I was really excited about this shoe, but sadly I have to return because of how uncomfortable they are. First off, they feel like one size too small. Second, they are very narrow in the toe box which is why I wear Altras in the first place. This shoe gives no room for the toes to splay. I also do not like how it fits in the heel. My heel felt like it wasn't secure and felt like the heel was too short. There definitely isn't any room in the shoe if you wanted to replace the inserts with special orthotics. On the plus side, I could feel the rocker motion which I think would have benefitted my stride if only they fit right. I also like all the reflectors on them.

Another narrow fit. I'm not even sure which Altra shoe falls under the "original foot shape" anymore. It would be nice to have an option like this shoe with the extra cushion, but has the original foot shape. Altra seems to be moving further away from the original foot shape and it's unfortunate.

I'm not a runner so this shoe is great with just a small amount of drop. But I'm finding the same problems I generally find with Altra and fitting my low volume foot. The toe box may have adequate width for toe splay but not enough height in the toe box at the very end and at the bottom lace. Because of the shallowness at the end I try to compensate by buying a longer shoe. Then often other parts of the shoe are too wide. When the bottom lace area is already too snug it compresses the top of my foot and makes my toes numb. There is allowance to tighten the laces but not loosen them - that limits the purpose of the laces... Not sure how much I will alter them. On other shoes I have made a cut through the bottom lace area to free up some constriction (since the laces won't do that. I have also made cuts in the very end of the toe of a shoe to gain more height. I hate to make changes like that on an expensive shoe.

Wanted to love this shoe but it doesn't feel like an Altra to me. Toe box is too restrictive for any kind of push off or toe splay, my feet felt numb at some points. Which I used to feel with Brooks and Nike. This shoe felt tight so I sized up but also felt loose in the heel. Missed the mark, imho.

I got these cus I really liked my hokas but hokas are too narrow. I was excited for these since they have the wider toe box but man is it snug. Almost feels like the hokas even around the toe box. They're super stiff too. Sad. Also they run small. Will be returning. I'd really like to see a road shoe with the original foot shape like the lone peaks. Those things are seriously perfect and I'd run in the them on the road if it didn't wear down the lugs so much.

I recently had intense toe surgery and I need a good athletic shoe with a wide toe box. These are absolutely perfect for my needs and the health of my toes!

These shoes are absolutely wonderful. Best running shoe I have owned. Just the right amount of cushion, drop and room in the toe box. Highly recommend!!

I consider myself a beginner runner, so up until I got the Altra FWDs, I had no idea what a drop in a running shoe was. I have learned so much after using these shoes; I have noticed my strike has changed, my joint pain is incredibly lessened, and I no longer get shin splints.

So I have bought this brand several times. I'm a server and have lupus. My feet are constantly killing me. But I found this pair of shoes at the local Goodwill and bought them for a steal. They were brand new maybe worn once and I am so glad that I found them. New favorite shoe

These shoes are light and comfy. I have run in them in hot weather and they feel as comfortable after 20 miles as they felt at the start. Wish there were more colors.

These are my 2nd pair of Altras and I loved the 1st pair. I have tendon problems in one foot and this brand seems to be the only one that I can walk in. I walk 4 miles every morning, so I NEED good shoes that are cushy inside to absorb the shock, and these are it. The big toe area is made more straight up and down, like barefoot shoes, so your toes aren’t pinched (which can cause bunions). Great shoes.

Finally a shoe that doesn't cramp my toes! I never thought it would be possible. I hope there will be more variations with the 4mm drop too. Best ever.

I have RAVED about altra (especially this shoe) to all my friends and family. I have tried many other brands throughout the years and altra has won my vote! Super comfy, super light, and super awesome!

My daughter decided she wanted to go out for CC at her new high school. Keep in mind she isn't a runner. She's never experienced zero drop so she tried FWD Experience & is loving them for training.

My feet are a bit problematic with old repaired bunions and a couple of hammertoes. Every day I try to get in my 10,000 steps and by the end of my walk with the fabulous large toe box no more tender toes.

I run every day in these shoes! Best ever!!! The month of June I've ran 150+ miles. Shoes have held up nicely. As of right now this is the only pair of shoes I will wear while road running!

I tried these in a running store and loved them. I was a loyal Hoka user until I tried these. All the cushioning I need but not as thick in the sole. I wear them for walking and cardio dance class and they keep me comfortable in both. Love these shoes!

As an ER nurse many hours are spent on my feet. My typical go to are the Escalante and Torin. These are even more comfy! I have a have even started using a pair as daily runners. Love them!

I love Altra shoes because of the spacious toe box. I love the cushioning on this shoe. I am not a runner (I would only runfor my life!)but I am on my feet and walking around all day at work! My feet are still very happy at the end of the day! Altra asks: did we crush it? I say: yes, you crushed it!

I own several Altra. These were so thin and lightweight that I thought there wouldn't be any support. Wrong. They are breathable. The sole is thin but not heavy. I am looking to purchase them in black for everyday work on a concrete floor.

LOVE these! Have been running in them, chasing toddlers in them, running errands all day in them, playing pickle ball in them! They are so comfortable, great support (have suffered horrid shin splints and a knee surgery in past) , and they feel great with my toes/toenails! Running a lot causes my toenails to get so sore, bruised, and ingrown from the narrow toe boxes. Not these! Highly recommend giving them a try. I am a size 9 in tennis shoes and ordered my true size and they fit perfect. Had I gone larger they would've been too big and slipped!

I love these shoes. Initially, I wasn't sure but when I tried them with a lighter-weight toe sock, they felt wonderful. I rotate between these and the Provision 8 for my daily walks/runs. Drop is slight.

I am a nurse and was gifted these shoes by a friend. I have previously dealt with horrible foot pain as I am on my feet for hours at a time, walking 10+ miles per day, and have tried all different types of shoes. These shoes have provided me instant comfort and relief, and support. Absolutely recommend for anyone on their feet all day.
