I have terrible problems with my left arch support as well as other issues. I wore these for a few hours. My right foot was very comfortable. But my left foot at the arch was very painful.

These didn't work for me. My heel slipped on the right; no matter how tight i did the laces. Might have one foot smaller than the other. I thought they'd be perfect since reviews said the toe box was wide. I ordered my regular size 7 1/2. I need a heel that is raised up and snugger like the Hoka Challenger 7 that I purchased first in a 7 1/2 wide. This Gaviota is more stable than the Challenger 7 but I am keeping the Challenger 7 and sending these back. My back hurt after wearing the Challenger 7's the first day on the treadmill for 20 min. and thought they were not going to work. However, I tried the Challenger a second time and have been walking in the stores and the hallways in my apartment building and no more back ache. Maybe my body just needed to adjust to them which it apparently did fairly quickly. HOpe my review helps. If you have problems with heal slippage, this may not be the best, who knows? Not a fit for my feet.

My first pair of Hokas. They are nice shoes but not worth the money. Average fit and comfort. Too expensive for me.

I've had 3 pairs of these Hokas.
All were very comfortable.
But all 3 pairs have a squeak to them after about 6 to 8 weeks.
I thought it was a fluke on the 1st pair, but nope 2nd and 3rd did it too.
Great light and comfortable shoes, but I can't deal with the squeak!

I love these shoes, but they did not seem to hold up as well as other pairs I have purchased.

Well built and liked the fit but it just wasn't right for me.
After having surgeries and other issues I needed more cush in ball of my feet. The heel was great but not so much elsewhere.

I have worn Gaviota’s for years and I so wanted to love these shoes. Though the material was great, the wide toe and uncomfortable new H sole was offputting. I ended up getting Gaviota 4 once again as these 5’s were just not great.
I'd also recommend:
Gaviota 4!!!

May be good for others but not for me. My calves tighten and ache when I wear them. Also, my feet feel tired after wearing them. Not sure if they are lacking enough support or what. I've been trying to make them work but don't think I will be able to do so.

While I appreciate Hoka footwear, I regret to report a defect in a recently purchased pair. The shoes are causing unacceptable rubbing on the top of my foot, which is unexpected given their cost.

Tried these out recently but did not enjoy. I have mostly Bondi 8's and 7's and love those. Saw the colors on these Giovata's and thought I'll try them. They hit very differently than the Bondi's and I don't like it. They also run bigger than the Bondi's. Much less plush. I will keep them for walking as I do like the colors.

Nice shoe, funny fit. Too bad, must return. Nice that Hoka makes many different styles and Zappos makes it easy to try more than one.

The grips on the bottoms of the shoes are starting to peel off. So they drag the ground when I walk. I've only had them for 4 months, mainly wear them inside the hospital. For as much as we pay for these shoes, they should last at least a solid year. This was my first pair of Hokas, and I was excited but now I'm worried they aren't reliable.

Love the cushioning in this shoe and how the heel cup isn't the typical high cup seen on most sneakers now. And the toe area - BEST EVER! So much width in a regular width shoe! New Balance used to offer this but no more and I've been searching and searching for a proper replacement. I was thrilled to have finally found this in the Gaviota. However, and it's a big HOWEVER, the stability aspect of this shoe is murder on my feet. I'm so disappointed! Please, please Hoka, make a neutral version of this shoe!!

I ordered these for work. I'm a nurse and have been wearing Bondi 8's last several years. Bondi 8 was the best shoe I've worn in my 22 years of nursing. My knees, feet/ankles and hips gave me no problems. I wore these 1 day and I ached all over. I wouldn't recommend if you're in the medical field. Gina is a great shoe, I just wouldn't recommend for those who are on their feet constantly.

I like this product a lot and I am experiencing less pain however my big toes have rubbed holes in both pairs I have. I added toe protectors but they look rough.

I really liked the previous version of the Gaviota shoe. The new one laces differently and has a diiferent outer sole. It's okay, I will keep the shoes, but it will take some time to get used to them.

As a Bondi7 owner I had high hopes. Still my favorite shoe of all time. Fits amazing.
These Gaviota 5s had some issues right out of the box (no fault of Zappos!). In fact, I love Zappos because they are so easy to do business with. Thank you for always being on top of things.
Had to exchange these Gaviotas because the sizing was off and ended up keeping the bigger size because the regular size I wear was a little short. These have the biggest toe box ever. Which I loved about my Bondi7s but to be real these are almost clownish in look. Kept anyway to serve a function, not fashion. But several months in the back foam began to collpase and fall and they just aren't holding up. Meanwhile the Bondi7s are still going strong. Hoka! Please bring these back. Diehard shoe. I chose the Gaviotas because the Bondi7s weren't available anymore and am disappointed. My Bondi7's are two years older and still going strong. No issues at all.

Look like clown shoes, very wide in toe box (which I like, in principle!) but also have wide base at heel

I purchased these to replace my amazing but now ageing Gaviota 4, which I love. I thought I would size down a fraction as my size 8D's are a tad big, so I ordered the 7.5D (which should have fit according to the Hoka size chart). Unfortunately, the "smaller" size 7.5D Gaviota 5 is BIGGER than the 8D Gaviota 4. The toe box is at least 5mm wider than my older "bigger" size, allowing a bit too much sideways movement for me.
Also, I'm not sure if it is an optical illusion with the black/white colourway, but the shape of the toe box seems to be overall rounder (as well as wider) than my Gaviota 4, giving my feet an almost clown-shoe-like appearance.
I adore my Gaviota 4 (they are so effective at reducing my foot pain) so I will try again and return the 7.5D to try them in a 7 regular. Love the shoe, but it's a bit frustrating when there isn't size consistency because now I have to pay to return these, not to mention the time it takes to ship to and from Perth. (Unfortunately Hoka stockists nearby don't have these sizes/colourways in stock so I have to order online.)

This appears to be a good quality shoe. It just didn't seem to have the support and close fit that my foot needs. Maybe another model would work.

Nice shoe but the toe box is WAY too large for me and the material is a mesh which is not good for my Northern climate. I'm sure it's a great shoe just not my cup of tea
