I recently bought the Beta AR in September and has sat in my closet until recently. I pulled it out of my closet to give it a good test run outside in the heavy rain in PNW. To my disappointment the jacket had some quality issues. There is a spot on the right sleeve that was completely wetter out. It was the size of a slow pitch ball or roughly 6" in diameter. Not only that, I noticed a fabric flaw in the middle of the wetted fabric spot. This dark spot is not only seen on the face fabric but extends through all of the layers to the inside of the jacket. It is also seen as a dark spot. Upon further inspection of the jacket, the DWR coating was not applied evenly over the entire coat. There were spots all over the sleeves, the waste band, front and back, the hood, shoulders, cuffs (inside and out), etc. that were wet after first time use. It is heart breaking to see a premium product turn out to be constructed poorly.
The jacket fits a bit on the larger side and the hood is MASSIVE. Understandingly you can use with helmets. One needs to pull all cordage adjustments almost to their max to make the hood fit without dropping over your eyes. Perhaps a similar model with two options would be beneficial here. One for those who want to use with helmets and ones who do not. Alternatively, perhaps better control over the sizing or draw cord system. The sleeves are also quite long. 0.5"-1" shorter sleeves would have been good in my opinion.
The good:
The jacket held up really well in the heavy rain except for the defective spots mentioned above. The water beaded off the parts that had proper application of the DWR coating. Jacket is quite comfy and I like the colour.

I bought this a couple months ago and it has been the perfect jacket for my mountaineering adventures. Now, no weather can stop me from summiting my goals.

This jacket I use year round. City to mountain. I think it is the best shell jacket's Arcteryx sells if you live in a cold-warm climate and plan to use the jacket for everything from running errands and city walking to snowboarding and going for a hike. The thicker material is much better for below zero climates. If you live in a place that doesn't get cold. The Beta LT might be a better jacket.

Beta All Round is my go-to piece for backpacking trips and mountain pursuits. It strikes the perfect balance between weight, pack size and protection. The 80D fabric on the shoulders makes it a good option for heavier packs. It has a wider fit than my other Arc'teryx shells making it a good choice for layering during the winter months.

The Beta AR has quickly become my go-to jacket for both outdoor adventures and everyday wear. It's hands down the perfect jacket for rainy runsI stay completely dry, and it does an amazing job of trapping body heat when needed. If I start to overheat, the pit zips provide just the right amount of ventilation to keep me comfortable. At first, I wasn't sure how often I'd actually wear it, but its versatility has completely won me over. The adjustable sleeve cuffs and hem make it easy to customize the fit, whether I'm layering up for the outdoors or throwing it on as an extra layer for casual wear. I find myself reaching for it all the time!

The Beta AR jacket is great for all around activities and for leisure! The fit is very comfortable and with a mid layer its good for winter condition so usefull for 3 seasons! I love the colour Navy (black sapphire. Its light but windproof and waterproof. I bought a Nuclei jacket also to wear as a mid layer and its very warm despite being very light and comfortable. Lots of pockets and opening that are well positioned! The quality of the material is outstanding and its a very stylish design.

Bought this jacket a few weeks ago and it fits so well along with keeping the wind and rain out. The more you wear it the better it seems to fit to your body. Only issue I have is the arms seem to be a touch too long, even for someone with slightly longer arms than most!
Recommend this jacket for most things but perfect for hiking.

Bought over the summer for the wet. This is a pretty solid jacket. I fit an XS but bought an S for room to layer in the colder months. That was a good choice. Just about everything is solid on the jacket, including all pockets and zips. Hood fits over a variety of head accessories. There's just one issue though. Every time I wear the jacket in serious rain, the cuffs wet out. I don't know what the underlying cause is; I've cinched them down pretty tightly. It's really disappointing since it's uncomfortable, and I was hoping a reconditioning (wash + DWR) would take care of it; sadly not. Maybe you (Arc'teryx) can look into it? I've tried to see if others have had this experience as well, but haven't found much online.

This is my go to jacket for everything from dog walks, quick trips to the store and days skiing on the hills. Super versatile, light weight and when zipped super insulating and warm. I use vents often for some breathability, but close them up and stay warm and toasty for my son's hockey games.

Great jacket! Sized a bit smaller than expected, but that's another sign for me to lose a few inches! Durability of fabric looks like it'll hold up well to weather and wear, but only time will tell. The driving factor for buying are the colorslove this combination of Electra/Soulsonic!

Bought this jacket to replace my 20 year old Theta. Same quality (and I hope durability), but much lighter.
I went back and forth between this and the beta sl. Ultimately, I like the durable feel of the GT pro without being too "crunchy" or stiff.

The Beta AR is for regular use, especially that it is a year round use Product. Most frequently used, when it is rainy or snowy weather.I love it because it is well made, packable and the color is amazing.I get noticed and complimented when I wear it.I had the older one for almost 12 years and I am very grateful that I was given a Replacement, after the first one was near the end of its useful life.Thank you .

Too early to speak about its durability for first impression is very good; comfortable, light yet durable. Zips are smooth and don't "stick" like some other waterproof zips.
I've used this for a short trip in the mountains and the jacket was perfect for me with a baselayer underneath. Temp was around 0 degrees Celcius. Without a loaded backpack I'd probably add another layer to keep warm. I used this in combination with the Beta pants and also there, one baselayer.

i have been buying Arc'teryx ski clothes for decades and have come to expect outstanding performance and longevity. I bought this jacket with the confidence that these attributes would continue - and they have. You only have to look at the outstanding suit that CMH gives for 1 Million feet to realize that Arc'teryx means highest quality. My only complaint is that I wish my arms were longer.

Just got this this season, was super stoked to try it out for skiing, and replace my north face shell. I was super impressed with the way it performed on the mountain, and it will 100% be my go to for a long time. It also does well with casual wear, wore it on a rainy day in the city and was equally comfortable.

My go-to snow sports jacket for 20 years. This thing has skied, camped, hiked, snowshoed, ice-fished, etc, etc with me. Finally, the interior seam tape is delaminating. What a run. Attaching photosThis classic has not changed much!

I've been an avid fan of Arc'teryx since 2016, and my Beta Jacket has been my trusted companion for over 7 years, accompanying me on countless mountain biking, kayaking, adventure motorcycling, skiing, and climbing trips. The versatility of this jacket is second to noneit has held up through extreme conditions, various terrains, and multiple accidents without showing any signs of wear or damage. It has truly proven its toughness in every sport I've thrown at it.
What truly sets Arc'teryx apart, however, is their outstanding customer service. After a zipper malfunction, I reached out to the company, and they didn't hesitate to step up and replace the jacket, ensuring that I was taken care of and that I could continue enjoying the brand's high-quality gear.
The Beta Jacket's durability, comfort, and performance in all conditions make it an absolute essential in my gear collection. Whether I'm riding through a downpour or navigating rocky mountain paths, this jacket always performs. Arc'teryx has earned my trust, not just with their products, but with their commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Highly recommend to anyone seeking reliable, top-of-the-line outdoor gear!
