Shoes were shipped from Amazon and not Zappos. Sneakers were used and dirty with dog hair and dirt on bottom of sole.

I have been buying these for years as a work shoe in healthcare and they have been amazing. Not sure what happened with the 5's but they are way too wide and look and feel like clown shoes. I sadly had to return and will be shopping elsewhere. Very disappointing.

I really wanted to love these shoes. My son wore Hokas for cross country training from 2013-2016 and raved about how comfortable and cushioned they were. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I bought this pair of Hoka Gaviota 5 shoes specifically for a trip to Europe. My son promised we would walk around 28,000 steps per day. Sadly, these shoes have a hard insole and my legs and feet had exhaustion and pain at the end of every single day. These were the only shoes I had to walk in, so I skipped some sites that required more walking, and we took advantage of public transportation as much as possible.

This shoe has a horribly uncomfortable piece of plastic right across the top of the upper directly over the metatarsal arch, right where my bunion is. And directly inside the shoe on the opposite side of that is a sharp, hard edge of something that rubs directly on that area. So uncomfortable. i tried lacing it different ways, but the plastic outside and the hard edge inside was not stretchy or able to be mitigated in any way. Just terrible. Felt very cheaply made. Can’t believe this is a Hoka for $180. Extremely disappointed. I have worn Hokas for over a decade and they have been the only shoe i could wear. Will try the Bondi, the style that has worked for me before.

I've only been wearing my Gaviota's for the last 3 months and already the back of the heel is disintegrating along with the shoe separating on the sides. I wear them on 3 mile walks about 3 times a week and already they are falling apart. I previously bought Bondi's and although they are both comfortable shoes, I had the same issue with the back of the shoe giving way to the plastic shell underneath. I love the comfort of Hoka's but having to purchase several (almost $200 pairs) a year just for them to fall apart after a few months of wear is ridiculous.

I've been wearing these for a couple weeks and I feel no difference than ASICS.

I have been purchasing Gaviota for years. I know I wear a size 9 ALWAYS but the Gaviota are running BIG. The style is totally different. The front of the shoe is wide(box toe) my foot is narrow so the Gaviota 5 makes me look like I'm wearing CLOWN shoes. I DO NOT like the new style go back the original like Gaviota 3

My favorite Hoka shoes are the Gaviota 4s. I recommend them to everyone. I have two pair that I love. I wanted to replace one pair so I bought the Gaviota 5s. Unfortunately, everything about this shoe has changed. I wore the 5s for two days and both my feet and ankles were in pain. I had no choice but to return these. I don't understand why HOKA would make such drastic changes to a shoe. Create a new style rather than changing up the design of a current shoe!

These shoes are nothing like previous models. They are wider, looser and utterly clownish in appearance. There are very few shoes my arthritic feet are happy in and I was looking for a new pair in a new color for spring. These were returned. Hoka you have let me down.

I was excited about this as I'm a huge Bondi 8 fan. I was excited for maybe a little better performance with the same cushy feel. I was extremely bummed when I got the shoes and they fit so big! It's not even that I could exchange for a size down, the toe area is huge and I didn't even select a wide!

This shoe has been great until this upgrade. When I put it on my small size 7 looked like a clowns feet. I had to pull the strings tight to run. Still seemed too large so I measured it the top was an inch larger than the prior version. Very disappointing cause there's only two support options.

I have been wearing my Gavota 3s for too long and wanted to replace them. I was so very surprised by how wide this version is. So wide that tighter lacing wasn't an option. Don't know what's going on with the sizing. I purchased and kept the Clifton 9 instead.

The Gaviota looks much wider than the Gaviota 4. Looks like clown shoes on me. Had to return

I loved the Graviota 4 but this 5 is totally different. Not as cushiony, toe area floppy wide like clown shoes. I didn't make it out the house with these. After walking inside for a couple of hours my knees hurt. The arch and stability is off not balanced like the fours were. I don't want to change brands as I have been wearing Hoka for years but it seems the new versions are not as good as the old. I have Clinton's, multiple versions of the Bondi and each new one is not an improvement.

I only buy Hoka and this is the first time I'm completely disappointed. Almost $200 and they make my feet hurt. No support, no cushion. Horrible shoes.

I had hoped the stability of the stiff outer sole would still be comfortable with high amount of plush on the insole that this shoe was described as having, but I felt only extreme firmness.
Also, it bears mentionig that I feel a need to size up by half or a whole size in Hoka sneakers.

I was disappointed after buying four pairs of the Gaviota 4 to find that Gaviota 5 B width is more like a wide D width. They are way too wide for a slender foot.

Returning shoes. Something was spilled on the top of both shoes near the laces. It looks like mold or some sort of liquid. There was a hair in the box.

I bought these for my husband as a Christmas gift. Until now, he hasn't been able to find shoes that don't make his back and hips hurt. He's thrilled with these and wears them all the time!
