I bought my first pair of these a month ago and haven't stopped wearing them. Great shoe for hiking and all around kicking around.

Toe box was disappointingly narrow for a wide shoe. Will be returning.

Picked these up in lieu of my old XA Pro 3D v8s. The shoe fits great and seems as robust as its predecesor. Although Im intrigued by the idea of waterproofing, the lack of breathability means I regularly have to remove my shoes to cool off, even when just sitting in the office. Hopefully will improve during the winter time.

I have had these for about 10 months. About 6 months into having them the soles started falling apart. While looking for another pair (even with the short life) I discovered the warranty possibilities. After contacting Salomon they made it right! The waterproof feature makes them perfect for my job. Hoping the first pair was a fluke because I was very happy with the fit and comfort.

This is first time had any issues with shoes wearing out after 3 months of wear. All previous shoes lasted about a year. Wear these most days during summer.

I use these for hiking, and also construction work. I love the maneuverability, waterproof, and the automatic laces are super convenient for me! Seems durability might have gone down a little, not sure, but thats the only reason for four stars. I often wear a size 13, but for these I get a 14 and the fit is real nice.

I have been purchasing Solomon boots for work for approximately the last 10 years. The last several pairs I bought have all fallen apart in relatively short time. The last pair I bought in the first week of wearing them, while lacing them up, a eyelit popped out. Contacting Solomon customer service to get a replacement pair was a nightmare. They eventually sent me a coupon code for the value of the shoes to order a different pair with free shipping, however, the discount code they gave me did not include free shipping so after calling customer service back, they told me I would have to pay the shipping and then submit a claim to be reimbursed for it. I am done with Solomon products.

Design and customer service has declined rapidly. My shoes came apart on top with low usage. They declined to warranty because I was 3 months past. I have been a customer for 30 years but Salomon is making cheaply manufactured shoes now.

I've had 2foot surgeries in the last 5 years and these are the only shoes I can put on in the morning and wear all day without any foot pain. It is also my 3rd pair!

I bought the V9 because I wanted a waterproof trail shoe for my true 2E feet. Because I had tried many shoes without satisfaction (Icebug and all of REI's offerings), I was willing to risk the V9 in spite of it having a quick-lacing system. After five months, this is what I have learned: ++ The Quicklace is superb! I just pull (on the handle) and tuck (into the tongue pouch). I have also not experienced the dreaded big toe pressure (where the lace crosses above the big toe) that others have reported with other quick-lacing designs. + Good balance between protection and feedback from the outer sole - Contagrip is so-so on wet wood/roots - Heel fit is modest. The sensation is of my heels pulling out a mm or two before every step. I'm used to a near-perfect fit with my other trail shoes. The V9's heel fit reminds me of the fit with hiking boots, but slightly better. I suspect that the close fit in the forefoot (see the next section) exacerbates the sensation that my heels are pulling out. -- This is not a 2E out of the box. I'd rate it a does-not-exist 1E. Even though I expect any new shoe's upper to stretch to fit, my other 2Es (Nike and New Balance) conformed more closely to my feet out of the box. I don't regret buying the V9. It certainly is the best of all the waterproof 2E shoes I tried. I just hope that it's built to be durable in terms of continuing to be waterproof and that the glued parts stay glued.

If like me you have size 13 feet and need a wide fitting you will find these shoes to be as comfortable, hard wearing and protective as ever they were. Sadly they're not widely available and you can have any colour you like as long as it's black.

But, they now have a wider toe box than before. Been wearing this shoe for many years and the V9 is not what the previous versions were. I have a narrow foot and was so happy to find the Salomons and the lacing system is the bom, being able to slip into them. Anyhow, now looking for a new shoe. Peace!

I believe this is my 5th generation pair of XA Pros. Once again, Salomon gets it right. They are not so different than beat-up V5 pair, or V7s that I still wear. Just a few tweaks here and there but the same fit and speedlace that just plain works. I also supinate and find many off-road shoes quickly fatigue my knees w/ their curved lasts. The XA Pro's with their almost-straight last never have. Hence, they are my daily shoe. Bought the GorTex version this time around as occasionally find need of keeping dry in the rain. I'll take the trade-off of a maybe being warmer in the summer. And the new blueish "Flint Stone" colorway (they certainly dont look like Fred's ) is a good change from the neutral black I have bought in the past.

Toe box was still kinda cramped, and the arch portion of the shoe was unbearably narrow. Also, one of the shoes immediately started squeaking with every step. Return was easy though

I bought these approximately 7 years ago and they are my goto summer hiking shoe for the moderate to light terrain mountain trails. I also have spent many-a-day around the town wearing these and have been comfortable the entire time no matter the condition; the dry grip is 100%, wet grip or stream crossing wet rocks I'd say ~85%. The outside of the shoe is amazing and in great condition. The area that broke down on me from wear was not the outside but the heel box inside primarily the left and right side of the heel. (it is worn down to the hard plastic shell of the heel box so I am looking at replacement of them.) Overall well worth the cost to be able to get over 7 good strong years out of them using them as both a goto summer hiker as well as a goto city shoe (which means they got a lot more wear than the rest of the Salomons in my collection.

Love the product, have many pair, but their warranty process is terrible. 2 year warranty only applies to an online purchase, my REI claim was denied because I submitted at 53 weeks, 1 week outside their store policy. The bottom eyelet had torn open. Salomon customer service said they only handle online purchase claims, so I was left to the REI policy. So you're screwed.

After having hiked only 40 miles on the Timberline trail in Oregon, holes started appearing in the creases of the outer fabric. After a total of 150 miles after doing the TMB, the proprietary shoe lace started to fall apart and cut into the shoe lace loops. I wont be wearing these anymore and having spent $160 for a hiking/trail running shoe, Im extremely disappointed. I have owned a lot of Salomon shoes, , including several X Ultra 3s that are still usable after 3 years/450 miles. When I first received the shoes, I had my reservations about the outer material as its stiff and not flexible in the areas that bend a lot and form creases. Never had a shoe fail like this on me.

Bought this shoe after my previous generation of Salomons wore out. It's one of the VERY FEW options that Salomon offers in WIDE WIDTHS. Overall quality is superb. Verified waterproof. Not as wide as previous iterations of Salomons that I've worn, but its definitely wider than their standard shoe. Only fault I can find is that I have sore feet after an 8 hour shift at work where I'll generally put in more than 20k steps on concrete. I'm hopeful that if these were worn on trails or a softer surface that the foot fatigue won't be as bad.

These shoes are awesome fit and wear. They are great for me with the waterproof feature as I walk the yard or down by the river. I love the quick zip feature. This is my 5th pair of this style shoe from Salomon.
