If you've worn lone peaks 7s, this shoe will feel very familiar. Slight changes to the upper for added durability, and the same chevon pattern on the out sole as the previous version. Same comfortable toe shaped for box and similar stack height that's pretty ideal for long hikes or trail runs. Another classic from Altra!

I am not a runner, but love comfortable shoes in these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.

I've been wearing lone peaks since the beginning, mainly because they are the only real trail runner made in a size 16. I know everyone loves saying "Altras aren't what they used to be" and I totally disagree. These shoes are great. Other than getting a little narrower for a few versions, i really don't notice a difference from one version to the next. These seem to be back to the original toe box. And for all the people complaining about the colors, I would suggest to go run trails when it is snowing and raining and muddy and when it's hot and dry and dusty and your shoes will get really dirty and no one will see the colors! Personally, the colors are way down on the list of why I purchase a shoe

The best in class toe box, super comfy and truly zero drop! The customer service also goes above and beyond !
Suggestion : introduce better colors for wide sizing!

The shape is back to the 6's! The 7's didn't fit me. The colorways have gotten worse each year since the 4.5's. I wear these daily to teach. Please offer some basic colors like the black/grey from 4.5's.

Bought these for a deployment. Only downside is the toe guard that is glued on top of the rip stop is separating after a week of use. I think its due to the creases of normal use. Is this covered?

My main favorite is the Lone Peak. I wish they made more wide width shoes that didn't have that extra-cushiony Hoka-like bulky style. I wear a Women's 8 Wide, but the Men's 7 Standard seems to work. They used to last 18 months, but now I buy a pair every year, maybe they changed factories. But this is the best fitting shoe, and I've tried a lot. Please make work-wear shoes. I work in a restaurant and a warehouse. Thank you.

I've been using the Lone Peak shoe ever since the third version, and I'll keep coming back. I love the lightness and the touch/feel they give me on the trail. I tend to roll my ankles a lot due to having disproportionately small feet, and the extra ground feel I have while wearing these shoes allows me to know where to place my foot before putting all my weight on it and avoid injury. My only critique is that the insole material is not overly comfortable for running downhill, as it is on the thin side and collapses easily. I see it as a tradeoff for having extra ground feel on the trail.

Great shoe (like all of the Altras I've worn). Wondering why it is so hard to have consistent sizing through all of the shoe offerings?

The toe box is perfectly sized for my foot. The zero drop is exactly what I'm looking for. Traction has been great so far on snowy paths and I hope they hold up well enough to test on non- snowy trails. I've noticed that on many shoes made these days, the sole wears exceptionally fast. This means that my shoes lose tread well before the rest of the shoe gives. The jury is still out on these, but after experiencing early tread loss in 2 other brands of shoes, I have significant concerns the tread will last longer than 250 miles of hiking and trail running.

I wish these tied like the old lone peak 6. The lone peak 7&8 are not as easily adjustable with the laces. These should have round laces I changed them out and they work better on adjusting.
I also wish you had better photos showing the lacing situation. I did not know this had changed when i opened my lone peak 7. I purchase a lone peak 8 as you had no other but I do not like
them as well as the lone peak 6. I also wish the lone peaks had a thicker upper liner in the toe as I wear them out here first b4 any other part of the shoe has worn down.

Build this with Salomon quality and it would be the greatest shoe ever created. Would also like to see the tan/blue color come back.

I need to add CURREX SupportSTP insoles AND ProFoot heel inserts, and then these shoes are pretty perfect. (I find the zero-drop angle too harsh on my heel and ankle).

Disclaimer: I run with orthotics on top of the insoles in these shoes, so my experience is a little different, probably, from most people. My 3rd pair of LPs, moved up from LP7s (which I LOVE) after lots of internal debate. CONS: Short story is that it's taking a lot longer to get these really dialed in than it did the LP7s. Currently about 40K on mostly technical trails in these. The LP8s feel "shallower" than the LP7s, which is causing the knots to sit in a different position no matter how I lace them, and I'm experiencing some lace bite because of it. The heels feel much looser than the LP7, no matter how tight I lace them, which exacerbates the lace bite and has caused some instability that I've had to get used to, and which will probably lead to some heel mods. PROS: Love the change in fabric for the uppers (same as LP6), love the toe box, the Max-Trac has been good and grippy on wet terrain, and they ARE breaking in better as time goes on. I'm just used to LPs feeling awesome right out of the box, so this has been a little bit of a weird experience. But I would still recommend these without reservation.

Perfect width. Not super wide like past versions. Heel is less sloppy than past versions. Lacing system is pretty straightforward. Outsole is stiff enough; no stoneguard needed unless very rugged terrain. A little pricey; should be $120-130. Great for hiking, probably not stable for trail running.

I've had these shoes for around 3 months now I guess. Love everything about the shoe and the wide width. But please offer us more color options in wide width. ONE choice is a slap in the face.

Best shoe I have found for my foot issues and comfort. My only issue is that they tend to wear quickly with minimal use. Unfortunately with my recent purchase it appears the glue is quickly failing.

Second pair of Lone Peak 8's. I have wide feet, sciatica and worn-out knees and these have been the best for those issues. Comfortable. Received a 4 instead of a 5-star because they are 1/2" larger.

Love the shoes. I hike in them and walk around in town with them on. The only thing I wish they would add is more earth tone colors. Once you get used to the wide toe box, you want to wear them all the time. But, the color options are to bright and not well suited for wearing around town.

These are do it all amazing shoes, but PLEASE just make some low key colors that just blend in and don't draw attention to themselves as a running shoe. A lot of your customers just want to wear them as an everyday shoe and don't want teal, green or blue shoes.

New to Altra and have only had the Superior 6s. Put about 400 miles on them and loved them but wanted to try out the LP as the outsole was beginning to ware on the superiors. Was afraid of the extra stack/ cushion ruining the ground feel but after a couple tests it seems pretty similar with just some more comfort on downhills. This shoe doesn't feel too much heavier or sturdier as I expected. Will likely be rotating between this and the superiors, using the LP for longer runs or runs that include more pavement.

Perhaps you're a victim of your success but your older shoes are better than the newer ones. I just bought more lone peak 6's (might be the last pair in my size). Please go back to older designs!

Very comfortable, very light, but the (advertised) wide toe box is REALLY wide. Altra's wide (normally about a 2E width), is really more like a 4E. So be cautious when ordering.

Altra Lone Peak 8 Dual-purpose pairs of shoes serve as hiking boots and are as light and flexible as running shoes! I have never owned a pair, this comfortable and stylish as these! I took these shoes out for a light hike and loved how breathable and light these shoes are on my feet. The front of the shoe is curved to allow for the big toe to either dig in the Earth or grip while scaling a mountain or rock climbing wall. The inside of the shoe has almost a parallel profile to keep flush on extreme climbs with maximum grip. Overall, a perfect pair of shoes for all your hiking, rock climbing and running needs.
