I have Torin 3 and I bought a 6 and this one. The 6 has a razor sharp tongue but otherwise okay. This shoe was too long in my normal size so I sized down. It is disappointing because it is very narrow. I love altra because of the roomy toe box but these don't have that feature. I went down a full size and it still slides some and is tight but I decided to keep them. I can wear about a day a week - I have mortons neuromas and if I wear them more it hurts. I wish you'd go back to the older design with a roomy toe box and soft tongue.

Significant change in the toe box feel from the torin 6. Really regret not buying the 6 again. Aside from the toe box no longer feeling natural, the foam feels stiffer under foot. The tongue is finally nice enough though to not dig into your ankle.

I wear an 8 in the provisions/ escalantes, so I tried an 8 in the Torins. They were way too tight - my feet were numb and tingling after running in them less than a mile. Love the colors though

I have 14.5 miles on these and cannot return them as I bought them at the beach. I usually wear size 8.5 regular women's in Provisions and Lone Peaks and size 9 women's in Paradigms. Got size 9--they hurt my feet so much, I can only run 2 miles in them without wanting to tear off the tops--so constricting. Also, the shoelaces come untied ever 3/4 of a mile, so I bought new shoelaces, which worked. They look nice on but the forefoot sole feels like it has no cushioning and compresses so I feel as if something is grinding into the soles of my footpads.

Well, after patiently awaiting a new and improved model that comes close to the Torin 4.5 Plush, I tried the 7s and sent them back. Of course, Altra had to fix the razor sharp and stiff tongue after the outcry. The new tongue is great. They changed two other things that make it entirely different from the 4.5the heel and the width/volume. The heel collar/tab is much more structured. It's higher, molded, and more rigid. If I had never fallen in love with the 4.5s, I'd probably be okay with this. But knowing what I know and loving what I love, I don't love the heel on the 7s as much. It feels overdone. The heel on the 4.5s was imperceptible when running, whereas you can feel this one and it's a bit distracting. As for the width and volumeoverall it's narrower. It now has the Standard width rather than Original width/foot shape. It most definitely feels too narrow in the midfoot and forefoot. The toe box feels less voluminous (top to bottom), so some may find their toes touching the "roof" of the shoe. Also, the cushion feels different than the 4.5s, but good. For those of us comparing this shoe to the 4.5 and earlier models, there will be some disappointment since it's an entirely different shoe. For those new to the shoe or comparing it to the 5 or 6, you will probably like, or even love, this shoe. I realize that the tongue improvement alone makes a lot of people happy, but I'm still sad about this shoe not being a closer match to the 4.5. I didn't bother trying the wide version in this model, as the only color it comes in blueand I'm still sulking. Finally, I'll say that although the colorways for this model are an improvement, Altra still needs to master colors with most of their lines. I always look at most of the colorways and can't decide if I even like them. I wish they'd offer more colored outsoles, incorporate more options with black accents, and use more on-trend colors. Final advice, just try this shoe for yourself. If you have more of a standard foot, you might like it. If you have a wide forefoot or bunions, definitely order the one color (blue) that comes in wide. The overall fit feels true to size. I wear an 8.5 and the 8.5 felt right.

Agree with other reviewers. Tongue is good, but shorter and toebox too narrow.

So the only wide width is bright blue?! Why can't we get wide widths in black or navy or something else beside "hello, look at me!"

Cushion is great and glad the tongue is finally fixed but the toe box is short (height wise not length). Comparing them to my Torin 5, you can see how much shorter they are. This makes them feel more narrow than they actually are. Super disappointed because I love everything else about them. I ran a mile and couldn't wait to get home to take them off.

I thought these would improve on Torin 6 (which I have and like a lot) but this shoe is too rigid. And if you have even a slight bunion, you're in trouble because they designed the shoe to be narrower just in that area. Had to return!

I was an AVID Torin runner until the tongue debacle ~2 years ago, or what feels like forever. They have FINALLY fixed the razor blade like tongue which is GREAT! However, after having run a 10 miler, a 16 miler, several shorter distances up to 6 miles, walked many miles & have purposefully worn them throughout the entire day (at least 3 times) while at my standup desk, I can unequivocally say that the toe box has been narrowed. I even compared them to an old version I have I'm not talking slightly either. I used to be able to wear the Torins all day and wear them for hundred mile races with ZERO and I mean ZERO toe or foot issues, and no knee issues for that matter with plenty of room for my foot to splay naturally, you know the way Altra is known for Not any more. The Escalante has FAR more toe box room but are not padded in the same way. I was so excited for this new Torin only to be let down, again I ran a slowish 16 miler due to my running buddy having a slight injury, & my knees were on fire afterward as well as my toes. To the point, I thought I was going to lose toenails. I've run 16 miles numerous times in the Escalante with no issues but really need a bit more in the sole for my long runs as I get into the 20+ mile runs. Why, Altra? Why? You keep messing with things that didn't need messing... The wide toe box is what you're known for. I just don't get it Now, I'm stuck with the equivalent of paperweights if you have a narrow foot or don't mind a bit of snugness in your forefoot, these are going to be great. I would've given them 2 stars but the tongue & cushion are great.

I spent hours comparing them to others Altras. I left REI the day before with a men's pair that actually fit. Today at the running store, all the women's had a defect, and the R heel had slippage. #mens

I enjoyed this shoe for running with the extra
Padding I can feel in the forefoot. Not sure if I like how it pulls on my heels both walking and running. Willing to try it again though!

Love the toe box, feel and look, but after purchasing 3 pair that developed holes in less than 6 months, I'm hesitant to purchase another pair of Altras.

After wearing them only for light walking and treadmill work, the quality of the materials is very lacking. Too much polyester which ripped and wore out quickly around the inside heel and outside ankle. And the sole at the heel is also wearing off more than it should for the amount of wear and time. 6 months. Even more disappointing when you add on the price of $150.

I wear these shoes indoors for work and they are comfortable. However, when worn outside on wet pavement, they are dangerous, with no traction at all. I wore them outside in San Antonio on the Riverwalk, with every step sliding.

Less than 150 road miles. Already have holes in multiple places & the logos are peeling off. Going through something similar with my Experience Flows. Big bummer, because the Altra toe box is great.

Despite coming to really love Altras, especially the roominess in the toe box, I was surprised and bummed to find this shoe much tighter across the width of my toe area than the Torin 6, which was a great fit!

I love the torin 7's for their style and cushion. The one problem I have though is that they tear along the top where it folds when I walk. this was my first pair of altras and I have bought more of the same shoe to try to see if it was just the one shoe I bought. turns out it is not just the one shoe. i have had 5 pairs and they have all done the same thing and torn in the same way. my friend has a ton of 7's and has not had a single problem out of them (I don't understand why that is. we both walk a lot in them). I use it for running and weight lifting. I also have the Paradigms and they are ok but I really like the torins better. Altra needs to fix the top tearing and it would improve this shoe and make it tens times better.

These shoes rub outside of my ankles. Too late to return. The guy at store said same thing happened to him but after a while you don't notice it. I still do! It is bothersome. I do like the amount of cushion though.

I was so excited to buy this shoe for the minimal drop and width. I was sized at a shoe store. I tried them out on a stationary bike and my feet fell asleep on the first workout. They are far too tight vertically, there is not enough space in them. No amount of re-lacing fixed this. I returned them and the shoe stores solution was to upsize me into a man's shoe for greater vertical depth. The man's Torin is ndeed wider and has more depth, but is too high in the heel and too large overall.

The lacing comes down too far and puts pressure on my big toe. The toe box is not "high" enough so it puts a lot of pressure on my toes. The cushioning is amazing but won't be able to use these shoes because of how tight it is and how it puts pressure on my toes.

I have another pair of ultras that are perfect. These are too tight across the top front of my foot. I can't wear them too long or they really hurt. They are beautiful and I just wish they were wider. Won't buy again to be honest.

I think they took the man's wide and slapped it with a women's wide. Fit is just like men's. Heal is to high. Hit ankle bone. Sure hate this. Been wearing Torin for years. But not sure on this one. Cushion is better but that's it.

Have been really disappointed lately with what was my favorite brand. This shoe was hard and didn't have much cushion. Also, just like three other pairs, the new ankle support hurts and hubs against the outside of my ankle bone. This pair was literally the third pair/style I tried.

loved this shoe initially. very comfortable in store. right shoe never felt right -- shoe hits my ankle bone during walking stride; inside heel of right shoe developed a large hole. would not re-purchase and am looking for a replacement shoe after just 6 weeks of 5-mile a day walking use.
