Comfortable but a big clunky and makes my feet look big

A friend recommended the Gaviota. This shoe was too large. Went to a Hoka hub and got the Arahi 6, my old go to.will stick, with the Arahi! Love the Arahi. The Gaviota would be great if I had a wider foot.

They are very supportive, but feel a little too wide.

I discovered Hoka last year. I'm a nurse, so I spend a lot of time on my feet. I've tried many brands and styles of shoe, but nothing gives the comfort and support of Hoka shoes. I had the previous model of this show, and I honestly liked it better. The design is ok, and I like the color. I ordered the same size as I ordered previously, but they feel too big. However, going a half size down would almost be too small. I don't know why there seems to be such a discrepancy in size, but I already water proofed the pair I have, so, not they aren't returnable (not the fault of Hoka). I'd like to see more consistancy in sizing between older and newer models. Otherwise, I highly recommend these shoes!

I ordered the wide version and I'm happy with all the room my toes have. Maybe a little to much ...but better than to tight! I'm a lot on my knees and my toes need the room to spread. Since I walk all day on cement floors, I really wished they would have had as much cushion as the bondi but overall it is a good shoe

Pros = I bought the Wide size and they are perfect width for MY feet. My feet are wide and most shoes are not wide enough, so these felt great on my first run. These have encouraged me to try more Hoka's!
I wore them today on a run for the first time - and NO blisters!
Cons = I run 4-5 times a week and usually wear Nike, and it felt like the ball of the foot was too high relative to the heel. Maybe another style might feel different.

I'm an active 82-year-old. I wear only Hokas, for absolutely everything. An orthopedist recommended them for sesamoiditis, and I never looked back. Thank you, Hoka, for improving my life.

Follow up from my review. I tried the wide Gaviota 5 and it was too wide for me. I then purchased this shoe in a 7 1/2 (1/2 size up) in the medium width. These fit me very well.

Gaviota 5 is nice and wide but 9W
For me is too big, instead I prefer Gaviota 4

I wear my shoes all day long. They stay comfortable and leave me sure-footed. The only thing about these particular shoes is the toe area is a bit wider than most so I slip a bit. The colors are very impressive.

It was too stabilizing for my feet. But probably good for someone with different feet.

I use these shoes for walking, and they've been great on the beach. I loved my Hoka Biondi 7 shoes and am still wearing them at work. Wanted to try the new shoes and love the color I chose. The toe box is wider so the shoe looks a little bigger on my foot. Overall a great shoe, very comfortable and no back aches from walking long distances.

Seems like these have changed. The sole is not as firm and I can feel every lump and bump on the bottom of my foot.

This is a good shoe it just didn't work for me. I've been trying to find a replacement for the Bondi 7 and tried this one. I have a nerve issue and need a shoe with more cushion. The Bondi 8 is not the same as the Bondi 7, I wish it was.

Great wide toe box although they do kind of look like clown shoes. I've worn them about 5 times and realize I should have ordered a half size larger. I was concentrating on the width for my damaged foot. If you get the right size, these would be great. Unfortunately, I'm going to end up donating these expensive sneakers to Goodwill, but that's my fault, not the fault of the shoe. The footbed is really cushy and would be a great walking shoe if they were a half size larger.

These feel very similar to the 4's but the toe box is bigger and roomier. Will have to put an insert for the toe box.

I was disappointed in that I thought the shoes came with free inserts, perhaps I was wrong, because I didn't get any, Otherwise the shoes are fantastic. I'm a teacher who is always on her feet in a middle school classroom. i suffered a fall at work last May and have struggled with consequences of that fall since. I already have a physical disability so the lack of mobility has not been easy to handle. The shoes have helped a great deal in giving comfort and support during my work day. I NOTICE if I try to wear something else!

I am on my 6th pair, I believe. I wear them everyday 365 days a year for my daily shoe. I wear them to my office job, shopping, and every where in between.
The reason for the 4 out-of 5 star, is due to the Gaviota 5 being a little different than the 4. I like the looks and possibly the feel better of my 4's. But, time will tell. The 5's are looser in the toes. Even looking down, you can tell the material is looser. I wish the colors would be a little more normal as well. But regardless, I love HOKA's and recommend them to everyone!!

I have very narrow feet and the gaviota 3 was perfect for me. This renewed version will be a better fit for most but it's a bit off for me

I am a Hoka loyalist. Since I got the osteoarthritis, my podiatrist recommended Hoka to me. I had been using Bondi, but I sticker to Bondi SR. Lately, the size 8W is out of stock. So I tried Gaviota. The heels are lower than Bondi but comfortable and more stylish as compared to Bondi. Is is lighter, too. But I think I will go back to Bondi SR once they get my size. In Gaviota, my toes gets sore at the end of a long shift.
