My last pair lasted 4 years. Three months in the treads on the left show started separating. Submitted a warranty claim and was denied. Quality much worse this time than my first experience with Hoka

Not sure what's going on with these shoes they used to be good but the last two pairs I've bought have had the same problem. The pieces on the bottom of the shoe start peeling off. It's really unfortunate as these are not a cheap shoe to buy. It's super annoying after spending over 150 dollars and after just a couple of months of regular use the sole starts to fall apart. I don't think I will be supporting this company any longer.

I'm actually pretty upset about this product. This is not a Clifton 9. I held out even trying the 10 for a long time because it clearly had a more pronounced rocker. I thought I would still be able to buy the Clifton 9 in this version if it didn't work for me. This isn't the same shoe. Not everyone can use an early stage rocker. How are you going to change the rocker and still call it a Clifton 9? Now I can't find any 9s anymore and I am left with one last pair while I am in the abyss looking for anything that will work for me again. This was the one shoe. How can you change the whole function of a shoe and call it the same shoe. Just make another shoe. Keep the Clifton the late stage rocker that works for people.
Sad,

I have ordered and returned 4 pairs of these shows thinking surely it would get better. I love the fit, the look and the waterproofness. After less than a month of wear with the latest pari the soles are peeling off of both shoes in two places each. To say I am disappointed is the understatement of the year. I have had far less pricey shoes lasts far longer. My Clifton 10s seem to be fine--so very very sad about these shoes.
Sad I,

I bought mine at the end of April and only used for normal everyday activities such as walking (no running) and alternated wearing them with a couple pair of Sketchers (so not everyday). I noticed yesterday the heel is coming apart. I am very disappointed in their durability. I mentioned it to my granddaughter and she had a similar experience on her Hoka's. At $169, they were the most expensive sneakers I have ever purchased. I will not be buying any more.

I sent my shoes back for warranty cause the bottom treads were coming unglued and it was denied because they said it was wear and tear. The shoes were maybe 3 months old! Only wore a few times. The funny part is this had happen before and I exchanged them. Then it happen again so I sent them in and the said it wasn't their problem!

I SHOULD'VE READ THE REVIEWS. TREAD PADS HAVE BEEN UNSTICKING FROM SOLE AFTER 3 MONTHS OF USE TO WALK IN A CLINIC. IF THESE SHOES CAN'T WITHSTAND NORMAL WALKING INDOORS, HOW ARE THEY TO BE USED FOR RUNNING OUTDOORS? THIS IS NOT WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE AS IT IS A COMMON ISSUE LOOKING THROUGH THE REVIEWS. THESE SHOES ARE NOT CHEAP TO BE HAVING THIS ISSUE AFTER ONLY 3 MONTHS.

I love so many things about Hoka and the Clifton 9 GTX however I have had 3 pair in 4 months and the soles have peeled off every pair within weeksin one case in just 5 days if wear. Super disappointing. I love the waterproof and the color and fit, it for 160.00 a pair you shouldn't have the shoe falling apart in days. Very sad purchase. Hoka was very helpful and did process a warranty on one pair with a refund, store credit on another and an exchange on one of them. Still, I really wanted these shoes to better.

About one month after using these shoes for running a few times/week, the treads of the shoes started to peel off. There are individual grips on the tread which started to peel and eventually fully fell off. I contacted hoka about this and they told me that this is normal wear and tear and that they would not do anything to compensate or replace these defunct shoes. Several months later the treads have continued to peel off and are now unusable and dangerous due to the uneven surface. I would not recommend buying this style.

I bought these because I'm always on my feet, while working. I have had these for almost 2 full months and the bottom of my sole is already coming apart.

I wore these maybe three times and the traction pads fell off. I sent them back for the manufacture warranty but Hoka claimed it was from daily wear and tear and that the shoes were purchased more than a year out of date. Still love Hoka as a brand but disappointed in these shoes specifically.

I loved the color and the feel of the shoes so was very happy with this purchase but after one wear, the 20% of sole rubber/foam got ripped already.

Having owned several pairs of HOKA's over the years, I'm disappointed by Clifton 9 GTX as well as the previous pair. These shoes have extra material on the bottom as you would expect. The problem is it started falling apart after weeks of light to normal use. The pair before it faired a little better, lasting some months before falling apart. I would say perhaps a bad batch, but two different pairs over several months if you end up buying a pair - which you should not - but if you do, keep an eye on them.

I wish I could upload photos to show what I mean. I loved the color and been using them mainly to workout. I bought these around March 2025 and by June 2025 parts of the bottom of the shoe were coming off. I had to buy shoe glue. I have bought cheaper shoes in Ross or other cheaper stores that lasted me years. I will probably not support this brand any more.

This is my fifth pair of Hokas. This pair was such a disappointment. The first layer of the tread padding began to peel up within two weeks. I traded them in, and the second pair sent to me was the same story. I have to use shoe glue to keep them from falling apart. Stay away from this pair.

First time ever trying Hoka shoes as I have heard good things. Bought 3 different pairs to try. I have not been using these Clifton 9's for more than 2 weeks and the bottom sole is already coming off in multiple spots. Don't think any shoe that costs as much as this should do that. Will not buy again. Only thing I will say is they are comfortable but who cares if they last 2 weeks.

Very comfortable and good looking shoe, however the tread started peeling off almost immediately. I've sent back for warranty, but have not heard back for over 3 weeks.

Loved the shoes until pieces of the soles started falling off within 6 months. In the process of returning them to Hoka, which is a bit of a hassle. It shouldn't be my responsibility to pay for shipping the defective product back to the company. A little disappointed

I ordered the Hoka shoes in the middle of March. Here it is one month later and the soles of the shoes are coming apart. I don't wear these shoes all the time, so given that the rubber tread has separated from the foam part is discouraging. I mostly wear dress shoes during the week and occasionally go for walks or wear for casual. Just disappointed

Bought this on an orthopedic doctors recommendation for a bad ankle. Unfortunately seems very imbalanced, with my weight not correctly being distributed (always felt like my ankles are going to twist inwards). I've worn dozens of brands, never really had an issue. I would strongly suggest folks try this out in person, and at least retain boxes etc for returning things until their first longer wear session.

I have recently sent these Men's Clifton GTX shoes that I bought from a local dealer in Lake Orion MI. I purchased them on 12/29/24 and the black pads of the shoe were coming off the bottom. When they do it's kind of dangerous because they turn into a big flap when walking or running. I believe 4 of them came off total in less than 3 months of use. I am surprised to find out by calling today that these are being shipped back to me as if this isn't a quality issue. The rest of the shoes were perfect. I am not impressed with your customer service solution on this issue and will not be purchasing from Hoka in the future.
