Fits well, not as much cushion as previous Hoka shoes but acceptable.

Although I like the Gaviota 5, the fit is good, the colors are great, but it doesn't have the cushioning of the Bondi 7 or Bondi 8. I've gone through about six pairs of Bondi 7's and one pair of Bondi 8's. The Bondi 8 had plenty of cushion, but even though I got the normal width it's quite wide. I only bought the Gaviota 5 since the Bondi 7 is no longer available. However, it is a comfortable shoe and all my running and walking is done on pavement. But, I may have to go back to the Bondi 8, or whatever comes next, since it's all backordered

Ilike the shoe but it puts pressure on the top of my foot

I'm not a fan of the mass trend towards all mesh uppers. The heel cup is good and solid, but the forefoot feels a bit sloppy. I prefer a bit more structure and snugness in mid-foot fit and I find myself fiddling with the lacing each run to find that happy feel. That said, it is a comfortable shoe and continues to deliver on pronation control, which is the primary reason for my buying them.

Ok, received an email to write a review. I've only had the shoes 2.5 weeks, so I'm not sure I've had them long enough top review yet. I have peripheral neuropathy and have been looking for shoes that i can wear while walking my dogs. Most of the time I go barefoot or wear recovery flip flops. About a 1/2 hour into our walks, my feet start burning. I have also tried different socks. Not much has helped, but these shoes feel more comfortable than others I've tried. They are definietyly lighter in weight which helps. There may be no help for me.

It seems the toe box is too wide while the rest of the foot feels really good. I'm considering sending them back. My Hoka Kawanas fit much better but don't have the cushioning the Gaviota 5s has that I really like.

I have a hard time finding shoes that fit my my feet correctly and have the support and cushion I need. These are almost perfect. Only downside is the traction on them is very minimal and thin. I bought these to only use for work. I will be very mad if the traction part of the shoe only last 6 months. Especially for the price.

Third pair of different Hoka sneakers this year. I would recommend this pair of sneaker if you are looking for stability only. This pair of Gaviota 5 indicates plush, but it is anything but plush. I like the sneaker but I need it to have a little more cushion.

Fit well and are comfortable. I have a very high instep and these Wide sizes work well.

I had purchased a pair of Hoka shoes last year and the heal fabric wore out way too fast. I was finally able to contact someone who could help me. I sent the faulty shoes back (at my expense) and heard nothing for about 3 weeks. I called back and was then issued a voucher for another pair of shoes. That was fine. I asked if these new shoes would be true to size of the ones I returned and she said yes. I ordered a new pair of shoes for about $186 and they were delivered. We were leaving on a 2+ week vacation the next day and I took them with me. When I did try them on, they are about 1/2 size too big. I haven't tried to return them as it was a hassle the first time. I am disappointed that Hoke cannot get their sizing accurate. The shoes I ordered were the same style as the ones I returned. This will affect my future purchases.

My right foot has too much arch in the shoe? Have to walk funny so it doesn't hurt. Id return them but it said only if not used. I should have gotten a different model or just kept Sketches

Was looking for a stability shoe. The Gaviota was nice, but I switched to the Arahi which is a little lighter.

The shoe is lighter - which is a plus. The 4 is more comfortable in the forefoot. I run about 13-14 miles per week.

Just bought a pair of these on the recommendation of several friends. So far they are comfortable and provide more stability than did my previous shoes. But I don't understand why the color combination I like most, Blue Steel/Stone Blue, is the only one that doesn't come in a wide size. It may seem petty to some people, but if HOKA is going to make wide sizes available in all the other colors for the Gaviota 5, why not make it available in the single most popular color of all? Limestone/DIVA Blue, but not Blue Steel/Stone Blue? I'm giving them a high score for technical execution but a low score for artistic expression (and excluding a significant population of folks with wide feet).

Shoe is comfortable but feels like it's narrow. I don't have a wide foot and I have never own wide shoes but this shoe did feel very narrow. It is comfortable. Previously owned the Bondi 8 and the Gaviota 5 felt better than the Bondi. I stand on my feet 8-10 hours a day for work and they were comfortable.

For the size shoes I ordered the shoe laces are very short. There's barely any extra room to tie them when they're laced up.

Great combination of support and cushioning. However, this is a very roomy shoe in the forefoot and feels sloppy on my foot when running. This surprised me since my last Hoka shoe was the Graviota 2 which was one of the tightest shoes in the forefoot that I have ever owned. Still a great shoe though, just doesn't fit my foot. I will try them for work.
