The fabric does not have the body of the look-alike shirt I purchased about 5 years ago. But this top is worth owning regardless.

The knit is a nice weight, but the neckline of this shirt is too wide. I had to exchange the Medium for a Small, but still the neckline is wider than I like, even for a boatneck. The fit is very generous and the off shoulder sleeves are attractive. Overall, am glad that LLBean revived this shirt.

I ordered a Small. It's very large on top but fits around my hips nicely. I've had many small tops from Bean but none ever fit like this. The material Is heavier than I expected.

I had one long ago. I like the fabric. Great workmanship. I ordered two different colors. Blue with red-orange stripes is true to photo. Goes with jeans, skirt in many colors. The second was supposed to be dark red-orange with blue stripes. I checked the catalogue photo and the online photo. Reality did not come close. It is a faded red/orange, still useful it not what I expected. I am rarely disappointed by LLBean, but this time I was.

This did not fit like the white one I ordered at the same time and same size. It has a drop sleeve style and wider neck opening. Seems a little wider than white one also. Trying to add comparison photos but this won't let me.

It's a nice shirt for a bigger person but the extra small was much too big for me. I like boxy shirts, but this was beyond boxy. It was just huge.

I bought this top as a replacement for one similar purchased probably over ten years ago. It was similar but not the dropped shoulders or boxy fit. I bought my usual size small, but it fit like a tent, so I had to send it back.

Nice looking top, but the sizing has changed. I have worn ll bean large tops for years--but this was too big, so had to return it. In its place ordered something totally different.

This is a beautiful, well-made top. I wasn't prepared, however, for how big it is. Friends have said it is a new style: box top. I'm not accustomed to the style. It should have been noted in the description.

I really wanted to love this top. I love the look of it. But when I put it on, it was very boxy and not at all flattering. I'm afraid getting it in a smaller size would make it too short. Maybe it's just not the right look for an apple body shape? Feeling bummed it didn't work for me. Had to return it.

Cute shirt for the most part. The neckline was a loose "boatneck" not a traditional "boatneck" in my opinion. Also, LLBean makes some of their cutest tshirts way too short. I don't like to raise my arms and show my midriff which is getting to be more the norm rather than the exception. Fabric was nice, stripes nicely matched but the shirt didn't work for me. I returned it.

The top is OK. I probably should have returned it but kept it. I think it looks better online than in person.

I wish they had cut this wide tee shorter. It's cut too big. I was very glad they put a drop shoulder on an old favorite. I have the original style in every color and still wear them. This neck is wide, the body is wide. If you buy it, go a size smaller, at least. I think it would be better if they'd used Signature, trendier styling and cut.

Nice shirt with the traditional mariner fabric and design but a regular medium which I've ordered for years to fit over a lightweight tee was big enough to fit my husband. I sent it back and asked for a replacement in small. Hopefully the small will fit properly.

Over the years I've purchased a number of these 'French Fisherman's Shirts" from LLBean. I wear them all the time. They are cotton, nice and heavy with a slight fit at the waist. They've changed and I am disappointed. This is a different knit, still heavy, but not as much and it's very boxy. Also, the neck finish is less refined. I thought about returning them, but they are heavier than I see from anyone else, so I will keep and wear them. Probably will take in the middle a bit because they are too loose.

I was excited to order and receive this top because a friend recommended it. I was happy with the quality of the fabric and it's washability but disappointed that the fit was so boxy. I think I ordered a newer version of her top because mine was much shorter in length. Please bring back the longer, more fitted version.

It was not as shown, style was completely different

I love the fabric and the neckline. I love a stripe. I wish it were a slightly more fitted shape. It's boxy and roomy, which is what the description says. It doesn't look bad, but I would prefer a slightly more streamlined fit. I like a breton stripe because it seems to bridge the transition from comfort to a more put-together but still casual look and the extra volume in this shirt keeps it more in the lounging category. The fabric is soft and has some weight to it, but not super-heavy.

As others have said, I thought this shirt would be a suitable replacement for the French Sailor's shirts I purchased many times in the past. Instead, it's wider and shorter. Please, please, please bring back the original! I promise to buy it in every color!

I liked the weight of the fabric, but a boat neck is not a flattering style on me. So back it went.

Yuck! Cannot understand the sizing and weave of this "cotton" t-shirt! The feel and the look was almost cheap..I thought! If it was washed it would draw up terribly. I've sewn for over 4-years, and I'd never buy a cotton like this to make a shirt! What's happening to LLBeans quality? I'm a 12/14 and the large swallowed me whole and made me look like a whale! Not only that, but I paid over $60.00 by the time shipping and tax was added and then to send it back, they took $6.50. What a waste! It was for a trip! Giving it a 3 is being nice.

It runs big and not flattering on me with the horizontal stripes

I love LL Bean quality and these tees are made of a substantial fabric so it won't hug the spots that we don't want shown. The stripes are really flattering. I'm 5'2" tall and the shirt hit me about 4 inches below the waist which is shorter than I like. The cut is quite boxy and was not flattering on me.

I have had several original French Sailor boatneck shirts from L.L. Bean in the past. I believe this shirt is based on the original design, which I'm assuming is no longer available. The fabric is soft and thick, but the design is boxy and not as flattering as the original.
