The older models of this shoe and the Bonita 7 were so much better. New models are not plush cushion and the toe box is smallar

I run On the tread two days a week for 30-45 minutes at a time. One month in, the insole has friction, giving me a blister.

I called Hoka and they said this is a plush shoe with the new H frame and that it should feel similar to the ARAHI 6 which they disconntinued.
sole is way too hard - not sure what makes it plush which is supposedly the softest cushion of all offered in Hoka shoes. The new H frame does not work for me. They should should NOT discontinue the J frame. Very disappointed in this shoe. It's like pulling teeth getting anyone at customer service at Hoka that has any expertise at all.
A few years back they had very knowledgeable employees - not the case anymore. The person that recommended the Gaviota 5 was terrific in her knowledge and promised that if the Gaviota did not work she would easily be reached by email and work with me until we found the shoe best comfortable for my feet. She sounded super sincere and knows all the shoes over many years going back. Well lots of emails and all of a sudden she is not available and back to the run around. I have been wearing hokas since 2016 24/7 and have a toe joint issue so super disappointed that I can't get the service I need
I'd also recommend:
have no idea and wish someone could tell me where to find a shoe similar to the Arahi 6

The shoes overall feel comfortable, but there is a constant sensation in the right shoe as though there's a foreign object pressing against just above the center of my foot. I've checked the shoe and my socks multiple times but cannot find any bumps or objects that would cause this feeling, but it's immediately obvious every time I put the shoe on. This was not a thing with my last pair of Hokas and it is so consistent/obvious that it creates an annoying discomfort and distracts my focus.
The right shoe also feels like it's constantly in danger of slipping down my ankle; the left does not have this problem.
I'll be returning these shoes.

While they are comfortable new, I'm disappointed that after only a month of use (mostly running), the sponginess is gone. It's like running on concrete. Also, they're advertised for supination. I noticed no correction at all. They are good for walking but not running. I'll stick with my ASICS NOVABLAST 5.

I loved these shoes when I purchased them. After a month of wearing them the bottom is falling apart. Expected way more for a shoe that was well rated and cost almost 200 dollars. Checked into the warranty and having to mail the shoes back for evaluation is impossible now since I spent the money and don't really have the money to replace them. So I am stuck with a shoe I'll have to reglue the sole to myself.

Aesthetically these are my favorite Hokas, but out of the several styles of Hokas I have purchased, they are the least comfortable by far. They chafe my inner foot close to the heel so much that I have had to stop wearing them. I purchased they gray with blue trim, so maybe the other colors are less chafing in this style.

My feet suck, and it's hard for me to find something that works very well. These aren't cutting it and they are noisy to walk in. I'm sending them back and trying something else. I truly appreciate Hoka's return policy and will try a different model.

So hard and rolled my foot inward. I was surprised and disappointed since a podiatrist recommended Hokas.

I bought these shoes sept 9 2024 as far as comfort they are good and I really do like the shoe the only problem I have is I'm barley at 6 months of wearing the shoes and the back part of the shoe is always wore out and I have worn other shoes for a year over a year and that does not happen which is why I give it a two star if I'm going to play $100 plus for some shoes I expect the quality of the shoe to at least last a year or a little over a year

I purchased my first pair of Hoka Gaviota walking shoes about three years ago and loved them. The last two pair I ordered appear to be wide, although they are a size 8B. They look exceptionally large and make my feet look exceptionally large. No longer happy with my Hoka walking shoes.

Shoe was way too wide and as a result felt like it gave me no support. Also contributed to making the shoe look very unattractive

I loved the previous version of these shoes (4), but these 5's are not the same! Not at all the same support for my foot! My heel slid around! I ended up not being able yo wear these!

I have an ankle injury, which is causing great pain and my sports medicine doctor recommended three different sneakers, this being one of them. I've been wearing Asics since this injury which were not on his list, but are the most comfortable sneakers in cushion and support. I thought these would measure up if not exceed the Asics. They don't! I wanted to love them. They fit like a dream and are super cute. They offer the stability I need but not the cushion. As you can see, I'm doing a side-by-side with my asics and these are so painful. They're going back, sadly. If you don't have foot issues, these are amazing. If you do have foot pain and need extra cushion, these probably won't work for you

I really wanted to love this shoe. I've been searching for a long time. When I first received them and put them on I thought my search was over. They felt great until I started walking. They still felt great but the SQUEAK!!! I gave the benefit of the doubt and thought, that's just because they're new and it'll wear off. No such luck; even after wearing for a couple of weeks, the squeak is not subsiding. They're still just as loud as when I first received them. I'm returning them so the search continues.

I purchased Bondi 8, wore them maybe 8 times in a 10 mth period, got them dirty, so I hand scrubbed them and after 2 days, I threw them in the dryer for maybe 4 minutes to get them completely dry, when I retrieved them there was this gapping hole/bubble in the sole on the outside of the right shoe (toe box area). It's like the outside of the shoe was a thin piece of rubber. I paid thirty dollars postage to return the shoes as defective only to hear back 28 days later that they determined this was from normal wear and tear! For the price Hoka charges they should warranty a defect of this nature. I am so disappointed and afraid of these high dollar shoes that have no warranty! Beware

This is not the HOKA shoe I remembered from prior purchases. Inside the sole bed was loosely glued down and since it was protruding into the foot bed caused some instant discomfort. I returned them not being willing to pay such a high price to "maybe" have it correct itself. Unfortunate. In addition the rubber on the outside of the shoe, being so high, caused stress on the outside of the foot not allowing it to move as the rest of the mesh on the shoe.

I wanted so bad to like these. I have now tried 4 different styles to replace my Clifton 8. The clifton 9s are not the same at all., This is my 4th and last try with Hoka. I am sad but it is just a reality. I wish they never changed the Hoka 8. These are too wide. I never thought I would say that, but they are.

Had Gaviota 4 loved them. Ordered a pair of fives same size.
Although they look the same the canvas in toe box on these is super tight and no give. Maybe because sole is so thick? There is no give, both big toes are compressed when walking or running. Did two walks and had severe pain in both big toes. Cannot wear them will be giving them away. Size is up 1/2 which is same as the 4’s.
But fit Not at all the same as Gaviota 4.
Make sure you try these on before buying.

Hoka, please stop with the boring pale colors in 2024 and 2025! Give us options like sandstone and olive bronze and dark grey and deep red and sunset orange and lime green. You would sell a lot more Gaviotas for women. Even the men's Gaviota has Barley, a much better color option. Thank you. The pale fabrics quickly get dirty from my everyday use and then they look ratty and cheap.

I have plantar fasciitis and a high arch, so good support is very important to me. My DO suggested Hokas for their support and comfort. This is my first pair and due to also having bunions, I had to go with the wide width of the Gaviota 5. They are too wide and look foolish, like clown shoes. My feet swim in them, and I have opted to wear thick socks to take up the extra space. They are comfortable until late in the day. At that point, my feet hurt so badly they throb and I can’t them off fast enough. I am also disappointed in how poorly they are wearing. The soles are already breaking down and cracking and the fabric is starting to pill and fray around the toe box. I’ve only owned them less than two months. I would think a shoe at this price point would wear longer when they are used for daily comfort and activities; I’m not runner, just a person doing everyday activities and looking for a supportive and reasonably comfortable shoe. I really wanted to like these shoes, but they have been an expensive disappointment.
