These were surprisingly uncomfortable. I bought them specifically because of their reputation as comfortable shoes, but I find that after walking more than about a half hour, the space between my toes and the ball of my foot just aches, I guess because of the awkward shape of the footbed. It's an expensive shoe considering the lack of comfort.

I have a pair of clogs but the sandals were too big in that same size. I had to order a smaller size. BUT I am returning them all because the hard plastic thong is SOOOO uncomfortable. Too bad, because the shoe is awesome otherwise...

This shoe is awful. So wanted to love it but the placement of the toe thong forces your foot off the edge :(

I have Plantar Fasciitis (PF) and this shoe was recommended to me because of that. It does indeed have great arch support for my PF, but unfortunately that's the only thing I liked about it. It's a very cute shoe- when I see people wearing them I always think they're adorable looking shoes, but my toes are short and this shoe is just not flattering to them. I also have a wide/extra wide foot, and even though it says that the Regular width will fit medium and wide feet, it wasn't quite wide enough for me. I'm also a size 10.5, but I was worried the 10/10.5 in this shoe would be too small, so I ordered the 11/11.5, and yep- it's a bit too big. I just have hard to fit feet I guess. Really wanted to love this shoe on me, but I just can't.

As some others have mentioned, the part that goes between the first and second toe is quite hard and hurt my foot after only a few hundred yards of walking. A shame, really, that Birkenstock won't use a softer material for this. Back to Zappos, they go.

I purchased a pair of "Gizeh" in black - they hurt my toes and I cannot wear them - my sister and niece have the same style and they had no trouble breaking them in - I have tried wearing socks in the house thinking it would help break them in but to no avail - I bought them at DSW and paid $103 so I am very upset that I am unable to wear them - do you have any suggestions?

The toe piece felt like hard plastic and was totally painful. Too bad, because the foot bed was wonderful.

One of my friends has this sandal and loves them. They look cute on her. The sole is comfortable, but this shoe is unattractive on me. Because I have a wide foot, I have to set the strap on the next to last whole. The center piece that comes up from between the toes is then off center on my foot. If the center strap had a loop around the top strap so it could stay straight when the top strap is loosened, that would solve the problem. Unfortunately, I am sending them back.

I expected to love this shoe; I've had other Birks and had thong sandals with the European foot bed -- and was happy with both. I thought the appearance was good. The plastic thong is terrible, particularly combined with the foot bed. I've had the shoes on 8 to 10 times for a total of less than 3 minutes because they were so painful, so am returning them. I have not given up on Birks and will try other styles in the future.

I really was looking forward to these. I was thinking they would be a more sophisticated Birk. But they are not what I expected. The "black patent" birkflo looks like really cheap plastic. Not cute, not chic. These are going back.

These are absolutely the cutest of all the Birks, and I have tried many. My husband and I agreed on that. However, they are also absolutely the most painful. That plastic thong is excruciating. I cannot imagine that many people would find it comfortable. I was so sad, because I really wanted to love these, they are so lovely. But the reason I wanted Birks was for the absolute comfort they provide, and style is secondary. If I want cute without a lot of comfort, I can go for a more delicate shoe. For Birks, comfort comes first, and the Gizeh does not provide any comfort.

Order one size down from your regular size as these run large. I don't recommend if you pronate. I found them to be very hard on the arch and the foot bed is also very hard. No cush in this shoe! Nicely made shoe though.

I love Birkenstock shoes. They're my workhorse shoes. This was my 5th pair in 10 years. I chose not to heed the negative reviews about the plastic piece between the toes because I'm tough and I do adjust to changes pretty well by nature. After 4 weeks of wearing them indoors, not only has the pain between my toes not gone away, there's an additional pain in my heels now and where the crossover strap rubs against my upper foot it causes occasional discomfort. Birks have helped my plantar fasciitis to go away for the last 10 years till now. The symptoms are returning and nothing else has changed in my life. I'm very disheartened about this pair of Birks. It seems they've made several changes not for the better...at least for my feet. I will return these and try a different style of Birks. Here's hoping for something better. Cuteness gets 5, comfort would get a zero if possible, overall 2 1/2 stars. Over-pronator, plantar fasciitis, flexible flat feet.

I know everyone loves this shoe, but I found the supports under my feet very uncomfortable. Very hard to get use to the supports. I am going to return them.

I absolutely love Birkenstock and I love Zappos...that said, I was very disappointed to learn that the Birkenstock Gizeh "Birko-Flor" are not genuine leather. They are made of a thin synthetic leather with a thicker felt-like fabric glued to the underside of the synthetic leather. I guess I had no idea that Birkenstock would ever lessen their standards. While the "Birko-Flor" styles look adorable, I question the long-term durability. If you're someone who is totally fine with the less expensive, synthetic leather version of the Gizeh, then this sandal is for you, as it is super cute. If you're not only looking for style, but also concerned about quality then I suggest ordering the Birkenstock Gizeh "Oiled Leather" sandal. As a side-note, I have to applaud Zappos for offering a 365 day, no questions asked return policy; I had no problem returning my Gizeh "Birko-Flor" sandals for the "Oiled Leather" sandals. Thank You Zappos!

I wore Birkenstocks for years a long time ago. This are nice looking and fit well. The soles are very comfortable. But the post between the toes is very sharp and uncomfortable. I am returning them.

I don't get the rave reviews on this sandal. The bottom is so hard and so uncomfortable and the thong between your toes is hard plastic and not leather. I suppose I expected more. Back they go!

After reading the great reviews for this shoe, I had high hopes. Unfortunately, I found them to be totally uncomfortable. I am baffled that anyone finds these comfortable. The sole is like a stiff board and the plastic thong hurts between the toes. I wear flip flops regularly, so I am used to wearing that style shoe. They are a cute shoe, and maybe would break in over time but I'm going on vacation and want something comfortable out of the box. As for sizing--I wear a 6.5-7 and the 37 was probably a size too large.

I love Birks! But these have a plastic piece between the toes. That is painful. I had to exchange for another style of Birks. I could not hang with the thick plastic digging between my toes.

I loved these! I normally wear a size 7 or 7.5. I ordered size 37 in Birko-Flo Titanium. Fit really well. And I think that has to do with the fact that I didn't try to shove the plastic piece of the shoe between my big toe and second toe. The shoe stayed in place due to the "leather" strap. My foot felt really supported. However, I am exchanging them for another pair because the cork was already split on the inside edge of the shoe by the strap. Hopefully the second pair will be better. The titanium color is a great bronze color.

I purchased these shoes at the start of the season and they are already coming apart at the sole right where my foot bends. It's really disappointing because I always felt that Birkenstock had really great quality. These shoes will have not even lasted one season which is really disappointing because, to me, they were expensive.

I loved these but am I the only one that has issues with the fake leather becoming discolored? It's really a bummer because they were so cute and now they look terrible - I have not abused them. :)

Thick plastic to connect the strap to the sole between the toe is really uncomfortable. I liked them otherwise, but returned because of that gouging into my toe. Don't understand why they didn't make it leather like the rest strap.

This was the most uncomfortable shoe I've ever tried on! I would be crippled before these broke in enough to be comfortable. Immediately returned them.
