The fit is perfect. In tennis shoes I wear 8 1/2 I had to size up to a 9 but I will wear thicker socks with these boots. I didnt have to break these in. So comfortable day one. Love them.

I bought this in a size 8 as Im normally that size in other shoes and boots. It fits length wise, but is very tight on the sides of your foot. Kind of like the claw machine from Toy Story but not in a good way - its just relentlessly squeezing the sides of your feet from the moment you get your foot in there to the moment you take them off. Im not a wide in any type of shoes either. Im hoping they stretch with wear, because they are really cute (and they do say pain is beauty) so will hopefully be able to update this review in the future. (Plus, they take the shipping cost out of your return so its not free, and I just spent so much money on these bad boys I dont want to play a priced game of shoe tag).

This item looks rather juvenile and cheap in person compared to online. The seam, toe shape, and stiffness of the upper are at odds with the price tag. True to size, I returned this product (be warned, shipping is charged to the customer, unconventionally).

These boots are gorgeous, high quality and very comfortable. However, I am 5'3" and 112 lb, and wear a 7, and these looked HUGE on me. I get it, they are a bit chunky (they are supposed to be) but unfortunately that didn't work on my frame. I looked as if I was wearing my husband's boots or something...

These looked very nice, but I could not get them onto my foot. It was just impossible to slide my foot in.

The shoe itself is nice but Zappos sent me a shoe that was worn. Creases and lint and even the soles were worn.

Firstly the good... the boot is gorgeous. Love the style so much. Looks great on and even better than online. The bad... Plain and simple, the boots are ill-fitting. Maybe just me, but probably not. While the insole padding is nice and thick, this is the only plus for comfort. Like others reviewers have said, the heel slides up and down every step you take. They are narrow in the heel from left to right but somehow still manage to slide a lot making the sides of both heels rub as they slide. Blister waiting to happen (I have narrow heels for reference). Also as other have said, they do fit a bit narrow, esp in toes. This is totally fine for my foot, but if you are on the wider side of a medium width, I'd say could likely fit tight. Also, the overall feel is just not comfortable because for my foot, there is zero arch support so all of my weight sits right on the ball of my foot. Would never be able to walk around with these all day. I could probably spend some money on a nice higher arch insole and throw it in, but for the $190 price point, I'm not willing to do that. I have a medium to higher arch so maybe if you have a flatter foot these boots would work for you. Sad to have to return.

I bought these for a trip to NYC and to have a bit of heel while having relative comfortable shoes. I failed to break them in and faired pretty well, but after full days, they did start to hurt but only after walking for 5-8 miles a day. They were a bit more loose than I expected even with fairly thick socks. I usually wear a 5, but went a half size because I would be wearing with thick socks.

These felt like they would be a very comfortable shoe for the right foot. These were too tight in the toe box area and too loose in the ankle.

I wanted to love these, but they were a little to big. Oddly, the other pair of Sorels I ordered in the exact same size fit perfectly.

These were really uncomfortable. I’d suggest sizing up a half size, but not sure that would solve it.

I bought my usual "Sorel" size 7.5 and these were too tight in the toe box with a thin sock. Also, the Bleached Ceramic/Gum was not all one color. The design actually makes the off-white/cream look like its speckled with tan flecks. I wanted a solid color. Returned.

These boots feel a bit clunky, and for me, they felt too narrow across the ball of the foot and too loose in the ankle. I desperately wanted them to be comfortable and a go to shoe for me. They feel smaller than another pair of sorrels I have. :( had to return. Great looking boots though with style you can’t beat

They look great, but something about the footbed means too much stress and not enough support on the ball of the foot. I have to be careful to wear them when I know I won't have to walk too much. I'm in NYC so those are unusual days

I read through these reviews and I cannot speak to the narrow width issue as I have pretty neutral width feet. However, I do have high arches and the weight of this boot and how stiff they are made walking around in them pretty dang painful. I wore them for a Nashville night out and my knees were aching. I wore my Nike neutral support running shoes the next evening and was absolutely fine. I figured they needed to break in, but I will speak to all my deteriorating knee/high arch ladies. These are cute. But not cute enough to be this heavy, clunky, and unsupportive.

I had high hopes for the Sorel Joan boots, especially given my positive experience with another pair of Sorel wedge boots. Unfortunately, these boots fell short of expectations. First and foremost, the comfort level of these boots is a major disappointment. Unlike my other Sorel boots that provide a stable and soft landing for my feet, the Joan boots lack that crucial comfort. The absence of a softer insole makes the inside of the sole feel unforgiving, leaving much to be desired in terms of overall comfort. My feet hurt when I wear them, and then they hurt the next day from wearing them the day before. Another peculiar issue I encountered was the significant difference in fit between the left and right boots. The right boot fits bigger, almost half a size larger, and strangely seems to pitch outward rather than being centered. This inconsistency in sizing and alignment is not only perplexing but also affects the overall comfort of the boots. Despite these drawbacks, there are some positives to note. The grip provided by the boots while walking in snow is excellent, which is crucial for navigating winter conditions, especially in a place like South Dakota. However, the lack of comfort overshadow this positive aspect. The most disheartening aspect of my experience is that once these boots are worn outside, returning or exchanging them becomes challenging. This limitation leaves me feeling stuck with boots that fail to meet my expectations, especially considering their intended use for work fashion and braving very cold winters. In conclusion, the Sorel Joan boots have left me with mixed feelings. While the traction in snowy conditions is commendable, the discomfort, and inconsistent fit are significant drawbacks that make it difficult to wholeheartedly recommend these boots.

They were about a 1/2 size larger than my usual size, 9M, and they felt wider. They also felt really heavy.

Cute boots but so uncomfortable I sent them back immediately. The top cuff rubs against your shin and is not soft. Good looks but Poor design.

They were very cute and well made but way too tight around the top part of my feet, went with a half size larger than usual and never not had a shoe fit by doing that. Had to return.
