This is my 4th pair of Gaviota 5, and all have the same issue. The tongue doesn't lie centered. Shoes are fine, but decided not to buy another pair this time. Been with hola for at least 8 years. Will try a pair of Nike's, reluctantly.

Once I get the shoes on they are incredibly comfortable, but the tongue is too short and jams closer to the toe. I need help to pull the tongue straight. I've called hoka and got no suggestions. I tried sewing the tongue to the inside sides, , shoe horn, etc. nothing seems to work. I have limited mobility so I can't bend down easily to pull the tongue. I purchased the tongue less hoka shoes but they do not have the the stability of the gaviola 5.

They're ok but for the price I could buy a cheaper brand and have just as much comfort. The only reason I went with a style other than Bondi 9's is because I was looking for a more toned down color other than white. It would be nice if you would make Bondi's in something other than extremely bright colors.

I wore out my last pair of Gaviota 4 and alas, they were no longer available. I ordered the 5 in my normal size (8W) -- way too long. Returned them for the 7.5 W and although the fit is better, they still don't feel as comfortable and supportive as the Gaviota 4 did. Tried other styles and sizes in a retail store and stuck with these because everything else felt worse. Bring back the Gaviota 4!!!

Used for walking but after several months it seems the cushion is much less.. Does not feel as supportive and it's only been a few months.

I am a true 8.5B (narrow foot). The Gaviota 4 was a perfect fit. The new wider footbed is dumb for a runner who has a narrow foot but wants the stability and less floppy footbed. So frustrating when good shoe styles are modified.

these fit totally different than the Clinton 10s... and have much less cushion. they are well made... but if you are looking for impact support i would go with another Hoka shoe designed for that. luckily for me the Hoka customer service is amazing and i was able to return my shoe and get one that suited my needs.

Overall, the shoes are good. However, after just a few months of wear, the heel wore down to the plastic, which now rubs against my feet. I sent them in for a warranty claim, but it was denied. For such expensive shoes, I'm disappointed they wore out so quicklynone of my other shoe brands have done this.

I bought the Gaviota each year a new version came out. It was my go to shoe. Then they redesigned the Gaviota 5 and widened the toe box. My foot slips around too much now they feel like clown shoes on my feet, I searched and searched for a new brand my feet liked. I found only one the Brooks adrenaline.
I hope Hoka changes it back one day

When I first bought the shoes, they were great, but after a couple of weeks, the paint on the outside part started peeling off and now it looks like I have ripped and tattooed shoes, two months later.

I really like the style of this shoe but they are very uncomfortable on the balls of my foot. I have to add extra padding so that I can walk in them. They do make my feet look really big other than that I think it may just be this particular pair. My husband loves his Hoka's. I hate returning stuff so I just wear them with extra padding. I'm going to order me a different pair.

I've worn the Arahi twice previously and have gotten very good wear from them. I heard good things about the Gaviota so thought I'd give them a try. Without knowing the proper term, the "tread" on the bottom of the shoe is VERY thin. In short time, it had worn out and I was walking on the cushioning material which naturally wears out even quicker. My weight doesn't vary much and I don't have an injury that caused my gait to change, and I walk the same path each day. These seem to be better suited for indoors and office environments.

I like the feel of the shoe. It's very comfortable for my sometimes painful feet. However, once you ask for a wide with the colors are very limited. You can either get black or some version of a white. So I got the white and it absolutely got filthy within days. Anything that touches it stains And I cannot get it off. I've tried everything! So I'm very disappointed that you can't get a darker color that's not black.

The upper was made of a thinner material that was not supportive. Disappointed.

I would have included this with my return, but the return form didn't give me the option to specify why I was returning them. But the reason I returned them was that the outside edge of the sole on both shoes appeared to have been sliced. It was so odd. Other than that, they felt comfortable when I tried them on, and I loved the color. Fit true to size

I love the shoe however in less than a month they've already freaked around the eyelet on the right foot.

I actually returned these shoes as I found them more narrow and not as comfortable as my last GAVIOTA 5s. I purposely made sure I ordered the same as I currently have (the soles are wearing out) and while I realize that my current shoes are now worn, they felt comfortable the moment I tried them on. This was not the case this time. The right foot in particular felt almost lumpy under the insole along the outside of my foot as well. Maybe this was just a "bad" pair or I got lucky last time.

I bought this style rather than my usual Speedgoat style. I like that it's a bit wider than the speedgoat but it runs a bit short on one foot and my toe bothered me quite a bit. My foot seems to have adjusted somewhat but I was disappointed. The padding is good but had hoped for more. Overall I will make the best of it because I needed them for a trip.

I purchased it for stability and arch support but didn't notice anywhere where it said wide toe box. The Hoka specialist then did tell me they were the widest ones in the front. I returned them and just today ordered the Arahi 8 that the specialist recommended. Hopefully these work out!

Seemed that it would be very comfortable, but much too wide for me. I had to return.

I bought the Giovata a year ago, which I lived in. It was time to buy another pair. Although happy with the first pairs cushioning factor, the new ones seem like less cushion was used. Maybe they reduced the cushion size? I'm not sure but went and bought a different brand which I'm happy with the cushion. These might work for light walking but not for running or aerobic activity. This is just an opinion based upon my last purchase. I'll look for another style with HOKA that are cushioned and running.

I've been on four runs with these so far. I find that they rub the inside of my foot weirdly and if I ran longer distances, I'd expect bad blisters. My calves also cramp a lot wearing these, which might be from the squishiness. I purchased these in part for the rumored softness--I'm prearthiritic on my metatarsals, and I will say that the cushion really softens the blow, but it seems to do so at the cost of stability, because I feel the inside soles giving too much, and it's causing knee pain.

I bought these hopeful as I have been having a lot of trouble finding a Hoka shoe that fits I loved the Ahani 6 best shoe ever then the 7 came out not a great shoe for me. Like I said I was hopeful but they are way to wide for a normal foot
