I cannot find anything negative about these shoes except for the price. They are so comfortable for my persnickety feet. I have not worn any shoes except for Altra for many years because they are truly made for people who have issues with their feet. WOW!!!! Please keep making this amazing product.

I'm a mail carrier that walks between 10-15 miles daily and these shoes changed my life. These boots allow my toes to splay and are super comfortable even in 100F+ heat. I've tried many shoes and these are pretty much perfect in every way. I also wanted a mid top to protect my ankles from getting banged up.
I tried Hoka and when my feet started to swell from the long distance I walk, I nearly lost a toenail.
This was my first altra shoe and the shape makes so much sense for my situation. I love them so much that I bought a second pair.

Man, I don't know what people are talking about the boot being uncomfortable. I'm on a k9 unit and I wanted a hiking boot for tracking in the woods and I'm buying in to the whole anatomical boot shape thing. It's sooooo much more comfortable on my foot than a salomon or a lowa. I had the keen nxis evo and those are perfect as well but I wear body armor and a pack for the dogs rehab and the cushion on the olympus helps keeping my feet in service. Thank you Altra for making the all black version.
I never had the 4 or the 5 but the health features this has are what I'm looking for and the comfort is there.

Excellent choice for law enforcement duty boot. Feet and legs are no longer tired at the end of shift and feet stay dry no matter the temperature or conditions. Well done Altra.

I have the previous Olympus 4 and I still love them. However this 6 is super fantastic and even better that the 4 but wins over the Olympus 5! I never liked the 5 and had to return because they just felt weird,. The cushion in the back of the heel made the shoe feel smaller and you had to size down for things to work. That was the 5. But these 6 really are the top! I was afraid at first it would be too much height with the cushion and may be wobbly but it is stable and firm. This is really the top version of the Olympus the 6. And this color is out of this world! . The laces are wide and tie perfectly. I did not have to double tie because they stay tied. The other always like most have to double tie tie or else they untie after awhile. The new color of this shoe is gorgeous. It looks stunning and expensive which it is. I have been very picky upgrading and this is perfect. I like the Olympus because of how stable. I have the black in 4 because I can do anything like my yard. But this color is real classy. I don't want to get it dirty. Love it Love it!!!! Oh I am 75 years old with lots of arthritis and problems and this Olympus 6 is very very comfortable and has helped my problems with arthritis>

I walked across the UK with my husband and we both had a pair of these. I didn't get any blisters until near the end when we do a 23 mile day and I didn't wear two pairs of socks like my husband recommended! Then I got one rager! Only one on my right foot toe pad.
I really think these boots performed very well. The 4 stars is because of one irritating thing that occurred almost at the beginning of the trip! A SQUEAKING boot! I eventually was able to ignore it or get used to it, but it tormented me for days!!! It was just my right boot.
I would still recommend them though.
I have 4 pairs of this brand and I am looking fo another pair right now!

I like Altra for their wide toe boxes. I think I have three different pairs of running shoes, but I needed a winter "boot". I tried another very well known brand (that were newly insulated, too) I also used to love and their toe box was just too narrow, even in a size 13 (I'm a 12/12.5). I do wish these were insulated, but I'll take waterproof and call it good due to the wide toe box. Very comfortable. The tongue, however, is not gusseted and it's quite narrow. There's not enough to go under the sides, and I don't have a large ankle or caff. So I guess it's waterproof up to where the neck of the shoe begins.

Very comfortable. Only complaint so far is the back is coming apart only after wearing them for a month.

Hundreds of miles and thousands of feet in elevation and these boots keep me dry and blister-free. Very supportive, relatively lightweight for the amount of boot you get. Only downside is if you completely submerge them in a stream, they squeak for days afterwards- even after they've completely dried. Still a great boot!

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I just bought a pair of Altra Olympus 6 Hike Low GTX boots, hoping for a sleek black color. However, when they arrived, I noticed they have a blackish-green tint instead, despite the label stating they're black. I’ll keep searching for another pair of Altras.

Great shoes in terms of support. My son did his first hike and they are very light and bouncy. The only issue was his book toes. He just went up to a size 8 but these feel a whole 1/2 size smaller. Returning/exchanging for a 8.5. Once the size is right, this will get all 5s.

Been wearing the black pair for patrol in Northern Arizona for about 3-4 months now. My only gripe is that the black leather fades, so yes they are "black" but after a bit they look grey. Great boot.

These are super comfortable and grippy. The tongue, ankle and heel padding is very soft and they're easy to lace. I normally wear an 11 wide and fit a men's 12 in these. I tried on a few other pairs of Altras with awkward sizing (including the Olympus 6 low) but thankfully they have a great return policy.

Nice, lightweight boots. Haven't really tested their waterproof quality yet, but hiked about 35 miles in them and they're comfortable. I love that they provide enough room for my toes to splay, and also have plenty of vertical room in the toe box. Most shoes pinch the tops of my toes. My only dislike is that the foot bed isn't flat, especially in the front, it feels kind of bowl shaped, and with narrow feet like mine that means that there's room for my feet to "ride up the incline" towards the outside, which causes my ankles to "fall in". Sometimes I had to consciously move my feet inside the shoes back to the center so my ankle alignment was neutral again. Someone with normal width or wide feet probably won't have this problem. They are also pretty hot, but that's probably because they're waterproof.
Other than that, they're great boots, and I can recommend them for people who are looking for a wide toe box.

I usually wear a 7.5. ordered an 8 in these and they seem fine. Pleased with the fit and comfort. I agree with some that say the tongue is too short. The laces always end up on my ankle. I wear them doing chores in my many gardens and hiking at our property.
Gave them a 4 because of the tongue but really because i have never had such an ugly boot ! Who thought women would like a flesh colored boot ? And the green on the sole. What is with that. The black is almost as bad. How about a medium brown so it does not show so much soil and doesn't stand out as the worlds ugliest boot. Will NOT order again because of the color. Really bad.

I hiked many miles with no foot or toe pain! Awesome and now don't like anything but zero drop shoes. I just hate the color. Listed as tan but they are pink. Just give me brown.

I have lonepeak trail runners in size 9, these feel a full size smaller. But I took them on a 4 1/2 mile hike so I am stuck. I was thinking they might feel better after the hike but they did not. So while I like the boot, I bought the wrong size.

I bought this boot without checking the reviews, and after about 7 miles of wear I started to get some pain on the outside of my right ankle. It almost seemed like the stitching was too tight on the interior seam there. So I changed socks (right foot to left foot) and kept going. The next day I did about 8 miles with a pair of really thick socks and the laces a little loose to start. I also got the boots pretty damp/wet to start. I had to stop a couple times and re adjust the boot and sock. After that they feel fully broken in, and by far the most comfortable boot I have ever hiked in. I have been hiking as a guide for 30 plus years. I remember when all good boots came with a long, and often very uncomfortable break in period. I am not saying that this isn't a design flaw in the boot, it probably is, but if they hold up for another 80 plus miles I will gladly buy another pair, and go through the break in process if necessary. Its thats comfy. The last heavy pack trip I did my feet have never been so pain free. I got done and couldn't believe it. No aches, no hot spots, no soreness, nothing. Really impressive. So, maybe you will have an ankle issue? Maybe it will go away pretty quickly if you take care of it? Maybe you will buy different boots. The last thing I will say is this. I buy, and completely wear out a lot of boots every year. I have never owned a pair that lasted for more than 90 miles of wet heavy packing, that didn't have some break in issues.

Ooof, I'll start with the positive. This shoe is great and comfortable. I wear it in the city (Toronto winter) and did some mild winter hiking in Switzerland.
Before buying, I saw a review where someone mentioned this shoe "squeaks". I was like, pfft "yeah right". And what do you know. My right shoe squeaks as I walk, and it's annoying. I went to a fitness store and tried swapping out the insole. Didn't make a difference. I don't get it, but it's real.
If it weren't for the squeaking, I'd give this a solid 4. And a 5 if they had better colors; the black is like a dark, muted grey-green (but this doesn't bother me).

Love the way these feel on my feet- but after not many miles the rubber toe protection is delaminating and they shoe isn't waterproof- my feet got wet after wearing them in light rainy conditions- so maybe poor quality control- if these where waterproof and sturdy as describes that would be great - nut it hasn't been my experience with this model. Love Altras- please address quality thanks!

The shoes tore where the laces tie at the top on both shoes after two days of a ten day hike. Really disappointed in the quality. Other than that they were incredibly comfortable and capable.

Once again, this shoe is advertised as men’s but when it arrives, it is the women’s size. I returned one for my son for that reason. I indicated same. I ordered and it is the same issue so I have to return and re-order which means I won’t get it in time for a planned hike.

I like Altra since they came out with the Lone Peak 1 (Best shoe they ever made). That being said, I ordered these boots for my job. Website said they were black and pics looked all black. They are not entirely black. Leather is a dark grey, which is kind of a bummer since I need all black work boots. They are comfortable around the toe box and roomy. The tongue and ankle wrap is too padded and either I have a fat cankle or there isn't enough material to wrap around my ankle. The shoe laces are too small and always do not have enough traction to keep a knot firm. This seems to be an ever increasing problem when owning newer Altra shoes of any kind. They need laces like Hoka or Brooks.
Overall the boot is comfortable. The color isn't what I wanted or suggested on the website, the laces suck, and the ankle area doesn't have enough material for a proper wrap around feel.
Would I buy these again? I don't know. I love Altra shoes. But their quality above issues kinda suck.

My first boot version of the Olympus 6 for duty wear. It feels great and fits pretty true. However, I ordered black and it does not look black at all. Only the soles are. It's like a blueish, greenish faded suede look. I'll find a way to make it truly black. I've attached photo. I wish the color can be fixed.

As a daily wearer of the Torin 5 Luxe and Escalante Race, this comes closest of Altra's three waterproof boots to accommodating the width of my foot just behind my little toe. There's just a little pressure there, which I might forgive. But the boot tends to cant my foot inward, forcing my knees together, or my ankles to flex in an unnatural way, or for me to support most of my weight on the outside edges of my feet. I would choose the Topo Trailventure 2 WP over this one, both for fitting my foot and not interfering with my weight distribution.
