Same exact issues as the Olympus 5s. The crease between the upper and the front panel of the shoe digs into the ankle and is painful when stepping. People have been talking about the pinching at the ankle for over a year on the 5s. How have they not fixed this on the 6s!!??

I bought these for duty boots and couldn't be happier. They are super light, very supportive and comfortable. I'm going to order another pair. My only gripe is that they are not a true black, more of a dark grey. I wish Altra made an actual black version.

Great shoes only issue is the shoe is not black, which is the color I needed for work. I'll have to send these back.

I've put about 60 miles and 10000' over a handful of hikes in these boots and they are great. I had an accident 2 years ago and broke both calcaneus's in my feet. So I have sensitive feet and ankles now. These are the only boots I've found that enable me to go longer distances with a weighted pack. The have some Olympus 6 lows that I wear as an everyday shoe. The cushioning is just right for sensitive feet, plenty of cushion, but not too soft for carrying weight.

Comfortable, well-built boot that didn't require much break-in time. I had my first multi-day hike with no blisters. Incredible grip and overall good quality. Can't report yet on how long they'll last! Laces are a bit slippy and like someone else mentioned, tongue is a bit short. But really a 9.5/10 from me.

I have had lots of hiking boots and trail running shoes in the past. I got these to get ready for a 14 day trek in Peru. I can say that out of all the hiking boots that I have had these are the best.

I have 3 hikes in with these in rugged mountainous terrain. They cushion against EVERYTHING. I used to be a huge Salomon fan, but Altra is on another level. This is only the 3rd hike so I can't say how long they will last, but so far, no break in period, extremely comfortable and supportive out of the box. I've noticed they kind of muffled the sound of walking too which is nice with my job. I wish they were not so expensive and I wish the tan version came in all coyote tan from top to bottom. The black is a bit too hot with my work in the hot Arizona sun. And the only other color boot I can wear is coyote tan. Please make an all coyote tan boot Altra!!! I got 2 other male co workers to buy Altra hiking boots the very next day too and they love them and said they were super light weight and comfortable out of the box.

These are my hiking boots for both day hikes and multiple day backpacking. I have used the older versions and they were very comfortable, but this version is not only more comfortable, but they finally made a version that is more robust and so far appears to be holding up lots better than my older versions. Finally they come with shoe strings that are the right size for the boot and your use. I always had to buy replacement shoe strings before. I have Mortons Neuroma in both feet and these boots and my ankle high shoes make me forget I have any foot issues. The Olympus shoe and boot are the most comfortable shoes I can find.

This is my 2nd pair because I love these shoes. They are very comfortable, keep my feet dry in wet conditions, and they are super rugged!

Honestly I read some of the lower star reviews and I almost didn't purchase because of them but I am so glad I did. These check all the boxes for me. Waterproof, super comfy, good grip, and keep my ankles stable. I'm out in the field, hiking in the woods, a lot for my job so I put them to use right away. I can be on my feet hiking for hours and my feet don't even feel tired at the end of the day. Great product.

Tongue is too short. laces do ride up onto ankle. To rectify I skip the first metal hook, go directly to the top one, then go back to first one and tie between first and second metal hook. No slippage.

Put a100 miles on the Olympus 6 Mid GTX training for Everest Base Camp and then put another 100 on them reaching 17500 plus feet above sea level. Still look and feel amazing. They are worth every penny. I advise to size up a half size for the perfect fit. Let Altra help you conquer your next Big Adventure!

Last year my podiatrist recommended Altra zero drop shoes secondary to decades long issues with my feet. Whatever the cause of my foot issues, Altra zero drop shoes have fixed the problem. I no longer experience the pain I was having. I have owned the Torrin, Paradyme, Lone Peak and now the Olympus Mid GTX. I wear wides in the lows and went up a half size for the Olympus 6 Mid GTX as it is not available in wide. As long as I wear a midweight weight wool sock I have have plenty of room for my very wide feet. With a stack of 33mm and the zero drop build, this is the most comfortable shoe or boot I have ever used for hiking. The pain I had experienced when hiking over 2 or 3 miles is completely gone. Thanks Altra for helping me return the trails! jackiethehiker

I hiked the Annapurna circuit in Nepal wearing these, went through snow and water. My feet were always so comfy and dry! The wide toe box is a game changer!

Purchased these 2 weeks ago, short 5mile dry walks only so far. Very impressed with the comfort and fit and looking forward to longer wet days in these soon! Way better than my Timberlands..

I've just returned from climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. We did the 8 day Lemosho route. These boots might have been my favorite piece of equipment. Super comfortable and tremendous grip in all of the trail conditions we faced. Trust these boots! My confidence in them grew throughout the trip. Worth every penny.

I love these shoes. They fully address issues that I experienced with the Timp GTX. We'll structured while being cushy. No break in needed, absolutely no hit spots right out of the box.

I bought the lone peak after toe surgery and loved them, so I thought I would try these and they have been great. Plenty of room for my toes and I have bunions and these fit great. Only negative I have is the color selection. Bleh. I painted mine to give them a little something.

I had tried a different style of Altra low hikers with cushion, and it was not a good experience..basically it did not fit. Tried Topos mid hikers, the cuff was too hard, so, with wary thoughts, I ordered these mid GTX hikers Olympus 6 ..but I proceeded as there was a good return policy..I tried them on when they arrived by mail..my #5 metatarsal head is not aligned like a "normal person", it felt like it was rubbing on outside of that area...and I have a shorter left leg to boot (pardon the pun!)...so I put my lift in and used a metatarsal pad in both boots...and they just keep on feeling better and better! So very satisfied. The toe box is excellent, it is comfortable base to walk on, width feels stable..and the only change that I would make is the tongue may be a little short as the top laces fit awkwardly through the fabric loop at the top of the tongue..otherwise they would slide over the tongue and that would not be comfortable. This is not a deal breaker...the shoe is so comfortable other than this. I really love the width of the toe box and the base feels springy and very comfortable...I like the zero drop..although I initially was not looking for a zero drop, I have learned to love it..my calves give a sigh of relief! So, yes, I was shocked that this shoe ended up being so comfortable! I wear a European size 40, and that worked out well with this pair of boots (8.5 US)..

I am walking the Via Podiensis in France in March. It is about 500 miles. I keep looking daily for size 14 in the Olympus high top. No luck. Used it in Italy last year for same distance Was great.

I bought the Olympus 6 Hike Mid after falling in love with the Lone Peak 8 for light hikes and daily walking. The Olympus is a great lightweight hiker for more rugged terrain. Love the fit. I sized up 1/2 size from the LP 8. Just enough protection and support for my feet and ankles. Grippy Vibram outsoles that hold on to rocks and slabs. Hiking feels great. What's not to love?

Took these backpacking in the White Mountains, NH. They are perfection! Supportive, agile, comfortable, strong waterproofing! I've owned many Altra models for trail running and have taken many backpacking. These are the best!
