Had the shoes 4 months and had several holes in the inside of the shoe. Parts of the shoe are plastic. Exterior looks fantastic. Only wear them to the gym, so unsure why the inside of the shoe didn't hold up. Had the exact opposite with Brooks. I will try a different style of salomon's.

This is at least the 3rd pair of this model I have bought over the recent years. They all look great and are super comfortable. However, the durability has been poor each time. They all tend to fail a bit too soon on pretty much the same spots. The slim plastic shoe string simply cuts through the fabric on top surface of the shoe with normal wearing. Just from the normal friction. Right above and behind the toes. In addition, the shoe cracks on the side way too easy. Right where the rubber components meet the fabric. The current pair I have is relatively new and hasn't even seen rain nor a real sunny and hot day. I have a few pairs of different shoes so this is not my only pair of daily shoes. This shoe has not been on any trials or rugged road yet. Simply disappointing!

I have 4 different pairs of Salomon shoes, and all gore tex type. Durable material for outdoor use, rain, wet, mud, etc. keeps my feet dry and easy to clean keep fresh looking. Few pairs use for work wear for my daily office causal - with nice complements of my shoes collection. Overall well design, fun visual, and comfortable. A bit more $$ but worth it or wait for sales.

I bought these approximately 7 years ago and they are my goto summer hiking shoe for the moderate to light terrain mountain trails. I also have spent many-a-day around the town wearing these and have been comfortable the entire time no matter the condition; the dry grip is 100%, wet grip or stream crossing wet rocks I'd say ~85%. The outside of the shoe is amazing and in great condition. The area that broke down on me from wear was not the outside but the heel box inside primarily the left and right side of the heel. (it is worn down to the hard plastic shell of the heel box so I am looking at replacement of them.) Overall well worth the cost to be able to get over 7 good strong years out of them using them as both a goto summer hiker as well as a goto city shoe (which means they got a lot more wear than the rest of the Salomons in my collection.

Hi, I used Salomon's sizing and measurement chart for I used Salomon's sizing and measurement chart for the first time. The shoes I received are fine to walk on flat surface, but going downhill, no. My fingers were pressed against the front of the shoes the whole time, although I ordered the larger of what the chart actually recommended. The shoes feel small despite being the wide model. This is my second pair and I buy these because of the comfort level and durability.

I buy Salomon quality. I spend a lot of time on my feet and Salomon always delivers.

Love the product, have many pair, but their warranty process is terrible. 2 year warranty only applies to an online purchase, my REI claim was denied because I submitted at 53 weeks, 1 week outside their store policy. The bottom eyelet had torn open. Salomon customer service said they only handle online purchase claims, so I was left to the REI policy. So you're screwed.

I was having back issues and looking for a very supportive shoe. I found that these shoes fit awesome. They have reduced my back pains. I will be buying another pair soon.

The shoes seem to be of excellent quality... I wish they fit, but I tried various sizes of the Wide Fit and I would hardly consider the Wide Fit to be wide at all.... I'm disappointed. If you have narrow feet, these seem like a great find!

Been a fan of these shoes for several years. This version did not last 4 months before fraying and loss of water protection. Soles started separating at less than 6 months.

After having hiked only 40 miles on the Timberline trail in Oregon, holes started appearing in the creases of the outer fabric. After a total of 150 miles after doing the TMB, the proprietary shoe lace started to fall apart and cut into the shoe lace loops. I wont be wearing these anymore and having spent $160 for a hiking/trail running shoe, Im extremely disappointed. I have owned a lot of Salomon shoes, , including several X Ultra 3s that are still usable after 3 years/450 miles. When I first received the shoes, I had my reservations about the outer material as its stiff and not flexible in the areas that bend a lot and form creases. Never had a shoe fail like this on me.

Hiking in these shoes feels like having boards strapped to my feet. A bit wider than most Solomons I've owned too. At least the third pair of Solomon's I've tried to replace the beloved X Ultra GoreTex 3's that are no longer made (of which I have worn at LEAST 3 pairs to their death did we part).
