The shoes are very comfy but very unreliable. I used them for a couple of months, and they started falling apart. Unfortunately, can't attach a picture to show it here.

My second time putting them on the loop in back broke. I have run two weeks in them. I enjoy the cushion, but the outsole is already shot/

I really hated this shoe. They have a huge foot print. Impossible to drive with them, especially if you drive a manual with a clutch, it's like trying to drive in ski boots. I gave them to goodwill, after a month. The whole Hoka thing is too gimmicky for me.

They made these shoes wider and less supportive. I was a long-term Gaviota person, but these are absolute trash. Bring back your supportive shoes, Hoka!!! Had to move to Brooks sadly.

I have 4 pairs of Gaviota 4s. Looking for next group of shoes when I saw there was a Gaviota5.
As soon as I received them and tried them on, back in the box on the way back.
The 4s fit perfectly but someone decided that the 5s should be wider even though still called the same width.
Disappointed,

The shoes only lasted 3 months before stitching came undone and the back pull tab came off

My friends and family swear by this brand. About a year ago I bought the Gaviota 4. They started to fall apart. The excellent customer service at Hoka replaced them under warranty. I replaced them with the Gaviota 5. Felt great when I put them on. After a few months, I developed severe hip pains and later shin splints. I had hip pains to a lesser degree with the Gaviota 4. I started to suspect the shoes were the problem, I went back to my old standard New Balance. After about a month, the pain started to go away. Back to the Hokas. I was just a mile into my 6-8 miles and it was worse than ever so I had to return. I can't even use them to liesurely walk around the house. I suspect they are too soft, especially in the heel. This puts stress on my hips and lower leg. These shoes might be good for some people. They definitely won't work for me.

The frame at the arch digs into your arch. I have the Gaviota 3 and it was perfect. I had to get the regular width Gaviota 5 because it is wider than the wide width Gaviota 3 which is what I have. But in both the regular and wide width Gaviota 5s, the frame really digs into the arch. Don't get why they would do such a radical redesign!!

So, I am really hoping this experience is not what is in store for hoka. Got the new Ga iota in Black on Black size 10d bc frankly I am awesome. They looked and felt amazing. Wore them for two days and the tread on the heel of the left shoe started peeling off. No worries. I tried to find a number to call for hoka. Nope it's like text. Ok went through the process. Had to print my own packing slips and labels. No problem. I think I'm doing an even exchange. A day later like clock work I get an e mail. We're sorry to inform you but we've refunded your original form of payment. Ok who said do that. I need sneakers pal. Anyway it's whack. I waited for the new gaviota black/black size 10d bc as I said before I'm awesome. Instead I got a forced return after I shipped my damaged shoes back. Come on guys, this isnt "Brooks" for cs. Thanks. D

I had worn the Gaviota 4, It was the most comfortable shoe. It wore well and lasted me at least a year until I wore the bottoms out. I have had the Gaviota 5 for not even two months the bottoms are wearing fast and I can tell they have broken down to the point I am already exploring a new shoe. Will I spend it on Hoka again is to be determined.

Full disclosure... I love Hokas . BONDI 8 (2XW) is the best shoe I have ever had in my entire life. These Gaviota cost more, having the vaunted H frame, but after several months wearing these I have started feeling the worst foot pain of my life (specifically in my heals and arches). Terrible. I thought I would eventually break them in but the experience has only gotten worse and worse week after week. The H Frame seems to prevent these shoes from *ever* breaking in properly. I swapped back to my worn pear of Bondi 8 and the pain is almost completely gone after just a single day.

The tab on the back of the shoe torn when it had been worn less than 1 week. Returning due to defect.

I have black and blue sores on side of my feet and toes plus a terrible pain on bottom of my left foot.
I would not recommend these at all.
I would like a refund for my purchase.

These shoes lack depth.
My heels were sliding with every step.
There was no ankle support.
The inner lining was made of a fabric that encourages moisture and no grip.
Also no stability mainly because the shoe barely covered my ankles.
Hoka, make shoes with depth.

I ordered the Hokas online. I had options of normal width and wide width. I chose wide. The product arrived and the size was 10 DOUBLE E. I was never expecting this wide.

Left show rubs and causes blisters, right shoe does not. There is a seam in the arch that is problematic.

I work with a pest control company. Walking all terrains, 8+ miles a day. Half of the mileage I walk is with 60-70pounds on my back. This style of shoes did not meet my expectations. The shoe finder is little help. Second pair of shoes I've purchased that are uncomfortable. Wore both for just one day. This style gave me terrible shin splints, and other style gave me blisters. I would expect more from almost 200 pair of hokas

This shoe hurts my left foot. I was told to buy Hoka because they were most comfortable, but it makes the pain in my left foot worsen. My right foot feels great!
But the left foot is very painful in your shoe.

These are supposed to be good for "everyday running". In reality, I can't run more than a quarter-mile without painful shin splints.
I am returning these and buying another pair of Cliftons.

The gaviota 3 was really nice. Didn't try the 4. But the gaviota 5 is way different than the 3. These do nothing for foot orthotics compared to the 3.
