I purchased these shoes at the recommendation of my local sporting goods worker after trying them on. They are incredibly plush and comfortable. However, after wearing these shoes twice for a combined hour, my outer foot and up my calf were in so much pain that lasted days after taking off the shoes. I wasn't sure if this was because it was correcting the way my feet roll inward or what but I couldn't continue to wear them. The toe box is very wide and at first this was great but after wearing them for a day I soon realized that even the sides by my arches and outer foot were very loose, causing my foot to move around, and no amount of tightening the string helped.

Unfortunately I can't comment I returned the sneakers waiting for my refund. Which may take 15 days to process

I loved my first pair of Gaviotas (3) because they had more stability and support than the Bondi for me. I also liked the upgrade design features of the (4) but didn't love how quickly the inners on the heel wore out from regular use. The soles and uppers were still in great condition but just not that part :( wore them until the inner plastic liner made it impossible through the holes. The Gaviota 5 however, was missing the sturdiness and extra support I sought out of this design over the Bondi. The heel was much lower and although the shoe was lighter, it just wasn't as great as a model for my ankles or foot. I scrounged the internet trying to buy the model 4 after the 5s also had the wear on the heel issue with little use. I swear by my Hokas but this version of the gaviota had me back to the Bondi for the stability I was looking for.

I purchased these after a couple of close friends swore by the brand, as I typically opt for different brands. I use these for street/trail running and intermittent walking during those runs. I'm not a fan of this shoe. Though bulky looking, they are lightweight, so that is a plus. I have over pronation and after some research these were amongst ones recommended. The downside for me is the pain the comes afterwards in my knees and in my shins. The inserts rub my foot sore. The overall support of the shoes don't seem to do much for my over pronation as I often find myself trying to balance the support from leaning in too much. I've ran over 10 miles in these shoes for ideal breaking in time however, I'll give it a couple more miles to see if the shoe requires more of a break in time, but I may be retiring these much sooner than I'd hoped for running.

I have previously ordered and liked the Hoka Bondi over the past few years but decided to try the Gaviota 5. Unfortunately, the Gaviota did not have the kind of support and structure I need for sciatica and plantar fasciitis issues, so I am returning the Gaviota and will go back to the Bondi. I am sorry to return the shoes as I liked the styling.

I felt off balance in the Gravita 5. I need more stability.

This new version of Gaviotas is not as cushioned as the previous one. Even though they seem to be a bit lighter, they feel stiffer, and are wider that the predecessors. Not crazy about them.

I use Hoka for walking, I've only had them for 2 weeks and I thought the cushion would be plusher. I prefer Clifton, it's a better fit. I would have purchased the Clifton but my size was not available in any color. The new Clifton 10 is now available and will probably purchase it soon. Wish there were more black combos available. Only blk/wht and blk/blk

This is the first time I have ever said this, but the toe box was too wide. The fabric on top almost bunched up when I walked. The length was right, the width from the arch back was good. It was an odd fit. The shoe looked wide, but that wouldn’t matter if it were really comfortable. I returned them.

I have a wide foot and I did not order wide - these shoes are over the top wide. I have smaller feet and they made my feet look like duck feet. Can't keep these. I was trying to find a replacement for my Arahi 6 - wish they would make those again.

I'm a BIG Hoka fan. However, I would not buy these again. I got my regular shoe size and they are too small. My toes are squished in the top of the shoe, pressing down on my toenails, and it makes wearing the shoes very uncomfortable. I have not had this issue with any of my other Hokas. Also, the back of the shoe at the heel is low, so my heel slips out while walking and running.

I really wanted to love these, especially at this price, but they make my feet hurt due to being too soft so my feet and toes flex too much when walking. The toe box is also too wide so my feet slide, but the heel and center foot is good on this wide shoe. It's hard finding that balance between cushion and support, and these just aren't it for me. : (

The shoes seem very sturdy, well-made and great arch support. The reason I bought them was because all the reviews said even with Medium width it had a wide toe box which is what I need. It definitely has a wide toe box but the whole shoe looked like clown shoes on me. Way too big and clunky.

I am wearing it in the house and trying to get used to its feel. It is different than the arahi and I feel a little unsteady. Very comfortable and cushiony. I am hoping this will be great for walking.

I have been wearing Arahis forever to run in and wanted to try the other stability shoe. I wanted to love these. I do not. They are stable, I will say that. But they are also very cumbersome, wide, heavy, it's like running on skis. Going back to my old standbys. Will never purchase these again. Maybe a good walking or everyday shoe, but not for me for running.

It's like they had a bunch of colors that no one wanted and needed to get rid of them, so they used them all in this line. Jacking up the price to an ungodly ridiculous amount for a shoe that is not as comfortable as the previous version just heaps on the insult. Avoid this shoe if you can-- I've worn Hoka for the past decade and the quality and comfort is definitely reduced in this shoe, plus the toe box is strange.

I loved the color of these sneakers, and really wanted to like them; however, I felt they weren't comfortable overall because they rubbed against my ankle. I also disliked how wide they are. They looked a little like clown shoes for that reason. I love Hokas in general, but I sent these back.

I have terrible problems with my left arch support as well as other issues. I wore these for a few hours. My right foot was very comfortable. But my left foot at the arch was very painful.

These didn't work for me. My heel slipped on the right; no matter how tight i did the laces. Might have one foot smaller than the other. I thought they'd be perfect since reviews said the toe box was wide. I ordered my regular size 7 1/2. I need a heel that is raised up and snugger like the Hoka Challenger 7 that I purchased first in a 7 1/2 wide. This Gaviota is more stable than the Challenger 7 but I am keeping the Challenger 7 and sending these back. My back hurt after wearing the Challenger 7's the first day on the treadmill for 20 min. and thought they were not going to work. However, I tried the Challenger a second time and have been walking in the stores and the hallways in my apartment building and no more back ache. Maybe my body just needed to adjust to them which it apparently did fairly quickly. HOpe my review helps. If you have problems with heal slippage, this may not be the best, who knows? Not a fit for my feet.

My first pair of Hokas. They are nice shoes but not worth the money. Average fit and comfort. Too expensive for me.
