Overall I'm happy with this shoe. I usually buy a wide shoe but got this one in a regular width (right choice for me as they are plenty wide). Very comfortable and well made. Good support for my flat feet.

These are really great shoes. I feel super stable when I'm wearing them. I have a very, very bad back and have been suffering from chronic pain for several years. The wide stance of these shoes helps me walk with more confidence that my feet are going to land where they're supposed to. The toe box area is HUGE. I'm wearing the shoes right now, with socks on, and I can still wiggle all of my toes with ease. One thing I don't like about them is that they have no water resistance at all. A walk across the dewy grass to visit my chicken coop and the shoes are wet and I have to change when I get back to the house.

The express shipping - did not work - no code & no way to input any info. These feel kinda clunky. I wish I went into a store to try them on. But I never got near a store toward the end of a day when it is best to try on shoes. I wanted this darker color blue. All the stores had were the light/pastel colors. This toes box feels too big. I am not walking far as I am some long-term Covid issues with tendons. Perhaps when I can do 8000 - 10,000 steps a day it will be a better test run on these shoes.

It wasn't like walking on clouds, as I'd been told, but they are very comfortable. I haven't worn them much because it's been too hot to wear shoes. I anticipate the fall and cooler temperatures.

The toe box on the new Gaviota 5 is really wide and looks weird. Also, I find the added cushioning, as claimed,is not any different than the Gaviota 4. I would recommend this shoe for people who need a wide toe box.

Out of the box first impression: love the colors I picked. Bright yellow with turquoise and white and orange. First try on: of course very comfortable! First walk in them; no blisters and very comfortable. My feet like to turn inward a little and these do have a little more support than other versions of the brand, but I personally need more structure on the insides to help that roll in that my feet want to do. Keeping them tho !

If you need a wide toe box, this shoe would work for you. It's a beautiful shoe, very soft, plush and comfy. However, I thought I must have gotten a Wide instead of a Regular size. It was just too large across the toe box. I had to return and order a different style. Can't wait til my new shoes arrive! GREAT customer service!! Can't say enough about how easy they made my return and also how quickly I received my refund! Very unusual to have a company "bend over backward" to make sure you have the shoe you want and that it fits correctly. HOKA is just awesome!

I'm so glad Hoka made this version closer to the original Gaviotta. Love the wide toe box and wide heel. PLEASE keep this design.

I have worn the Hoka Gaviota 2,3,and 4 models. The 5 model is very different from previous models. The cushioning and support are still great but they are very wide....especially in the forefoot. I wore my 5's for a few weeks....even bought some extra thick Thorlo socks...but they still felt too big. I sent them back and ordered a half size down. If you have a narrow foot like I do I would recommend ordering down a half size.

My last pair of Hokas were the Bondi. I do find the Bondi are a little more comfortable, but I opted for the Gaviota as I need the stability. I am hoping with more wear, they will become more comfortable.

I love the Gaviota support and comfort. I really wish the bright colors would come back to this model which is why I gave it a three rating

My brother (a former Navy Seal) wears Hoka brand to train in the Boston Bruins BFit Challenge. I wanted to love these sneakers but there were two problems. The right shoe rubbed against my inner ankle bone and caused pain. When walking the too wide base or platform of the shoe rubbed against the other shoe.

I wish I could give these shoes a five because they worked like magic for their intended purpose, but I've owned these shoes for about six months now, and when I tell you they cured my plantar fasciitis, I mean completely. It happened so fast that I didn't even notice I just woke up one day without pain and basically forgot I ever had an issue. These shoes were a miracle, honestly. Sadly, about three months in, I started to notice some minor craftsmanship issues. The sole began to chip and tear at the edges, and the entire sole started to crease horizontally. I didn't notice any difference in comfort or function, but it was definitely an eyesore and pretty crazy for shoes I paid $190+ for after only three months. Then one day, I went to put my shoes on and used the tongue to pull them on and it ripped right out of the back of the shoe with very little effort. I assume it was a stitching issue. I submitted a warranty form online and never heard back from Hoka, and with work and my busy schedule, I never got around to following up. Fast forward to six months in, and the other tongue has also ripped out of the other shoe. I don't know if I just got a bad pair or what, but there were definitely craftsmanship issues. I wanted to love this shoe so much, and it genuinely changed my life when it comes to plantar fasciitis and pain, but it's just not living up to the hype quality-wise. Shoes starting to fall apart after just 36 months is unacceptable when I paid $190+. I don't think I'm going to pursue the warranty any further because being ignored the first time felt disrespectful, and after reviewing their warranty process which includes paying for shipping, having them evaluate the shoe in-house, and only getting a replacement if approved it feels extremely tedious and honestly sneaky, like it's meant to discourage people from even trying. Well lol

It was a very nice looking shoe, I ordered it as a Christmas gift for someone. I ordered a size 13 regular with an unfortunately was delivered a 13 wide. I didn't realize it until two days ago. I'm not sure if I can make an adjustment. The shoe was great, the size is wrong and I paid expedited shipping on it.

I purchased Gaviota 5 feeling they would be what I wanted but they just didn't fit. Previous purchases have worked out great. I'll look for another type.

I have been buying Hoka shoes for several years now with the Clifton 9 currently my favorite. I tried the new Clifton 10s but found them to be so thick in the sole that it made me unstable when walking. A very strange phenomenon. I think the soles can be too thick for those wanting a plush cushion that it creates an unstable shoe. I want a plush cushion on the inside of my shoe (like Oofos), not the outer sole. As for the Gaviota 5, I just ordered the regular width, but the shoe is very wide. Oddly, the outside of the shoe at the ball of the foot is also too wide, such that it interferes with my driving when I switch my foot from the brake pedal to the gas pedal. So I do not like driving with them either.
