happy my feet are!!! Thank you so much Altra for the BEST running shoe ever (for wide, bunion repaired feet!)

Great running show, responsive, lite and good quality for at least 6 months

Sizing up half a size is the way to go. I originally bought these as gym shoes, but they are so comfortable I wear them all the time now. The all white is stylish.

Got the all white as my clinic shoe & I love it! Would recommend for people who are on their feet all day, I promise, you won't be disappointed!!

I loved the Escalante 2.5, but I cannot buy them anywhere anymore. I could not wear the 3s at all. However, I can tolerate the new 4.0s. I wish the sole/cushion feel were like the 2.5s because this shoe doesn't have that same feel and feels firmer. Plus, the shoe is not as bendable as the 2.5s and feels more stiff. I like to feel the ground, but I also like the support because I cannot wear barefoot shoes with thin soles. However, the new fabric/net choice is a definite improvement because my toes will not poke holes in it so quickly. Please bring back the 2.5s, but with this new fabric around the shoe, my feet will be in heaven! Thanks, Altra!!!!

Kudos to Altra for actually listening to their customers and bringing back (with, dare I say, improvements that are actually improvements? Never has my narrow heel felt so nestled into a heel cup) the Escalante that so many of us fell in love with.

I've been a loyal Escalante runner since the 1.5. I hated the 3 series. I actually switched to the racer for my daily trainer bc the 3 series was too much shoe. THIS ONE IS THE OG!!!! I love it!!

Excellent shoe for long run/walk on asphalt trails. Lone Peak 8 is superb for dirt trails. Escalante 4 is superb for asphalt trails. Large toe box and snug heal holds the foot. Just the right amount of cushion - without being bounce-y. Highly recommended. (I will probably replace the laces - they easily untie themselves.)

I love Altras, but these were not it. They feel narrow compared to my other 3 pairs! Almost like I was walking on a narrow platform if you will.

Wow! I've been running with these sneakers for a few weeks now, and I can't say enough about them! The support is in full force and makes my long runs much easier on this almost 40-year-old mom. :) I also love the look! I highly recommend!

This is my first pair of Altra . I loved these running shoes so much, I even wore them everyday for work. They're great to run and walk in. Thinking about get another one for me and my mom. Highly recommend!

THIS SHOE ( altra ESCALANTE 4 ) IS LIKE THE ORIGINAL ESCALANTE I RAN THE MARINE CORPS MARATHON IN 2017. WHEN THE SHOES CHANGED 1.5, 2 , ETC.... I DISLIKED THE SHOE AND SWITCHED TO THE TORIN. I AM THRILLED TO BE BACK IN THE ESCALANTE. THE TONGUE, WOW WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT. RUN HAPPY MY FELLOW RUNNERS. BTW, THIS IS PROBABLY MY FIRST EVER REVIEW BECAUSE THE SHOE IS THAT GREAT.

I am so happy Altra listened to/ read all of the negative reviews of the last version of the Escalante! These are perfect straight out of the box, a return to my all time favorite running shoe! I have a bunion and Mortons Neuroma and these just work for me! I've been trying to replace them for the past few years - trying Topo, Hoka, Brooks and Asics! Thank you Altra!

Incredibly comfortable, and a great fit! Barefoot shoes don't agree with my feet, so it's really excellent to find zero drop shoes with cushioning in them. They feel amazing, and the toe box is big enough to wear toe spreaders during the day, which helps me rehab some injuries. I'm confident these are going to be excellent cross training/standard gym shoes. Would have been five stars, except the blue color looked like a pale turquoise (kind of blue green) or electric blue online. In person it's actually an (imho) boring and unattractive powder blue/baby blue. If I had seen these shoes in person prior to purchase, I 100% would have picked a different color. It's terrible. Absolutely recommend them for comfort and function. If you have feelings about colors (which I clearly do *lol*), see them in person first or else just go with the boring basic black or gray.

feels better than the 3 but still not what I was expecting.i wish they would go back to the 2.5,those were the best and wish they could make better colors or at least have a customized option

Ran in these for the past week and an half including a 5k race. So far they're great. Light and responsive. Lighter than the 3s. Only issue is the laces were too small for the heel lock tying method. I swapped the laces for longer ones. The original neon yellow laces were ideal, but the white laces look good too.

These Altra Escalante 4 Women's Running shoes are wonderful. They are made with quality and designed with comfort in mind. I'm so grateful for Altra sending me these to try for free through the BzzAgent Sampling Program. All my life I have had to manage and deal with large and wide feet. I have always found it difficult to find shoes that fit. Thanks to this company I finally feel as if this shoe was made for me. The wide toe space makes running long distance extremely comfortable whereas other similar brands leave blisters. These shoes would be great for any long distance runners, or anyone with wide feet. If I could change one thing about the pair I received I would change the color from white to a darker color. I'm a trail runner and these got very dirty, quickly. Other than that I'm in love with these shoes and plan to buy another pair in a darker color.

The toe bed on these shoes is perfect for people with wide feet! These are super roomy so my toes can splay naturally and I don't feel like they are scrunched up at all. For reference, I normally have to buy wide-width shoes, but these were just regular width. They're also super lightweight and have good flex. I also love the zero drop. I did end up with a blister from how high the back of the shoe goes up on the ankle, but taped up after that it was okay. That will likely get better as they get worn in. The shoestrings were a little shorter than I prefer them to be. Overall, I loved these shoes, and plan to replace my older shoes with them.

These shoes were not part of a free sample program. The Escalante 1.5 has been a favorite of mine: I wore out four pairs and, just days before I saw that the 4 was available, began running in my last new, unworn pair of the 1.5. I had kept them in my room in the box and they had not deteriorated whatsoever. Still, I had to order the Escalante 4. THANK YOU, ALTRA, for resurrecting the 1.5. The 4 is a tiny bit longer which makes it true to size (at least for my 9.5 size foot it's perfect). It feels a little softer than the 1.5 underfoot. The colors are beautiful - I got the green (only wish the sole was purple, not tan). Again, thank you so much, Altra, for offering this wonderful shoe again. NOW, please resurrect the TORIN 4!!!

Absolutely love these shoes! Ever since I got them I have been wearing them on 12 hour shifts and my feet haven't hurt since. There is plenty of toe space so your foot doesn't feel cramped and the cushion is beyond belief!

These are so comfortable I would recommend to all the moms!

The shoe does it all and does it well. Effortlessly transitions from running to lifting. Agility work is a breeze and they're still perfect around town.

I was given this product in exchange for my honest review, and honestly, I love them! They are so comfortable to wear while running! I will note that I have had no problems while running, but oddly got a blister when wearing on a zoo day. That is it though!
