I needed a more durable shoe than the Alphacross 5 for work so I purchased the XA PRO 3D 9 Goretex. This is the durability I was seeking, the ankle stability it great and I love the quick lace. No more having to tie my shoes all day. I think the fit and over all comfort is superior to my Alphacross as well. Im super happy with these!

My 3rd pair of Salomon hiking shoes. Great shoegood design, very durable, holds its original form for years. Will buy another pair of Salomon hiking shoes when its time to replace this pair. Cant imagine switching to another brand.

Fit great as a wide foot. Love the quick lace and the tread is great. Feel pretty comfortable on and going to do plenty of hiking in them. Have had many pairs of speed cross so hope they are same quality. Replace every 6-8 months. Your feet are important and shoes wear out.

I bought an older version of these shoes about 5-6 years ago and loved them. These newer ones feel like they don't have the same grip the earlier versions had. That said great toe protection, strong shoe, and still one of the better shoes for hiking out here in Colorado. Built well and will last many years.

I've purchased and worn more pairs of XA PRO over the years I can't count them. They've been ruggedly sturdy. Now my feet are getting older and bruised up. I need a shoe that has solid stability with a lot of cushion at the ball of the foot. They are hard to come by. I'm older and still hike a lot. It's hard for me to wear psychedelic colors which seems to be the trend. In the future I hope Soloman will have a better selection of these types of trail running and hiking shoes. I've seen the latest Soloman releases, like the shoe, hate the colors. I guess I'm old style.

Shoe is as expected, as I've owned previous versions. The only concerns I'd raise are: 1) the shoe feels noticeably larger in a side-by-side comparison to other Salomon shoes of the same size, maybe by 1/2 of a size, 2) the asymmetric lacing system does apply some uneven pressure, specifically near the toe box, and 3) the time it takes to hide the "laces" in the lace hiding system can take longer than tying regular shoes.

Own a pair of the XA Pro 3D V8 in a wide fit and they are significantly wider than these. Don't know why Salomon have produced a wide fit shoe which is so much narrower than previous versions. Surely the whole point of a wide fit version is to accommodate a wider foot. Or perhaps I am confused.....

Insoles are too thin to insulate bottom of my feet from feeling the tread pattern when walking on hard surfaces. Shoes need more insulation between tread and insole like the X Ultra 04 hiking shoes that I previously owned.

The only thing is that the choice of color is not great has it use to be. You should hava more colors because the black is not that popular.

It would be amazing, unfortunately it has 0 cushion for backheel that means friction destroys skin. It was the same with v8. Unforgivable for such high price

But, they now have a wider toe box than before. Been wearing this shoe for many years and the V9 is not what the previous versions were. I have a narrow foot and was so happy to find the Salomon's and the lacing system is the bom, being able to slip into them. Anyhow, now looking for a new shoe. Peace!

Hi,
I used Salomon's sizing and measurement chart for I used Salomon's sizing and measurement chart for the first time. The shoes I received are fine to walk on flat surface, but going downhill, no. My fingers were pressed against the front of the shoes the whole time, although I ordered the larger of what the chart actually recommended. The shoes feel small despite being the wide model.

The shoes seem to be of excellent quality... I wish they fit, but I tried various sizes of the Wide Fit and I would hardly consider the Wide Fit to be wide at all.... I'm disappointed. If you have narrow feet, these seem like a great find!

I've been using the XA Pro for around a month. They replaced my Speedcross 5's. Honestly, I don't think they are as supportive or as comfortable. Given the choice then I would prefer Speedcross again.

I've had 4 different shoes from Salomon over the years, I think the first pair I got was back in 2011 or so? I've always loved them. I wear size 10 in EVERY shoe...except Salomon. I've always worn a size 10.5. At my mistake, I threw away the packaging for these shoes before I could even think about a return. The shoe looks GREAT (in blue) but after a day or so of wearing it, there's just too much movement. It's almost like it's a size 10 and 3/4? Is that a thing? It is now. Ha! I don't mean to bash but just being honest. It's my fault but pretty pricey mistake on my part. I wish I had tried on the size 10's but again, I've never worn that in Salomon. I might try & sell on FB marketplace. I dunno. Thicker socks in the summer are never fun. Just a bit disappointed but again, the quality is what I love about Salomon.

I found not to be as comfortable as the speedcross nor the tread as good.
For the money (expensive) I am disappointed.

Shoes felt fine around the house for initial testing. Took them out onto the trails and the left shoe absolutely shredded my toe about 4km in. Weeks later, my toe is still pretty mangled.
Goretex was perfect. These shoes are just far too narrow and firm.

Toe box was still kinda cramped, and the arch portion of the shoe was unbearably narrow. Also, one of the shoes immediately started squeaking with every step.
Return was easy though

Hiking in these shoes feels like having boards strapped to my feet. A bit wider than most Solomons I've owned too. At least the third pair of Solomon's I've tried to replace the beloved X Ultra GoreTex 3's that are no longer made (of which I have worn at LEAST 3 pairs to their death did we part).

Shoes are light and reacting well but....stitching of the shoes close to the heel generat huge friction and by so important blisters (I've never really been subject to blisters before).
