I really wanted to like this shoe. I normally run in Nikes but I always see folks wearing Hokas, and they have some cool color schemes. So, I decided to try them. They look nice but they gave me really bad blisters the first time I wore them. I even tried runnng in them two more times. But it was the same problem. They felt really comfortable but they made my right knee hurt after running, which has never happened to me before. Those things, plus the fact that they stretched out of shape pretty easily, made me decide to return them. Sadly I'm going back to Nike for my running shoes.

The back of the ankle is low and very rouch - zero padding. It rubbed and was very uncomfortable. I'm sure I would have gotten blisters if I wore it for more than a few minutes.

I ran outside 4 miles and on treadmill once. The shoes are too narrow compared to their predecessor.

This shoe has the most wonderful soft sole, but has a narrow and uncomfortable forefoot.

I got these shoes in a wide and they fit my feet but they are very hard to put the shoes on. They are causing major blisters on the back of my heels as well. Very frustrating because they are super comfy once I get them on. I get I have a 30 day window to send back, but it's also a hassle. This review is just for someone with wide feet to be weary of.

Went on a 3.5 mile tempo run and returned with 2 blisters. I ordered the 7.5 wide and it's not wide enough. There's a glitch in the return/exchange page and customer service has me going in circles so I'll just be reselling them. They did have a nice bounce when I tried them on and took a few steps but I felt the blisters coming in around mile 2.

I ordered a 7 w and found these to be longer than expected. The toe box feels snugger than I would like in an athletic shoe. I would need a 6.5 ww but that isn't offered. I do really love the brightly colored soles and darker fabric-The dark fabric makes it easier to keep them looking nice. The uppers are really nice and thin too-I suspect to keep your feet cooler.

I have been a loyal HOKA user for quite some time now and owned several pairs as well as gifted them for years because they are known for their comfort and quality. However, I recently tried this shoe out and really wanted to love it but unfortunately it gave me a strange pain on the outside of my left foot that I can't explain and have not experienced with any other shoe. From what I read the shoe can't be returned after worn/used and it's a shame due that these specific ones are not cheap. I hope they take our feedback into consideration because overall it's a great shoe but I can see I'm not the only one experiencing pain/discomfort.

I'm a long-distance runner and log 20-30 miles a week. I have been using HOKA's (different models) for a very long time and never had any issues with them. Until these Mach X2's. Just after my first short 4 mile run I developed blisters on my heels (never had that happen before with any of my previous HOKA's) and had a pressure spot on the outside of my foot. It looks like it could be a great shoe, but the new upper is not an improvement. Having seen other similar reviews, hopefully HOKA will address this in their new release!

These things feel like you're walking on clouds, the cushion is insane! However, the heel can be extremely stiff and painful. It rubbed so badly during my first slow break-them-in run that I had two massive bleeding/popped blisters on each foot by mile 2. After letting those blisters heal for a few weeks I tried again, this time wearing them to work for a day. Worked great for the first 8 hours of my 10 hour shift, and then they were rubbing painfully to the point that I was limping in my front door after a day of not really doing much, back of my heels red and ready to blister again. It's a shame, these shoes feel so great in all other aspects, and my dad who has a pair loves them. But buyer beware- the heel is NOT for everyone :(

These shoes were so painful. After running just one mile my feet were in so much pain. The upper is a mesh material with no cushion. The lower I thought was great.. I would not recommend these shoes.
I'd also recommend:
Hoka Clifton 9, Hoka Mach 6

I wanted to love this shoe. However, the lack of cushion/construction of the ankle collar shredded my heals and I had two blisters within a mile.

These shoes were so painful. The upper is a mesh material with no cushion. I tried running but after a mile, I was done. The sole was great! I wanted to try something new. I love my Clifton 8's, Mach 6 and others. Don't buy these! Hopefully they will redo the upper with a more comfortable material and keep the lower!!
I'd also recommend:

I tried these since Hoka phased out the Mach 5. This is supposed to be a light weight running shoe with a rocker bottom sole to propel one forward. Unfortunately, too many design flaws. For starters, the heel is way too narrow. If you're used to the wide heel counter of most Hokas, this shoe almost feels like your balancing on a tight rope. It makes shoe almost unbearable for walking, not horrible for running since the heel strike is so short while running. However, i still feel unstable running. Also, the upper material feels like a plastic instead of a soft fabric. It's completely porous so you can only run in dry weather. It helps with breathability and keeps the shoe super light but it's uncomfortable. Also, something about the amount of arch support on this that makes me load my foot more laterally (towards the outside) or maybe it's just over the instability making me supinate. My feet ache in these! HOKA stick with the classics, you're doing too much! They are very attractive however!

I was so excited for the Mach X2 to come out. I don't know if there is a Hoka shoe I have had before this one that I didn't love - for context, I am still wearing Clifton 8's for daily trainers, Mafate Speed 4 for daily trails, Tecton X2 for trail racing, Cielo X1, Rocket X and Rocket X2 for roads, and the most versatile of them all, the Mach X for longer runs/more up-tempo runs. So I do consider myself very, very loyal to HOKA! I tested these shoes for one easy 8 miler and they felt great for the first few miles - this really felt nothing like the Mach X to me and felt more like wearing a racing shoe like the Cielo X1 - but around mile 4 I felt my heels becoming hot as it was clear there was some rubbing, and by the time I got home I literally had to take them off in the driveway. The skin from my right heel had totally rubbed off and I had a nasty blister on the left although at least the skin was still there. I was, and still am, so very sad that I had to send these shoes back. The improvements in design, the color scheme - I was in love when I took them out of the box. I will be going back to the Mach X, but I really, really hope that the heels on these shoes can be made a little friendlier in the future. I love HOKA so much I couldn't give them a one star but not being able to wear these shoes over a few miles without my heels being completely rubbed raw was a huge disappointment on an otherwise seemingly really amazing shoe.

Can confirm, this shoe will wreck the back of your heel(s). I wore tall socks as well, but that didn’t make a difference. These shoes are definitely bouncy and offer a smooth ride, but not sure I can get past the pain it caused my heels.

I have many pairs of Hoka shoes. This style runs tight and smaller. Also, they are very hard to put on. The tongue is thin rubber, and the rubber extends to behind the heel. Every time you try to put them on, your heel(sock) rolls the rubber down, making it very hard to slide your foot in. I wish I had read other reviews before I purchased because others have had the same negative experience with this Hoka. Pass this one by.

I purchased this shoes at the end of of may and their insole is already looking like 1 year old ones, not even my 1 year old NB look as bad as this ones! Will not purchase again and will not recommend. It was my first time buying Hoka, never again

I went for one 3 Mile run, and they were fine. I then went for a 7 mile run and they almost drew blood. The heel on the left shoe dug in, and no amount of retying the laces did anything to it. Only the left side, and this has never happened before with any other shoe. I wish I had read the reviews beforehand. I am happy that Hoka is letting me return them. They are not good shoes

The MachX 2 was a replacement for my Clifton's that had the tread coming off after less than 3 months of wear. These MachX 2's were even worse. I have worn them about 15 times and the sole is coming apart from the shoe upper. The Hoka brand is not what it used to be. I loved this brand. I have purchased over 20 pairs of Hoka's and converted many people to the brand. I am done, I will never buy another pair. I hope they get back to the craftsmanship and quality that they had in the past, but after 2 failed pairs I will be looking for another brand.

I'm having to return these shoes. The 1st time wearing these they gave me blisters on the insides of both of my heels, along with a blood blister on the outside of my big toe. They were very comfortable, just wish they would have worked out. Love the color of these

I have had the Mach X 2 for about a week. After my 14 mile long run I heard a clicking sound on the last mile. When I got home the heal pad was detached and rubbing off.
