I'm struggling a bit with my Cascadia 17 shoes. They fit well (as do most Brooks shoes). My problem is that I'm experiencing a lot of big toe and ball of foot pain and I suspect it is from the 8mm toe drop. I previously had the Caldera 5 shoes and LOVED them. But the newer versions have such thick soles and increased toe drop that I haven't given them a try. The Cascadia 17 seemed good at first and I didn't realize they have such a significant toe-drop until I starting researching my toe pain today. (It reminds me of a pair of On Cloudsurfer shoes that caused the same pain). Now I'm paying the price on my trail runs. I'm considering sending them back.

I love Brooks, and have many pairs, but the Cascadia 17 hurts me. I only wear them 2 times a week for about an hour, but they have, become too painful to continue wearing.
The shape of the heel/back is too rounded and rigid. This area rubs my lower Achilles tendon, and has caused me to develop a painful lump. This issue increases with each wear, and I can no longer bear to wear these sneakers.
I am thankfully able to return with Brooks generous return policy.
Yet I am sad to do this because I love every other aspect of these sneakers.

Wide toe box, great traction and light weight. Perfect for hiking or trail running. A little less medial arch support than the adrenalines but by far the best shoe Ive worn hiking. Colors look good too. Much more attractive than a normal hiking shoe.

For me, these shoes have been redesigned to be too cushioned. I packed them on a running tour and within a day of walking around town before the tour began, I had the nagging feeling of tendons stretching in my feet and ankles that harkened soft-tissue issues. I've been running in the Cascadia 16 for as long as they've been available. I need the firmer footbed, especially around the heel area.

Disappointing. I have been a Cascadia die-hard for several years and several versions, and the 17 feels like an unwelcome departure from previous designs. The midsoles are stacked too high for my preference, and whatever is gained in traction is lost in feel and responsiveness. I feel like I'm guessing with every foot strikes and sometimes I guess wrong in these Staypuf Marshmallow Man shoes. Version 15 felt like peak Cascadia, and they've been going downhill (pardon the pun) ever since.

I wore them last weekend for an easy trail hike and a then a three mile trail run. They didnt feel too clunky for the hike and they had great traction on a moderate rocky and high incline run.

I tried what the shoe finder stated I needed. I loved the color; white, grey and black camo. My feet hurt after wearing them for a period of about 12 hours straight. I returned them the next day.
I, then, ordered a pair of Ghost 15. I love them, my feet dont hurt after a long day. I wearing them from the time I get up in the morning until I go to sleep.

I have run in Cascadia for years. I loved them. The 17 however made my right foot numb on the top of foot and eventually my heel started hurting. I read your return policy. I bought at Fairhaven runners in Bellingham and they took back no questions asked. And they were very muddy. I just ordered 2 pairs of the 16.

I bought these for trail runs and it is the first time Ive worn Cascadia. I bought them in wide because wide shoes have been helping me lately with an issue where my foot goes numb during my run. I wore these for an ultra in December and they were amazing! The hard covering around the toe area protected my feet from all the rocks and roots during that race. Very comfortable and they look great.

Super bummed! I got the wides because I have the Glycerins GTS 20 in a wide and they fit nice but they have too much tilt in the shoe and push my to the outsides of my feet and cause a lot of pain. And are not meant for wet conditions, fell really bad wearing them on a walk on sidewalks after a rain. So I picked these out to have to wear for anything outside and or rain related. The wides were so tight across the top of my foot I wouldve hated to see how a regular fit. I was able to wear both in the glycerin GTS 20 just wanted the extra toe room. This shoe has none. So cramped inside. I just wore them from the living room to the kitchen and they were soo stiff and clunky as well. I read a lot of mixed reviews so I decided to try them myself. I shouldve listened to the reviews that were tight across the toe because they were telling the truth! I ended up finding Altras and they are amazing! Have a nice toe box and don fit sloppy. I also found with the glycerin GTS that my foot slid around too much in the shoe in a wide. I wont being buying anymore brooks until they come out with a better toe box in there shoe

Love the pattern and style of this shoe. Please make more of cool styles that we can wear with regular clothing!!!! I have small ankles and feet for a tall 58 woman and these hold me in. I run (or jog) on very treacherous, hilly, too many roots and rocky trails. Ive never twisted my ankles in Cascadia. Ive twisted my ankles and broke one in two places wearing other brands. Im buying another pair of this combat style (black and white) to wear with street clothes. Ive been a runner for like 40 years and keep coming back to Brooks.

I've bought this size before and wow, not sure what the problem is but my feet have never felt worse. My heel doesn't stay in the bed and my toes pound into the top of the shoe. Sorry going back to my GTXs. Wish wish wish there was more variety in the wide shoes offered by Brooks, why should people with average sizes get all the fun.

So disappointed. Im a 40s woman, 130 lbs. size 7.0, neutral, 50+ miles per week off road but not rugged trails, some pavement. These shoes were so hard to get used to and the soles feel hard and rigged. I was hoping for a cushioned runthat is not these shoes. In defense, Ive never found a trail shoe that Ive liked. I had to put different insoles in just to wear them to work. I wear ghosts 14 & 15, which I love but wanted a more cushioned sole.
The support is ok, traction is excellent, construction will hold up well.

I love my Cascadias. I have both the waterproof and the regular. We have rugged tails that we hike in our area. I dont feel the rocks through the souls and I have great traction for the loose stuff on downhills. Ive always worn hiking boots, but now Im hooked on my Cascadias.
