These are great for bad knees working on concrete. PLUS - added bonus - the kids I teach now think I migh be cool. Cool shoes = cool person.

While these shoes are very supportive and comfortable they made a blister on the side of my left heal.

I order these for the first time and loved the color and everything about it but the Toe was too wide and I am returning and trading for the Arahi 7. I've had Arahi 6 and loved them. I'd definitely recommend these and Arahi Hoka shoes. I work as nurse all day on my feet. I'd love to have these in the toe wasn't so wife tho very pretty shoes too

First, it is a good shoe and has a nice feel on. I didn't wear them "out and about" but for my try on, I just didn't like the look. I appreciate a wide toe box, but this was a bit too much for me. And despite being Stable and Plush, I didn't find them as much so as the Clifton 9s I am keeping. Size wise, for me they were true to my usual size. General comfort was good, nothing pinching, binding, or rubbing. I think for an overpronating running, these would be excellent.

I wore a 7.5 wide in Gaviota 4 and ordered same with Gaviota 5 and find they dramatically changed their toe box. The 7.5W in the new version was at least double the width in the prior version. I exchanged for 7.5B in the new version which feels closer to the 7.5W in the old shoe.

These are very wide compared to my other Hokas in B width. They aren’t for me.

Love the cushioning in these shoes. I have very narrow heals and my heels do slip a little in this shoe. They are very comfortable and other than the heel slippage the fit is great.

I actually returned these shoes, because there is not enough drop from heel to toe for me. Risk of plantar fasciitis. The shoes seemed well-made and very comfortable, but just were not for me.

These are by far the comfiest walking shoes I've ever had and was excited they came in regular and wide - I ONLY needed regular width but was convinced I'd been sent wide. Apparently not - they are SUPER WIDE even at regular. Too much space in there for anything other than walking, but that's what I needed them for so I'm glad I kept them. Never got feet pain on my 6 mile loops.

I feel like these give me great support! I usually experience pain in my joints when running and I have zero pain with these. I only wish they came in narrow. They are really wide on me.

The sizing on the Gaviota 5 wide is very different. I have the both the Gaviota 3 and 4 in 7.5 wide. I tried the Gaviota 5 in sizes 7 and 7.5 but they both made me look like I have clown feet. Never thought I’d say a shoe was too wide in the toe box! So I ended up getting the 6.5 wide. They look much slimmer. The length of the Gaviota 5 size 6.5 is slightly shorter than my Gaviota 4 in 7.5. I do wish the 6.5 were a bit wider in the toe box. Unfortunately there is such a big difference between the 6.5 and 7 wide in toe box width.

I wear a size 7.5 in Asics and most other running shoes. These run large across the board (all different styles) of Hokas.

I am not a regular sneaker wearer and wanted to try. They are light and very comfy. They run a little wide, and I am not wide foot. Size is good. Ordered 8.5 and have room.

I ordered the Gaviota 5's because I needed a replacement for my much loved and dependable Bondi 7's. I wore the Bondi 7's everyday for years. The Bondi 8's are a completely different shoe than the 7's and unwearable for me. I read other reviews from customers who had the same problems with the Bondi 8's which steered me to the Gaviota 5's. I was looking for support that helps prevent supination and these were so much better than the Bondi 8's. They do run very wide though so keep that in mind if you order. I wore a Wide in the Bondi 7's and needed the regular width in the Gaviota 5's and they are still a little roomy.

The reviews saying the HOKA Gaviota 5 has a large toe box are correct. I bought a HOKA Bondi 8 in a 6 wide and it fits perfect in the width, but the HOKA Gaviota 5 in a women's 6 Medium is almost too wide. Since I have neuropathy in one foot, I don't really mind that the shoe is really wide. My main issue is that, at least, the gray color fabric is pretty thin. I think it may wear out quickly if you play sports or run in this shoe. For walking it is fine. Because the toe box is so large, the thin fabric also develops a crease across the toes.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks, Easy Spirit, Saucony, Propet (for boots) and Orthofeet.

Overall the shoes are great; good stability and fabulous cushioning, BUT the toe box is way too wide. I have the laces as tight as they can go and wear thick hiking socks. This is fine for winter, but will be awful in summer.

I work full time in the healthcare field, and wearing HOKAs is the only way I can stay on my feet for 50+ hours a week and not be completely miserable.

Liked the Bondi 8 better for my needs. Overall really liked this shoe just not powder blue but it was the only color in my size.

I did not realize this was a stability shoe that would keep me from walking with my neutral gait. The shoe had great space for my toe width and the bottoms had plenty of cushion. I felt the shoe was well made, but my feet could not bend in their natural way. I usually wear an 8 - 81/2 in sandals. For this shoe the 9.5 W was an appropriate size. The 10 1/2 Wide was way too big. I think for individuals needing a stability shoe with great toe space and depth, this would be a great shoe. Unfortunately I will have to return.

I loved my Gaviota 4! So when I needed to replace, I was sad that I couldn't buy another pair. I took a chance on the Gaviota 5. It's just not as comfortable and doesn't support the same way.

Wide is true to size. I went a .5 size up (8.5 to 9) and they are much more comfortable than other brands. Happy I made the jump to this brand. After a long 14+ hr shift nursing my feet do not ache like they used to. Calf pain is gone.

I normally wear an 8.5 so that is what I order, but also chose wide because that is what I needed. The width is perfect, but the length is too much. I wish I had ordered an 8 wide.

I have high arch & this sneaker fits well & has a good support, the heel part is soft, it's like walking on clouds.
