(I have received this product for free in exchange for writing an honest review) I have worn other zero drop shoes before and the Lone Peak 8s have more "sole" to them than most, yet still allow you to feel the terrain as you walk/run. Very comfortable on first wear. Wide toe box gives your feet pleanty of room to spread out and ample cushioning around the ankle and heel (again, more than most that i have worn in the past). Very good grip and feel from the soles, no issue with losing traction at any point. Shoes seem to be of good materials and construction. Have worn them for just over 2 weeks now, mostly walking, out and about and a handful or runs and so far, no concerning wear with either the soles or the stitching on the uppers. Colors need a little getting used to but other than that, a very good, very comfortable, well performing shoe.

I've been buying altras for many years and continue to buy them mostly because they are zero drop, and decent shoe. I wear mine for trail running, and hiking peaks. never know how the new generations will fit me which is a little annoying. Upper durability seems to have improved. The main issue I have is the soles. The tread is worn out way too fast on every model of lone peaks I've ever had. The best pair of shoes Altra has made was the king mountain. The vibrant soles lasted at least twice as long and I loved the minimal but protective footbed. As of now, the line peaks are the best zero drop shoe I know of, but they're really the only ones that are a true running shoe. I'd love to see a vibram sole and consistent fit on new generations. The current soles are probably the worst soles on any trail shoe I've owned.

After taking the Men's Lone Peak 8 out on the trails, through mud, over rocks, and even on a few casual city walks, I've really grown to like them. There's something about the grip they offer that just makes me feel secure, no matter the terrain. And they've been unexpectedly comfortable, too. Even after hours of hiking, my feet still felt pretty good, which I guess is thanks to the roomy front part of the shoe that lets my toes spread out. While I might not know all the technical jargon or the specific features that make them work so well, I do know they've served me well on many adventures. Whether you're hitting the trails regularly or just need a sturdy pair of shoes for outdoor activities, these have proven to be a reliable choice, even if they could do with a bit more ventilation and a lighter touch.

Can you please include a subdue color shoe, like the Lone Peak 6 Black/Grey, a hint of color is, ok? As a hiker this is my lifestyle shoe, I have multiple pairs and wear them every day, but the color choices for the Lone Peak 8 just isn't there...

I love my Lone Peak 6. This shoe is pretty good but i did not like that I can feel the tracks on the sole of the shoe while walking. It seemed to get better with next walk or I just got used to it. You should listen to your customers bring back the 6.

Overall they have the right amount of padding and support that I would like, but they are a bit narrow in the toe-box area which causes discomfort. I would also like if they had a bit less rubber (if that's the material that I think it is). It has a lot of squeeky sounds when moving around in them. Overall decent pair of shoes but not my favorite.

Since recieving the Men's Lone Peak 8s, I've taken multiple hiking trips. My region of the country is mostly mountains and hills so Ilike to take care of my feet through the rough terrain. Between the fit and protection of the shoes coupled with the firm but cushioned insoles, these are easily the best shoes I've ever booked in. The only problem is that they feel a half size too big. Now I know for next time I order some. (There will definitely be a next time). Great shoes overall!

These shoes provide great comfort. Luxurious cushioning to feet while hiking or walk. Perfect fit gives the feel of wearing it without worries. Have you used on rough paths of trail and during hiking. Both gave me soothing effect. Feet are not tired and had a feather lite comfort. would recommend this brand and model to friends and family.

Just did a 4 day hike in Tasmania and the shoe was awesome. Had to hold my nose to buy the ugliness of them though. Really creepy ugly colors. Girl friend won't let me wear them out other than when out hiking. Really don't understand the thinking as I would buy a second pair for around town if they weren't so embarrassingly ugly.

What a great shoe, but can we can some normal color schemes that don't resemble highlighters?

The lone peaks are simply the best. However, there needs to be some more neutral/subdued color options. Bring back the straitforward blacks/dark grey/green without any bright accent colors.

By far the best shoes ive ever owned but Why can't you make a pair of black lone peaks. I bought 3 pairs of the black lone peak 6s. I'm down to my last pair, please make them in black.

I have an older pair of these and they are amazing! Love the width and how my foot feels in the show. They're grippy and provide a stable foundation for completing strenuous activities, like hiking mountains or walking through forests. But wow, these colors are atrocious. I'm hoping I can pick another pair of these up soon in a better color way, otherwise, I'll have to pick a different brand, which I don't want to do! I like the bold colors, but please make them less hideous.

Please don't change the colorways! The running shoe world is full of boring colors or colors that attempt to be cool. The Lone Peak colorways are earthy and not flashy.
These are great trail running shoes and the colors are the icing on the cake.

The Lone Peak 8 is half size longer than the 7. The width is the same. I cant go down to a 7.5 regular because it will be too narrow, so I have to order a 7.5 wide and add a second insole. The shoe stack is still to thin for longer hikes in my option. I'm hiking the PCT. The Olympus is too narrow, it has a static tongue attachment, and the supper does not stretch to accommodate different food shapes.

Very comfortable shoe. I love the shoe height and the grip. This was my first Altra shoe. Tired of the high heel height of my past trail running shoestired of almost turning ankles. Half size too big

I have Lone Peak 6 I still wear; but the 8's seem cheaply made and are coming apart. So disappointing as they are my most preferred shoe for comfort.

Altras are the only shoes I have been wearing for a few years now. I might have to quite though, because they are too tight in the width of the toe box. All my older pairs fit fine, but every new pair I buy is too tight, even if I get them a full size too big. So I had to sent both of my new pairs back. Its frustrating because the people I have talked to at Altra say the width has not changed, LOL, whatever: no pain wearing old Altras, pain wearing new Altras.

I'm a little disappointed. I loved the 6's so much and the 8's just don't feel the same. I wish you would bring them back. I'd continue buying the 6's but not sure I'll keep buying new models

I have been using Superiors for years. This time I tried LP. This shoe has some stiff plastic reinforcements at the top of the sole in the heel area. I took the shoe on a 100k+ ultra and found those plastic pieces doug in the sides of my heels resulting in blisters. Otherwise, the shoe would have been great.

Too narrow for me at least. I do have a 2E foot so if you have a width like that or close it may be a no go unless you run without socks. Sucks there isn't wide in this shoe, but the past models do?

Everything about the shoe is great, except for the colours and lack of Vibram outsole.
It would be great if there was a solid black or dark grey option, even some neutral earth tones similar to the Arc'teryx shoe colours.
A higher priced version of the Lone Peak with a Vibram Megagrip outsole (similar to the Arc'teryx Norvan SL 3, the sole on that shoe is very flexible and very durable) something like that would be cool to see on the Lone Peak!

Great shoes for dry non-tech trails. Traction just ok when wet but no waterproofing.

Altra offers a wide toe box which is what I wanted but these shoes did not fit right on me because the mid section of the shoes were too narrow, and the toe box starts flaring past where my toes start. Half size smaller were even tighter around the mid section. Pinky toe rubbed uncomfortably against the area where the protective rubber section covering the toes meets the fabric upper.
