Tried this style and found it stylish enough for going out in casual clothes and cushioned enough for my daily 2 mile walks. Worth every. Penny of price. The stability is wonderful.

My first pair of Hokas was Gaviota 4. I got them in 9wide and LOVED LOVED LOVED them. It was like walking/running on air. I use them to do a mostly walking workout with run intervals on the treadmill. When the Gaviota 5 came out, I got a pair of 9wide shoes, since that is what I wore in the Gaviota 4. I really didn't like them at all. They were too wide and look more like clown shoes than the Gaviota 4 ever did. I actually never used them for running. Since I use my shoes lightly, I am still wearing my Gaviota 4 on the treadmill because I just love how they feel so much and hate to part with them. The Gaviota 5 in 9 regular seems better than the wide. But it's still not as good or comfortable as the Gaviota 4. :-(.
Even though the Gaviota is a stability shoe, which I've always worn, the Gaviota 4 didn't feel like it was tweaking my feet. The Gaviota 5, both wide and regular make me feel like my foot is in an odd position. Definitely don't like them nearly as well as the 4. Sincerely wish shoe companies didn't insist on altering shoes every year.

These shoes are so comfortable and definitely run wide, which for me, is great! I was so excited to read multiple reviews complaining about how wide these shoes run. I have tried numerous other shoe brands and their wides fit too narrow. I even tried on a pair of wide Hoka Biondi 8s and they also were a touch too narrow. It was so frustrating. After reading the reviews for these shoes, I ordered them. My only comfort complaint is there is something on the in the left shoe that is rubbing the inside of my foot. With socks on, I cannot feel it, but I generally hate wearing socks so this might be an issue. My other complaints are regarding the style of the shoes. I don’t feel they are the best looking. They have a geriatric appearance to them and I wish there were a better variety of bright, fun color options in wide width. The soles of this shoe are ultra-cushioned and give off this appearance, not only in height. The cushioning is also very wide, which makes the wide width appear even wider, like you are walking on inflatable rafts. If you are self-conscious about the size of your foot, especially if you wear a wide width, these shoes might not be for you. I’m still deciding if I’m going to keep them. If I do, it’s only because I have accepted my wide foot ugly sneaker fate.

Extremely comfortable shoe, although it is too wide and my foot moves around in the huge toebox. I loved the Gaviota 2, and purchased 5 or 6 pairs of the 2, but disliked both the 3 and 4. The 5 is much better, because the fit, support, and rocker motion feel like the 2. I usually wear a 9.5, but had to size down to a 9. It is still tooo wide but I'm dealing with it (always wear my thickest socks), because except for the wideness of it, it's a great shoe. Please keep making it, just make it narrower or sell it in a narrow!
Even though it's not a trail shoe, I use the Gaviota 2 for hiking 14ers in Colorado, and hope to use this shoe but am concerned the extra room inside the shoe may pose a stability problem.

I really like my new Hoka tennis shoes. I gave a 4 star rating because I have very narrow feet and, of course, they fit a bit wide. Other than that, I like the style, the colors, and how comfortable the shoes are.

I've been searching for the right pair of shoes for over a year. The folks at Hoka always let me try them out first and that's been a blessing. I have wide feet and neuropathy.bad combination. This was another fit fail no fault of the shoesjust my feet

The fit was fine in the length, but the toe bed was quite wide.

These sho s are blinding white. Mistake on my part as the bottom two colors makes them even whiter and they don't easily blend in. Wish I had done light blue or gray instead

Very comfortable for walking and everyday wear.
They feel wide even though they are B width.
The first pair I purchased fit more to true size.

I love the shoes but they didn't help my feet. They are comfortable, but with my plantar fasciitis the shoes didn't help the pain.

The Gaviota shoes are similar to the Bondi 8. I have tried them both, with the same issue. The high profile sole looks "funny," and the left shoe was too large for me, allowing my heel to slip. I tried locking the laces on the left one, but, it didn't help. They are very cushioned and good for walking. The right one was true to size, but, the left was too big for me.

Hokas have been my everyday shoes for years now. Bondi 5, 6, 7, and then with Bondi 8 I noticed they squished my toes. Switched to Gaviota with its wider toe box - no more toe pain. They are also wider in the heel, which I don't like/need, but still, Hokas every day!

The comfort is outstanding & phenomenal. I walk on concrete floors all day long. It is true to size for me 6.5 US. My only "dislike" is the look Looks like I'm wearing "ping pong paddle boards" in a size 8 or 9. In my case comfort for work is essential & I'll live with the "looks".

I walk the dog then wear the shoes all day long.
They get noticed and I hope it's not because they spread out width wise. I have a B width, and don't like how wide these look. They are comfortable with sufficient toe room, and I am still trying to judge their stability and support.

I love the Gaviotas. Had the 4s and wanted to try the 5s after trying them on a few weeks ago at a local store. I decided on an 8 wide. Well I ordered them and they were way too big. I thought maybe they were just marked wrong and were an 8 in men so I ordered another pair and the same thing. They are way too big. I'm gonna try a7 1/2 this time. I'll let ya know how it goes. I will say that all the shipping back and forth has been very quick. So that makes it alot better.

Gaviota 5 seems like a bigger shoe all aroundtoo much room up front in toe box area for me now. Bummed.

I have two pairs of HOKA's, both I love. I wanted another good walking shoe with cushioning and support. I had high hopes for the Gaviota 5. However, though the right shoe fit well and was comfortable for walking and standing, the left one felt too big, allowing my heel to slip up. This could be due to the wide toe box on the Gaviota. I returned them, and decided to try a different model.
If you need a wide toe box, and don't mind the "clown feet " look, then try them.

Really liked the Graviota 5's design, however the super-wide toebox was too wide for my normal width foot. I thought it would be amazing since I tend to have a neutral/forefoot strike when I run, but it was wide enough that my foot was sliding all over the place, even with the laces locked down. I think they would be great for people with bunions or other foot issues that effect the forefoot, but sadly I had to return them.
Re: the stability claims, they're all true. I felt like I had a really even progression as I stepped off and didn't feel the usual over-pronation, but there was still a little bit, probably because there was so much room for my foot to wiggle around in there.
I ended up keeping the Hoka Arahi 7 I also purchased, which are definitely more narrow and tight (I'm hoping the brand's claim that the upper will relax with wear is true), but they do a better job of holding my foot stable as I transition through my stride.

These are by far the most comfortable sneakers I've ever had, but boy are they wide. I wish there was a narrow option. I love the color combinations too.

They are sooo huge when I look down at them! They're the right size and very comfortable but I don't know how long it will take to get used to just how much they stick out on the little toe side of the shoe! Why are they made like this? They just make my foot look weird. FYI, after reading other reviews (none of them mentioned this,), I ordered a half size larger than my normal size and they fit well - they just look wrird

The shoes are nice but are much wider than my Hoka Clifton in the footbed. The heel is not wide, but more like the Clifton.

I don't usually get this shoes but I like the wide toe box. Not too happy about the heel though. It keep slipping even after I changed how I tied the shoes. I will stick to Bondis they feel better on my feet.
