Wide toe box, very comfortable right out of the box.

I have a bad case of plantar fasciitis and ordered these shoes in order to go on long walks a vacation. My feet felt so much relief from these shoes. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

No break in time was required and the front was roomy enough that I didn't need to order my usual wide. Such a great shoe and I love the colors

I work 12-13 hour shifts on my feet, moving almost all day and have worn nothing but Hoka Bondi since 2019. My feet love Hoka Bondi. However, I wanted more stability than the Bondi is designed to offer. My knees and ankles need more stability, but I was afraid of giving up the comfort of the Bondi. No need to fear! Wore the Gaviota 5 to work, but took my Bondi's as backup and my feet, knees and ankles love the Gaviota 5! Yes, the Gaviota is a bit less cushy than the Bondi, but I was able to wear them for consecutive shifts and my feet feel great. The shoe puts my weight on my heels and gives me the stability I need. There is also the addition of a bit of arch support. I've found my new work shoe as long as Hoka keeps the Gaviota as is. Thank you!!!

I started my Hoka journey after a bad bout with plantar fasciitis, I got the Bondi 8 in my regular shoe size 9.5 however they felt a bit narrow, and the wide cut was entirely too big for my foot. The Gaviota 5 have a much wider toe box and they fit like a glove in my regular size 9.5 - I am in healthcare and walk daily for exercise, these are by far the best shoes I have ever owned!!! I highly recommend if you are looking for a wider toe box for a natural foot splay. I just hope they come out with more colors in this style!

I wear Hokas on advice of my podiatrist and these are very good for my weak ankles. The toe is rounded but I need that toe box room. They aren't cheap but fit my orthotics and I make Hoka part of my budget. I loved the old hiking boots they had but haven't tried the new ones.

Comfortable. Like walking on a cloud. Worth the price for the comfort and stability.

I've struggled to find a Hoka shoe in a wide width. This is the answer. Lots of room, very stable, and lots of cushion. Thank you Hoka for adding the wide width.

I can't say enough about how much I love these shoes I love the way the sole is wider. It seems to give me a lot more stability and I am a clumsy person with flat feet. These shoes changed my life.

Good quality material, very light weight shoe. I really liked the shoe but when I put them on and walked a few steps on carpet I could feel lumps on the bottom of my feet from the design of the sole. Very uncomfortable. So disappointed because I liked the shoe aside from this. I need a shoe with smooth bottom.

I love the color and bought mostly based on that. They are firmer than I usually go for even though they are considered “max cushion“ by hoka. They are more stable than the bondi with good arch support. I was surprised I could wear them since I really need allot of soft squishy protection in my toe box. The toe box is wide which I love and I can wear them all day comfortably (although I would not go on a long walking excursion in them). I’m recovering from a stress fracture that took 12 weeks to heal and I can only wear these gaviotas and a pair of NB fresh foam X. I think that speaks well abt these hokas!

The wide width fit to a degree. They hurt the outside of my feet if I stand or walk a lot; and a lot to me is to the grocery store and back. I'm keeping these. But I'm going to keep looking for a better fitting shoe that doesn't hurt my feet.

I tried to love these, the wide toe box is amazing but the outer side of the shoes absolutely kill my feet, I don’t know if it’s part of the stability system? I tried to make them work but I just cannot wear them. Stinks because now I’m out $170 because I did wear them out for several walks because I thought I could make them work. They even made my knees hurt. I know people love them, but just be careful!

Where are the BRIGHT colors? The colors you put out are too too light l!! They get dirty too fast! Manufacture and sell more choice of colors.

I usually have to have a 10 wide width but these were way too wide so had to return but after reading the reviews for this shoe that the medium was wider than normal I bought the 10 B and they were just right and they even came in a color I liked better also. And the cushioning seems to be comparable with the Bondi 7's which I loved and still have 3 pairs and wearing.

Really liked the color and style of this Hoka shoe, the width was wider than I expected. I usually wear a 9.5 W but this shoe was much wider. Returned for the medium width..

I liked everything about this sneaker but the toe box. I agree with others who commented that they look like clown shoes. I think the style could accommodate for a bit more room in the toe box than a previous version, but HOKA went overboard with this one.

I have been wearing Bondi 8's for 6 months and decided to buy a second pair in a different style. I bought 8.5 wide in Bondi, only 8 wide on Gaviota. The Bondi 8 felt great from the moment I put them on, great arch support. The Gaviota 5 feel like the arch support is missing. This is the first full day I am wearing them, but I am worried about getting foot cramps due to the lack of arch support. These could just feel like no support in comparison to the Bondi 8 as those are the only shoes I have worn for 6 months. If you need excellent arch support I recommend the Bondi 8.

I walk 5 miles/day on black top or concrete. I can feel the inside is less "springy" than when I first bought them. I wish shoe companies made replacement inserts so they could be rotated to allow the cushion time to recover. Good shoes are expensive and most people can't afford to own multiple pairs at one time. Will see how long these last.

The last pair of Hoka's was the Arahi, so I thought I'd try a different style. I liked the way they looked, the color selection but even though they were a medium width, they were much wider in the toe box. The medium width fit like a wide and would be much too large for someone who is a true medium width. I will be returning to the Arahi.

I had been buying Bondi 8 but read that Gaviota's provide stability so I thought I would try them. Other than a stiffer sole plate and not as padded, I haven't experienced much difference.

I normally wear a wide and have the Bondi 8 in 11 W. The wide in the Gaviota is super wide. I couldn’t feel the sides at all

I have been wearing Hokas for the last 5 years. My doctor recommended them after I had foot surgery. He said they are a very good and stable shoe. I tried them and was hooked on Hokas it is basically the only shoe I wear, to say I really like them is an understatement and i recommend them to anyone that asks me about them. I have purchased multiple styles and pairs of Hokas, but Gaviota 3 was the first pair I have since purchased Gavitoa 4 two times and went a head and got the Gavitoa 5.All of the Hokas I have bought have been size 8.5 so with confidence I got the Gavitoa 5 in the 8.5, I was disappointed that they seem to run big my foot moves around in the front and by the end of the day because the upper is not securing my feet my feet are tired. I am considering ordering an 8 to see if the 8 works better, but because of the price I am going to have to wait to try going a size down. I will give them to my oldest daughter she wears a 9 and see what she says. When I get the new pair I will update.
