I bought these for rainy days and hikes for my 2 month trip to Italy and Greece. I also brought an old pair of runners to be my primary shoe for the trip. By the end of the first month the material behind the heel had worn through all the way to the foam backing on both shoes. I was very shocked as I've never had a pair of shoes wear through like that with such little use. I sent them back and am just waiting for LLBean to process the return. The rest of the shoe is perfectly fine - the fit was normal, the Gore-tex kept my feel dry, and the traction was great. Nice color, too. Pretty bummed.

Never have I needed to, 'break-in' my Hoka's, I own over ten different pairs/styles (CliftonL, Stinson7, Bondi8, SkywardX) however these,I may have to. Hoka nailed it with the METEOR / COSMIC SKY color, I absolutely LOVE IT! The sides and lower toe box are tight, they're too flat and too stiff. I'm in my '50s, I put in 13-17,000 steps daily through rough terrain, bipolar Michigan weather and standing on cement in a cramped warehouse. The shoes have great traction but what good are they if I can't wear them 3 hours into my shift without killing my feet? The round shoe laces are a no-go as well, constantly retieing them. I haven't decided if I want to keep them, I will try them with a thinner toe sock (when is Hoka going to make runner's toe socks?) then decide. If they were a little more, SkywardX plush/arch support, they'd be perfect imo. Thank you Hoka, for a great return policy, I'll keep trying.

I bought these for the comfort and features. I love them! Unfortunately, it's been less than a year and I've barely worn them and both laces started unraveling and one broke. I contacted Hoka. They offered NO assistance and said to get replacement laces online! Be aware that there is no customer support and assistance. At this price point, this is very disappointing and wrong.

Depending on the socks I wear, my toes feel cramped. But if I ordered a half size up they would be too big probably. I wouldn't buy again.

I got these shoes in August of 2023 for a trip to Europe, and have continued to wear them for hiking and walking with our dog. I'm not a trail runner or anything close to an athlete, and I have to say these shoes have not held up to the Hoka expectations. While the upper of the shoe has held up, the outsole is already crumbling. Really disappointing that the treads of the vibram are now peeling off after only a little over a year. The warranty is only a year long so unfortunately I'll have to pay for a new pair of shoes. I did love them initially, they are comfortable and the goretex is perfect on rainy days. It is unfortunate that the quality is not up to par as I would have expected to get at least 2-3 years of wear from an outdoor product at this price point. I am debating whether or not to purchase a pair of Hoka's again after my experience.

I like these shoes ok and have become more or less my favorite model of Hoka that I own. I have an orthotic in there and I'm grateful there is more than enough space for me to fit it in there. There are three major critical design flaws of this shoe that really stand out to me. 1. It is hard for me to lock down my foot in these. Not impossible but the shoe is pretty rigid and the laces do not lace well if you are using the top holes of the shoe to get your foot to stay in the shoe 2. These shoelaces are not great and always become untied all the time always. You kind of have to replace them or face a life of tying them a lot. It is hard to tie these sufficiently if you are using the top holes of the shoe which you kind of have to I think. I don't hate there is a lot of volume inside of shoe but it's not the most stable hugged feeling that one likes to have in a hiking shoe. 3. Be careful going down stairs!! Maybe avoid going down stairs with these shoes altogether. I have hurt myself and nearly hurt more times than I count by the insanely large protruding heel bevel getting caught on the lip of stairs or getting stepped on by others following too closely. It's scary!! I am not against heel bevels but these shoes are seriously the only shoes I own that have a potentially lethal one. If a pair of shoes ends up killing my clumsy inattentive self these shoes would definitely be suspect one. I think I would recommend with above caveats! Be careful!

I was hesitant to purchase these as I have seen reviews on other websites of the bottoms being slippery. I wanted a pair of Gortex hikers though, so I decided to try them. The shoes themselves are comfortable. However, do not expect the cushy comfort as other Hoka's. These are hikers and meant to give you feel for the ground. The slippery bottom held true for me. First day I wore them, I was on concrete steps which were dry, and for no reason, my foot slipped out from under me. Not sure why this occurred, but I cannot chance it. Also, these shoes will look "long" on your feet even if they are the correct length. The design of the toe gives this long appearance. Great color, good comfort, but I do not want to chance slipping or falling.

I have been buying Hokas for many years. After having a tendon tear in my foot several years ago I need wide shoes. I have been waiting for a waterproof hiking shoe in a wide for Well, what seems like forever. I really wanted to love these shoes, but the tongue is too long and rubs on my ankle. Also unlike the other styles of wide shoes, these seem to be much wider. Why are there so few waterproof Hokas in wide? So disappointing they'll have to go back

I would not buy this product again. Balance is wonderful, but the product is too wide and that is uncomfortable. My heal gets sore at times where the top rolls up.

I've been looking for my new hiking shoes and wished Hoka Anacapa 2 Low GTX® worked for me. I own two Hoka shoes (e.g., Clifton 9) and wear size 7.5 for both. I ordered my normal size, but I felt Anacapa 2 Low GTX® were a little shorter and a narrower maybe due to GORE-TEX material. I tried 8 at a store, but I felt it was a little too big for me. I ordered Speedgoat 5 instead, and I'm hoping that I can wear those for upcoming hiking.
I'd also recommend:
Birkenstock

I loved the Anacapa 1 low GTX, in fact, I wore them out. I ordered the Anacapa 2 low GTX which replaced the 1. I don't like it as well. It doesn't fit snugly enough around the ankle and the laces are tough to get tight. I ordered on-line and didn't try them on first. I should have. They are ok, but I won't wear on long hikes as I had hoped. The fit is just not there. Disappointed.

I love my Hoka's, they have completely solved my feet issues and I will be a forever customer. I was excited to try their hikers, but I found them uncomfortable. I know hikers are stiffer, but these were an uncomfortable stiff. I am hopeful to try again later as the hikers evolve. Every foot is different so I hope they work for you.

The shoe is lightweight but sturdy. The rounded toe was roomy. But, the rest of the shoe was on the wider side. It didn't matter how heavy my socks were or how tight I laced them. My foot wiggled around and felt like it wasn't supported enough for hiking. I had to return them.

I'm still on the fence about the GTX waterproof version. Yes they keep my feet dry. They easy to get on & off. It's the stiffness I don't like. Still debating.. My other Hokas are so comfortable, I could sleep in them! But, I live in rainy WA state and also Florida & need waterproof! Are all the GTX with leather Hokas stiff?

Truly waterproof, very comfortable walking shoe. My only drawback is that there isn't enough arch support for my foot. Needed to use my own orthotics in this shoe.

I have heard such great things about Hoka shoes, so I thought I'd try them out. I train horses and manage a small stable, so I'm on my feet a LOT, and needed something that would keep me from getting home in horrible pain. At first I thought these would work. They rubbed on my ankle bone a little, but I was willing to overlook that for more comfort in my actual feet. Unfortunately, the hooks that the top laces hook into are angled in such a way that they immediately catch any hay net that gets within range. The literally tripped me up several times, at one point catching both feet, and nearly resulting in injury. So, if you have horses and use hay nets at all, AVOID THESE AT ALL COSTS. They are dangersous.

I bought the Anacapa 2 Mid GTX as a replacement for my Anacapa Mid GTX, which I loved. The Anacapa 2 are NOT the same. They were both size 9.5B, but the Anacapa 2 were much smaller than the original pair- a half to full size, and completely unwearable. They also lack the arch support and are much less cushioned than the original pair. Unfortunately, I missed the returns window so I can't return or exchange them.

I bought my normal size and they felt alright until I used them for hiking. Then they felt too short. My toes were very sore from hitting the end of the shoe. I am very disappointed as they were expensive. I have owned six pairs of Hoka shoes before this pair, and have never had this problem. I wish I had bought them in a larger size as I am unable to wear them again.

These look nice and they are durable. The outsole is sturdy with great traction. But there are two big dealbreakers. 1. They are very uncomfortable with cushioning distributed in a way that doesn't work for me. Wearing them for any length of time makes my feet hurt. I have even tried them with third-party cushioned insoles and it doesn't help much. Not what I expected from a Hoka shoe. 2. Even worse, despite what you read on the online gear review sites, they are not very waterproof at all. After spending 15 minutes in a moderate rain or walking through a couple of puddles (deep enough to cover the toes but not come in through the top), water starts seeping in around the toes. My feet don't get soaked, but they get pretty damp. And then they take forever to dry out. I don't think this is just the DWR wearing down because they have been this way since soon after I bought them. I have had much better luck with other shoes that cost me 1/3 the price. This was a big part of why I bought them, so I am deeply disappointed.
