nice shoes. More colors in Wide would be nice.

Just bought a pair of these on the recommendation of several friends. So far they are comfortable and provide more stability than did my previous shoes. But I don't understand why the color combination I like most, Blue Steel/Stone Blue, is the only one that doesn't come in a wide size. It may seem petty to some people, but if HOKA is going to make wide sizes available in all the other colors for the Gaviota 5, why not make it available in the single most popular color of all? Limestone/DIVA Blue, but not Blue Steel/Stone Blue? I'm giving them a high score for technical execution but a low score for artistic expression (and excluding a significant population of folks with wide feet).

Shoe is comfortable but feels like it's narrow. I don't have a wide foot and I have never own wide shoes but this shoe did feel very narrow. It is comfortable. Previously owned the Bondi 8 and the Gaviota 5 felt better than the Bondi. I stand on my feet 8-10 hours a day for work and they were comfortable.

For the size shoes I ordered the shoe laces are very short. There's barely any extra room to tie them when they're laced up.

Great combination of support and cushioning. However, this is a very roomy shoe in the forefoot and feels sloppy on my foot when running. This surprised me since my last Hoka shoe was the Graviota 2 which was one of the tightest shoes in the forefoot that I have ever owned. Still a great shoe though, just doesn't fit my foot. I will try them for work.

I have worn a Hoka Clifton 8 for a couple years not. I really like the cushion in the Hoka's. I wanted to try the Gaviota when it advertised the extra cushion and stability. I do tend to pronate. I also went from normal width to a wide. So far I have really felt comfortable in the new shoe. My only complaint is it seems the material at the heal slips up and down. I like that support right at the top of my heal. When the material slips down and bunches at the heal it loses that structured support that I like.

The Gaviota 5's are second only to the Bondi 8'a and Stinson 7's which are both tied for first place. This style is comfortable for walking and provides enough stability for my ankles. They don't feel quite as cushy as the Bondi 8's, and the toe box doesn't feel quite as spacious, but I still like them. I only gave them 4 stars instead of 5 stars, because I reserve that for my favorite style. I love the green color of this style, too!

I have one constructive about the shoes. I have flat feet, so I need arch supports in my shoes. . . . Even in my HOKA Gaviotas. That means I have to tie my shoes very tightly so that I don't walk out of them. I use the last eyelets to help lock my heels into the back of the shoe, but I find when I where them in warmer weather, the shoelaces start to loosen and I find myself re-tightening my shoes over and over again. Not sure if I can do anything to prevent that. . . .but thought I would let you know.

They feel good on the feet, but the bulbous front kind of looks like a clown shoe to me

Use for walking and general use. Not really enough time for full evaluation. "H" frame appears to be a little more stable than the "J" frame tech.

The laces are super short. This was not an issue with my Gaviota 4s. Anyway, I have broken both big toes and have major issues with shoes. Everything hurts my feet -- except for my Gaviotas. I have been pain-free in my 4s and now my 5s for the last 6 months and don't see myself wearing any other shoe. I selected true to size, but I have always worn 10.5s. At Fleet Feet, they suggested 11s and they fit great, so be sure to try them on.

I think the newest Gaviota is an improvement. There seems to be more padding and they seem more comfortable. Also better for walking.

It's challenging to buy footwear online. Of my last seven pair of sneakers, five have been Hoka. I like the styling, support, and cushioning but two were returned because the fit across their many models is not consistent. So much so that I started buying wide widths b/c my last model returned was much too narrow. These are comfortable by at least 1/4" shorter than previous. I kept them but it's very noticeable.

Gaviotta's fit great with plenty of toe room and support. I only wish the colors weren't so obnoxious. The choices seem to be white, black, or in your face.

I love the Gaviota support and comfort. I really wish the bright colors would come back to this model which is why I gave it a three rating

I wish I could give these shoes a five because they worked like magic for their intended purpose, but I've owned these shoes for about six months now, and when I tell you they cured my plantar fasciitis, I mean completely. It happened so fast that I didn't even notice I just woke up one day without pain and basically forgot I ever had an issue. These shoes were a miracle, honestly. Sadly, about three months in, I started to notice some minor craftsmanship issues. The sole began to chip and tear at the edges, and the entire sole started to crease horizontally. I didn't notice any difference in comfort or function, but it was definitely an eyesore and pretty crazy for shoes I paid $190+ for after only three months. Then one day, I went to put my shoes on and used the tongue to pull them on and it ripped right out of the back of the shoe with very little effort. I assume it was a stitching issue. I submitted a warranty form online and never heard back from Hoka, and with work and my busy schedule, I never got around to following up. Fast forward to six months in, and the other tongue has also ripped out of the other shoe. I don't know if I just got a bad pair or what, but there were definitely craftsmanship issues. I wanted to love this shoe so much, and it genuinely changed my life when it comes to plantar fasciitis and pain, but it's just not living up to the hype quality-wise. Shoes starting to fall apart after just 36 months is unacceptable when I paid $190+. I don't think I'm going to pursue the warranty any further because being ignored the first time felt disrespectful, and after reviewing their warranty process which includes paying for shipping, having them evaluate the shoe in-house, and only getting a replacement if approved it feels extremely tedious and honestly sneaky, like it's meant to discourage people from even trying. Well lol

It was a very nice looking shoe, I ordered it as a Christmas gift for someone. I ordered a size 13 regular with an unfortunately was delivered a 13 wide. I didn't realize it until two days ago. I'm not sure if I can make an adjustment. The shoe was great, the size is wrong and I paid expedited shipping on it.
