I really wanted to love this shoe. I wanted to wear it crossing some water areas and the cushioning feels great but the toe box is just huge and my feet move around way too much in it. If I put socks on and tighten the strap at the back it would work, but the whole point is not to have to have socks. I do like the foot bed and feel like the arch support is good.

The hoka hopara 2 was recommended by my podiatrist. I used to walk on a beach barefoot nearly daily, but my podiatrist said no more barefoot.
The hoka hopara 2 is a bulky looking hiking sandal. It felt a little loose in the toe box, and maybe a little big overall. The back heel strap is Velcro so I was hoping that snugging it in might be the answer, but sadly the strap was attached to the shoe poorly and the threads just unraveled when I tried to tighten the heel strap. so I was unable to try them out and had to return.

I love the functionality of this shoe, but it is much stiffer with less cushion than I had expected. Decision pending

These shoes fit my size 9 feed fine. Lots of toe room too. I didn't check to see if the footbed was removable- which it is not. These felt more like "water shoes" and I am returning them.

These shoes are great. I love the color. I love the soul. I love it. They're waterproof and they get support. They're everything I want except the sizing is just bizarre!! 78? 7B??

I am usually an 8.5/39 and the 8 is the "right" size in these and they are super cute and the inter stretchy material is very comfy! But I have a low volume foot so there is a lot of loose fabric on the top of my foot when I cinch them down.

I ordered a 1/2 size larger. I normally wear a 8 1/2 but ordered a 9. I noticed in the last 2 Hokas I ordered they seemed smaller. The desin and style are great for walking/hiking on moderate terrain.

I think a half size smaller would be better.

Ordered my regular size but it was too large. Did not wear so can’t review the wearing process.
I'd also recommend:
I do like Hoka athletic shoes.

Overall comfy and fits my bunions. However the shoe is wide and the laces do not tighten enough.

I'm amazed at how wide these run. Additionally I would suggest ordering 1/2 size smaller. My other Hokas are size 11, so that's what I ordered.

These shoes are comfortable and provide good cushion. They are a bit wider than a regular wide, but my bunions fit well . When I tighten the laces, the tongue buckles and does not lie flat. FitsLovely colors

I liked the idea of the updated Hopara 2 with the mesh to prevent stone getting in. But they have less neoprene, which may make them cooler, but allowed the mesh to rub against my foot when I walked briefly around my house in them. I have very sensitive skin and ended up purchasing the original Hopara. The unisex sizing on the original Hopara fit just fine, even on my slightly narrow feet.

I use the sneakers to run errands, do my knee exercises, for around the house, everywhere. The problem
is pulling up and down on the strings to loosen the shoes enough to get them on and off more easily.

I am new to Hoka except for a pair of recovery sandals I wear indoors and I DO love them! They take the place of going barefoot (forbidden by my podiatrist!) and my feet feel better.
I resisted getting regular Hoka shoes, also recommended by podiatrist, as I just don't like lacing up all the time and have never worn "tennis shoes" except for on the courts. I liked the idea of a sandal like this Hopara and was pleasantly surprised when I tried them on in the store. I don't do any hiking or off-road walking but these do the job on my regular walks. I'm getting more used to the adjustment of the heel strap, and trying to forget the ease of just slipping into my Skechers in seconds. I will have to keep my big toenail shorter than usual, as there seems to be some rubbing there, and side fit is not as snug as I am used to. But they ARE extremely comfortable while walking and I do not regret the purchase!

I bought two pair of these, one for me and one for my daughter before our trip to Costa Rica. It was between these and Keen water/trail sandals. I decided to try these. Our main purpose for them was to be able to go tubing and hiking in the rainforest without switching shoes. They did not disappoint. They were comfortable even when wet, provided great traction on the rocks, and protected our feet from the rocks when going through the rapids. They fit true to size.
The reasons I did not give them five stars: I didn't feel like they dried any faster then regular lightweight shoes and we both got a couple raw spots on our feet when we walked/jogged on the beach. Now to be fair, I think the sand getting into the shoes and being wet is what caused the raw spots; so next time we use them for the beach, we are going to try wearing some water socks with them.
I'd buy them again. I think they are great for hiking in damp conditions and they are probably going to be good lake/boat shoes.
