I use this shoe to walk upwards of five miles 3-4 time a week. Quite comfortable and keeps my feet cool in the heat. Very light yet it has good support.

This is my 4th pair of hokas over the last 1 1/2 years. Since wearing them my problems with my Achilles have all but disappeared. My niece recommended them to me and I've been sold ever since.

I've been wanting to try a pair of Hoka's for some time now and finally 'pulled-the-trigger' on this pair of Gaviota 5's. They were a revelation. I've suffered through plantar fasciiatis in the past, use orthotics inserts in some shoes but did not feel it was necessary in these Gaviota 5's. I used the sizing guide which recommended a size 10 1/2 which was larger than I expected especially since I wanted the extra wide. The sizing guide was right on target. The shoe fits the way it should. As a once-upon-a-time cross country runner, collegiate tennis player, current avid cyclist and yogi, I still stay fit and mix in runs and power walks and feel like I've been through my fair share of shoes, especially at age 62. The cushioned comfort and wide toe box of these shoes permitted me to run more comfortably then any previous pair of running shoes. My runs are 4-6 miles long and consist of pavement with some trails mixed in. I felt the lateral support of these shoes was more than adequate. ...think I may now explore Hoka's offerings for hiking given the very positive experience I've enjoyed with these Gaviota 5's.

I walk up to 12 miles a night at work. The best shoes that I have found. My last pair of Hoka shoes almost lasted a year.

My Bondi was too soft laterally. I could lose balance to the side. The Graviota is more laterally stable - probably due to its H-frame.

Good support. Very nice cushion. Better for walking than running. Great show. I would buy it again.

The G5 maybe have a larger silhouette than most shoes, but it's a little price to pay for such stable support and comfort wear. Really like the width too and can walk and run in this all day. One of the better shoe for sure.

Fantastic support for plantar fasciitis. Hoka's might be expensive, but they are worth every penny.

Due to ever-present metatarsal issues, this shoe continues to be the best one to keep the pain down. Also happy they shortened the shoelaces a bit. Fingers crossed that the two eyelets at the top of the shoe don't break. Had problem in past at about 400 mile mark, but last pair made it!

I went back and forth trying the right style the right fit and or the right color/look.
In the end these were all around comfortable and felt stable.
Walked for hours and without realizing it, my feet were the least of my concerns!

One of the most comfortable walking shoes I have ever purchased. I dont say that lightly as I have always felt compelled to have comfortable shoes for all occasions. If my feet are comfy, my back, knees, hips are all comfy and healthy. As for trying shoes of various manufacturers for various occasions, i probably have over 100 pairs currently of various shoes from TEVA flip flops to Crocs to Cole Hahn dress and casual shoes to Nike, Adidas, Skechers, etc. I did try 3 Hoka pairs before finding the pair of Gaviota 5 that I am writing about now. My wife is a hairdresser and being on her feet for 35 years shoes are important to her also, and again for back, knee and hip health. I also purchased her a pair of the Gaviota and she too feels actually one up from me that they are THE MOST comfortable pair of walking shoes that she has ever owned. Thank you HOKA.

After a recent exam for pain I was experiencing on the metatarsal area of my left foot, my podiatrist recommended that I try a pair of Hoka Gaviota 5 running shoes. My left foot pain was immediately eliminated. I can walk again in comfort! It's amazing how a particular brand/style of shoe can have such an immediate effect.

These feel just as supportive in all the right spots as the Arahi's but even more plush and cushioned because of that new support frame in the sole. The only thing I wish is that they had a slightly higher back on them like that of the Arahi because they slightly slipped off the back of my ankle when walking. This could also be due to the slightly slick satin feeling lining fabric. I also love how they flare out in width for the upper half of the foot so you don't have to buy a "wide" size.

I use the shoes mostly for walking. I'm 83 years old and I have neuropathy. The shoes are comfortable and is the problems caused by neuropathy. However, again they look quite large on your foot.

The Caviota 4 is a very good product. The Gaviota 5 definitely is a significantly better product. The comfort and stability provided by the Gaviot 5 is wonderful. The slightly wider toe box and additional cushioning are great. I really like the H frame.
